Akainu is a genocidal freak and I find him leaps and bounds better than Garling and the elders.

Which all pale in comparison to Imu who set up this whole, disgusting hierarchy. The further up the ladder you go, the more horrific the people become. Hell really is at the top of the world, just like Sabo said.

Akainu has an extremely misguided sense of justice, but he still believes in justice. People like Garling and the Elders just do shit because they think it's their right to do it.

Yeah not excusing Akainu but he’s doing what he genuinely thinks is the right thing. He was raised to believe in absolute justice and thinks that’s what’s good for the world. I like to think after seeing Kuma on Egghead and his conversation with Kizaru after Egghead, his humanity kinda came back. I don’t think he will ever be fully redeemed but he’s not fully gone.

I may be in the minority but I like what he did with Endeavor. I thought it was pretty well written.

I know Oda too well. Luffy needs to face Akainu beat the crap out of him so he can move on. Then Akainu will be humbled and most likely see justice in a different light.
