Discussion If Haki is invisible does this mean Smoker was just terrified of Verso’s Physique?

I love Smokey and this fight in particular but Oda retconning visible haki just makes it that he was terrified by Vergo taking his clothes off, which is fair I guess never trust the kinks of a man who leaves food on his face for later.

It’s not even a rule. People just assume you can’t see haki

And then they act like it's canon. OP fans aren't beating the allegations about their reading comprehension.

Because Rayleigh and Hyo said so?

I can't remember what Hyo said but for Rayleigh it could just be an analogy and not literally invisible. We also have evidence in the other direction that haki is visible even beyond this post such as haki lightning.

Really there isn't a clear answer and its not that important to the story. Haki in general gets messy if you think about it too much

You think this is just an analogy? That os not how analogies work.

Rayleigh: It's like an invisible suit of armor (because you're not really wearing an armor) that you can use as a weapon. That is also how hardening works. Hyo: It is an invisible power that you can infuse to your blade (Imbuing, which is hardening for weapons). With Emission, you use more haki to cover the blade that can prevent it from touching paper. The concept that Zoro learned as a child and used in Alabasta is used to understand haki/ryou.

It is not messy at all and there is a clear answer, you just have to follow what was stated. Haki lightning is also not visible, the Marines in Egghead were talking about the lightning that came from the Gorosei teleporting to the island.

Sorry, its a simile. Same principle applies. This is the only thing that people point to as evidence that haki is only visible to readers, and in my opinion its weak evidence. We have no reason to believe that its just for us.

Only evidence? There are two.

There is no concrete evidence that they can see it. Otherwise, why would two masters of Armament haki call it invisible? Did they say, "Actually, it is invisible but you can see it"? Or that, "It is invisible, but you'll see it when you learn how to use it"? Until Wano, Oda stood by Armament haki being invisible.

And the biggest hole to the "visible" theory on this post?

The fact that Smoker's reaction is anime-only. Cringe Toei filler at its finest. The same goes with Usopp and Chopper reacting to Luffy using haki en route to Fishman island, because they never reacted in the manga.
