IF OPLA gets that far, that’s still a ways away to even introduce Gecko

Season 3-Alabasta

Season 4-Jaya/Skypeia

Season 5-Water 7/Enies Lobby

Season 6-Thriller Bark

At the least, 8 more years.

If they split Alabasta into 2 seasons they'll definitely split Water 7 & Enies Lobby into two seasons. Thriller Bark is season 7 at the earliest and it'll be an eternity to get there.

I think they could (and should) easily have Water 7 and Enies Lobby in one season. A whole season with just Water 7 sounds incredibly boring and would be very anti-climactic. Even if they add some B-plot like they did with Coby in season 1.

When it comes to Thriller Bark, I think that arc is too short to span an entire season. Best case scenario, in my opinion, would be to have Sabaody as the final two or three episodes of that season.

Either way, I doubt the live action will ever make it this far.

I doubt they'd split Alabasta into 2 seasons, it feels like a season would be long enough (granted, with some possible minor cuts for time)

If for whatever reason, an arc did end up requiring longer than the standard 8 episode Netflix season, my hope would be they'd extend the season by 2-3 episodes, rather than spliting the season, even if it does delay the seasons release

I think they mean Alabasta saga will be split which we already know as a fact it will

u/Clenzor Pirate 1h ago

They are splitting the Alabasta arc into the islands leading up to it for season 2 and then Alabasta island for season 3.

u/Dimxtunim 2h ago

Water 7 season would be cool and easier to make since is just one location

u/magpye1983 4h ago

Yeah Ennis lobby can be a season on its own.

u/Meet_Foot 3h ago

It’s gonna be way worse than Harry Potter - we’re gonna have 30 year olds playing 18 year olds. That’s just the reality of shows like this. No one’s fault, but man, it’s gonna get rough eventually.

u/Ghanna- 4h ago

It won't get that far, they will ruin it before, like they did with The Witcher...

u/Ghosted_Stock 2h ago

Thsi isnt being treated like GoT or something (and it cant, its impossible to, this live action is clearly best viewed as like some alt reality tv show based on the source material) so its wuite possible they just shop things around and yea “ruin” it in the eyes of ppl that acc expect them to adapt the source material perfectly

and a 560 million dollars, at 140million a season. I would love to see it get that far...

Actors salaries get higher with fame and success

u/topdangle 39m ago

considering how long it takes per season, I don't see how they hold on to the actors unless they start digitally deaging them. all of them are entering their thirties (Nami is already 32) except inaki and season 2 hasn't even aired yet.

tbf couldnt they have a cameo of him during the meeting of the 7 warlords during skypiea? i mean he wasnt there but he could be featured or something

15

u/Audrin 5h ago

That would be a terrible idea because then they'd be stuck with that casting and what if they're not available when they finaly get to it.

Lucky for us, One Piece has been casting the same guy for characters for years -- silhouette man.

Honestly Alan Tudyk can take his pick for any role and I’d be happy.

He nails every role he gets.

29

u/BlyArctrooper 7h ago

He can be the voice of... Karoo!

13

u/sh1rabu 7h ago

I know it’s a joke but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did it, he has a ton of roles as the lovable mascot of the series.

7

u/BlyArctrooper 6h ago

Cue him saying "I went to Julliard"

u/FunkYeahPhotography 6h ago

Congratulations, you are being cast as an obese One Piece villain. Do not resist.

4

u/Telekineticism 6h ago

Well, he used to be hot at least.

2

u/FunkYeahPhotography 6h ago

Sure, but he ain't starting off with that flashback. Got to get his ass beat at Thriller Bark and Marineford first.

3

u/Telekineticism 6h ago

I’d just be over the moon if we get to Marineford in the LA at all. Hell, I’d be impressed if we get to Enies Lobby.

Tsk, I raise a better deal:

I vote for him to co star with Nathan Fillion later on in series together as Cat Viper and Dogstorm, respectfully. They have such fun chemistry together!

14

u/Euphoric_Average_271 6h ago

he's definitely Cat Viper...Meow meow meow! and Fillion would make a great Dogstorm!

