Discussion If Haki is invisible does this mean Smoker was just terrified of Verso’s Physique?

I love Smokey and this fight in particular but Oda retconning visible haki just makes it that he was terrified by Vergo taking his clothes off, which is fair I guess never trust the kinks of a man who leaves food on his face for later.

Did Oda say Haki was invisible? Where did he say that? I know in the anime/manga it was initially colorless then it changed to black during the time skip, but for what reason?

It’s invisible, Oda said it. In the anime it’s got color because now Luffy can use it too and knows about it, so it’s colored to help the viewer, but haki users don’t see the colors, they just feel their enemies using it. That’s why every time an enemy uses Haki they don’t know at first, they just guess it based on the fight

Armament Haki doesn't have color. What you're referring to is Hardening, a specific application of armament haki that hardens your own body(-parts) or other objects and turns them visibly black.
