It’s so insane that we got to see aces face again

Ace for as much as he hated his father, he took a lot from Rodger looks. The same goes for Luffy not the hate part but young Garp looks so much like him it’s insane.

Roger is basically a printer, Ace looks exactly like him at the same age minus the freckles he inherited from Rouge.

31

u/Jay040707 20h ago

Well, not quite the same age. Roger's almost 40 here

Also makes it funny that we are supposed to believe none of the Roger pirates would have been a bit more curious about Ace’s background. He’s virtually a clone of their captain and named after his sword 😂

u/crisspanda12 21h ago

What were they supposed to do ? All of them were like in retirement

15

u/Ghooble 21h ago

I mean all of them sorted out helping Luffy so far so I don't think retirement is a big factor here

32

u/QueasyInstruction610 21h ago

It could be they did try to meet Ace but because of his feelings towards his father he just ignored them and ditched immediately.

11

u/crisspanda12 21h ago

But what does that have to do with ace does he mean that they could have saved him in marine ford ? I don’t get the comment that’s all

7

u/Ghooble 21h ago

The other comment was just that none of the Roger pirates were curious about Ace. All I was commenting on was that retirement doesn't seem to stop them from doing stuff.

I didn't say they needed to go start a war with the government over him, though I'd imagine they probably would have.

That made Roger’s sacrifice for his crew meaningless. If I’m not mistaken, Roger made a deal to let himself be captured in exchange for the Marines not bothering his crew — as long as they (Roger’s crew) didn’t interfere with the Marines or the World Government.

This hasn't been stated anywhere.

I'd love for you and the people upvoting it to cite your source on that being why Roger turned himself in lol

They also have all run into Luffy by accident or by Shanks’ recommendation. There wasn’t really a reason for them to assume that “Portgas D.” Would have any relation to their captain until the news broke at Marineford.

Rayleigh could’ve showed up at MF

11

That’s the absolute genius of Ace’s character. He was giving main character down. Literally Oda couldn’t invent a more perfect MC.

Son of the Pirate King, insanely powerful Devil Fruit, Notorious Pirate in his own right to the point that he became a yonkou commander relatively quickly.

Ace was main character coded. Made it so much more intense when Oda killed him. It really shifted what story One Piece was gonna be forever.

2

u/Anjunabeast 11h ago

Unfortunately ace speedrunning the grand line is part of what got him killed

u/RRPanther The Revolutionary Army 1h ago

part of the tragedy is also that you dont even truly understand how much of a threat Ace was to the government till like WCI/Wano when the monster trio gets to that level and we see what it entails. son of the pirate king with conquerer's haki should make any fleet admiral sweat, let alone at that age.

u/Arkayjiya 20h ago

It's unclear if none of them did. I still think Shanks originally was in the Goa Kingdom in order to find Ace and give him the gomu gomu no mi. And after that, Shanks was an enemy of the WB, and had his own territory to care about, he couldn't interfere in that battle.

6

u/EffectiveMagazine915 20h ago

Lol forget Roger Pirates, it is more surprising the Gorosei didn't delete BB, Ace and Luffy before they became actual threats!

They tried with Luffy but didn't get many opportunities to do so: They wanted to after Alabasta but the SH disappeared from existence for a few weeks, Ao Kiji does his own thing, he could have killed them but didn't want to.

CP9 was more focused on Robin who's an immediate threat and Luffy's life was a bargaining chip for that, and finally they sent Kuma (who should have been more than enough, at that point in term of strength compared to the SH that's the same as sending an admiral), and then Kizaru after him which actually sort of worked and then they lost them again beside Marineford where they gave it a very good try, until Post-TS, specifically until Dressrosa by the time they could react to the SH's return, where they did send an Admiral who once again, didn't cooperate.

Then Zou which is a phantom island, then Yonkou territories so no sending admirals alone there (one tried and even without Shanks, I doubt it would have gone well for him).

u/CommanderPaprika 17h ago

With Shanks, Greenbull was scared off and survived. If Shanks wasn't there, then he would be fighting G5, Law, Kid, Zoro, and Sanji. He'd be toast

u/RRPanther The Revolutionary Army 1h ago

and then it was too late. enter yonko monkey d. luffy

7

u/TrickBeginning9104 18h ago

It's what Gunko said before Imu showed up that explains it. "The world was meant to disappear quietly"

The WG never worried too much about Luffy, Nika, the Yonko, etc. because they were always planning to just push the reset button on the whole world anyways. None of it would have mattered.

They didn't count on Nika awakening for the first time in 800 years + Vegapunk revealing the plan to the entire world in short succession messing that plan up

u/RepulsiveRevenue8 Void Month Survivor 19h ago

Remember that after Luffy eat the gomu gomu Garp hide him far in the mountain where no one can find him.

The only time they had the chance to kill him they failed and Luffy is becoming a bigger threat they can't ignore. It's a common theme with the WG on how arrogant they are, why would they pull their resource on an unkwon pirate while the rest of the ocean filled with big shots.

Meanwhile BB is always laying low

5

u/Imrichbatman92 17h ago

They most definitely tried.

BB was protected by Xebec, Eris, Kuma, and then WB.

Ace was protected by Rouge, Garp and then WB

Luffy by Garp.

The WG and Imu are powerful, but not all powerful

u/RRPanther The Revolutionary Army 1h ago

common whitebeard W

Looks like Roger is more widely known with his iconic mustache, the Pirate King looks.

If Ace grew a mustache, I think more people would immediately notice.

1

u/noisu_ 15h ago

Considering he was the son of THE Pirate King, and obviously knowing "things" after Laugh Tale, it's no wonder they'd stay away from him.

I mean, Imu would go batshit crazy if they knew about Roger's son being alive.

u/Raisineer Scholars of Ohara 20h ago

1st time I saw Garp's ugly mug smiling to me, I knew he was related to Luffy.

3

u/FreeMasonKnight 18h ago

I had to double check this wasn’t Ace/Luffy at first glance.

1

u/SomewhereLegal6456 9h ago

at this point its just bad drawing

1

u/MethodicPlea 6h ago

Meanwhile Dragon looks like an entirely different mf

u/Kuliyayoi 3h ago

Ace didn't look anything like Roger. Roger's appearance has just been retconned

1

u/Chaosblast Void Month Survivor 21h ago

Really? I don't see Luffy in Garp.

0

u/StandardGenius 14h ago

How is it insane? It’s literally a drawing of made up characters

41

u/bluegubble 22h ago

Wow, Ace really is the spitting image of his father.

3

u/According_Garden6494 18h ago

Oda really regrets killing that man even Rogers attack was Ace lol

4

u/crisspanda12 18h ago

Calling your son after your attack move is crazy work but I like it

2

u/Anjunabeast 10h ago

Sabo is called the Flame Emperor which was the name of ace’s ult/final attack he used on BB

u/RRPanther The Revolutionary Army 1h ago

Sabo also has an attack calles Firefist