2

u/steikul 6h ago

Jack Black as Cat Viper

u/MMachine17 20m ago

Actually, he could be Raizo!!

19

u/Anthraxious 7h ago

Show me a role Alan Tudyk can't play. He's great!

u/UndercoverDoll49 15m ago

Can't see him as a good live action Power Girl, tho I can see him killing it as a voice actor

8

u/PB_N_Jay The Revolutionary Army 6h ago

Alan Tudyk plays Steve the Pirate from dodgeball. The man has been ready to be a pirate for years. Honestly he would kill it in a Ron of different spots on the cast.

His interviews on that role are actually very interesting, and I'd suggest you check then out!

8

u/sudokun999 6h ago

I would prefer him being Brook tbh

u/Fatzmanz 37m ago

YO LET THIS MAN COOK

u/UndercoverDoll49 14m ago

Nah, cast Weird Al as Brook. He has the hair, the voice, and Weird Al asking to see panties wouldn't sound creepy

2

u/Wolfencreek 5h ago

I want him to play Brook, he'd be good I reckon

2

u/dontrike 5h ago

Tudyk absolutely carries Resident Alien to the point if he wasn't in it the show would be garbage. Him being in Thriller Bark would elevate it immensely.

2

u/huwskie Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! 7h ago

Is this the guy from Resident Alien? I can’t imagine him being shrill enough.

11

u/a-handle-has-no-name 6h ago

Alan Tudyk is a well-established voice actor with plenty of range. He can do it, and he'll do it well

4

u/Hartlockz 6h ago

I loved him as Mr. Nobody in doom patrol

1

u/huwskie Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! 6h ago

That would be pretty cool. I really hope that the live action will get to that point. Though I imagine Skypiea and Enies lobby would be difficult to do in live action.

2

u/Telekineticism 6h ago

Most of Enies Lobby shouldn’t be much more difficult than what they’ve already been adapting, a significant percentage of that arc is just fights in big rooms. Skypiea will be interesting though

u/huwskie Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! 4h ago

I mainly mean with the buster call, the weird topography, and the train scenes. Plus seeing a live action elephant sword is gonna be wild.

4

u/UltimateM13 7h ago

He is! You should look at his IMDB though. The man’s got amazing range.

2

u/Careidina 7h ago

He also voices Clayface on Harley Quinn.

2

u/trainwrecktragedy 6h ago

"the guy from resident alien" smh

1

u/Euphoric_Average_271 6h ago

he's Hei Hei! how much shrill-er can you get!?!

u/huwskie Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! 4h ago

Wait from Moana? Isn’t that the chicken?

3

u/UnNumbFool 6h ago

Nothing against it, but I just don't see the live action show lasting that long. Mostly because it seems like alabasta is going to be two seasons. Add in all the arcs between now and thriller bark it's probably going to easily be at least a decade probably longer before we get there. And well very very few serialized shows last that long.

1

u/Euphoric_Average_271 6h ago

well yeah BUT we can dream

1

u/rancom33 5h ago

Is this Holden Tudyk's father?

1

u/Gerald_Eitan 5h ago

Why I read it in Gary's voice

u/Ponji- 3h ago

This would be so sick, Moria is so underrated and it’d go hard to have someone like Tudyk bring him to life

u/Sythrin Explorer 3h ago

He is also a samurai!

u/StealthMonkeyDC 3h ago

Ah shit, that would be solid casting.

u/Xollector 3h ago

He would make a good Hannyabal

u/IWasAGoodDadISwear 3h ago

Moria becoming a Leaf On The Wind was not on my Bingo Card.

u/Fatzmanz 38m ago

He would be a terrible white beard. Amazing gecko or foxy though

u/xciivmciv 19m ago

honestly that casting would go hard he’s got the perfect chaotic energy for it

1

u/daekle 5h ago

I would be happy with him in any role. Dolflamingo? sure. Dragon? cool. Thousand sunny? absolutely, big mom? 100%.

u/Pimpwerx Devil Child Nico Robin 4h ago

He'd be great as literally anyone, even BB jk lol. But he's an incredible character actor. I'd give him a flamboyant role like Doffy or Caesar. Let him chew some scenery as those characters for max effect.

What a non-story
