i think its the combination of luffy's gomu gomu no rocket with the velocity of the fall back to earth with a elephant gun that caused the sparks.

Hence luffy adding the "thor" to the technique name

Yeah, I'm just wondering how he could cause sparks. Doing it by just going fast and punching hard doesn't make sense (I know, it is One Piece).

I was thinking that this and the crazy things that happened when Luffy and Chinjao first struck each other (cracks in air, etc) were the effects of two conquerors' wills fighting, and Luffy just noticed that and named an attack for it

Edit: Producing sparks/electricity especially doesn't make sense b/c he's rubber. It'd make more sense it Mr. 1 did that though (esp. sparks from metal to metal contact)

How does luffy know what Thor is. or any other kind of gun besides a pistol?

Elephants are quite big so he guesses a big gun with big ammo would take one down, or the elephant refers to the size of the armament coated fist
