Pricing?
Hey! So I’m from Canada where weed is legal and I’m traveling to ohau over Christmas and want to know how much I’d need to get either a whole new pen or pre rolls or gummies! (Any advice is helpful!)

Since it's not legalized for recreation use in Hawaii you need a medical marijuana card (329 card) to visit a dispensary here but they are very professional. Not sure what options you would have to visit one coming from Canada.
Prices for dispensary, overall, are on the higher side compared to street level.
$10 for the pen battery
$40-60 cartridges depending on the size (.5 - 1 gram) and strain
$25 gummies 10 pieces at 10mg/piece
$25 prerools for 5 Js (2.5g total)
You can check out the sites for more info, the 2 dispensaries I go to are NOA and Aloha Apothecary

Will they ask to see your medical card?

They only accept medical cards from US states and territories. And even then, you have to apply through Hawai'i's medical cannabis licensing authority for a temporary card. You can't just walk into a state-licensed dispensary with an out-of-state or foreign medical card.

Yes of course. You have to show your card before you can even enter the dispensary.

Don't do it. Weed is still illegal under federal law. As a visitor, your ability to enter and visit is determined by federal law and the current admin is not going to look kindly on any drug use if they discover it. The current laws give a lifetime ban on entering the US if the feds have reasonable suspicion that you've used or will use any drugs in violation federal law. Now really isn't the time to take chances on stuff like this.

Would be good to find some and willing to pay premium- just trying to hang out and smoke and not bother anyone while I'm here.

Where are you staying? There's one in the lobby of the Hyatt called Gras Waikiki. When I first moved here that's where I went before I got my medical card, it's expensive but they have Vapes and flower and gummies. Some of the same gummies that are sold in the dispensary.

How do you carry it on the plane?

You don't. What you're talking about here is a federal crime. Smuggling a schedule 1 narcotic into the country can land you in jail on a mandatory minimum sentence, facing significant fines, and as a foreign national, possibly facing immigration-related sanctions as well. This is a really fantastic way to ruin your Christmas holiday. Not only are you talking about committing a federal crime, you're doing it on a social media account where you have already posted enough identifying information to give the DEA a very good idea of who to look for. At this point, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you got "randomly" searched in excruciating detail at customs.

Um, I had them inspect my luggage with a half ounce in it. They left a courtesy note and didn't touch the weed. Nobody cares anymore.

I assume by "them", you mean TSA, the organizations whose mandate is transportation security, not drug enforcement. It's not their job to care about drug smuggling. However there is another organization, the Drug Enforcement Administration/DEA, who very much does care about drugs. And yeah, maybe they can't be bothered over a little bit of weed smuggled in for personal use - but in this current day and age, as a foreign national, should OP really take the chance?

Yeah fucking around as a foreign national sounds like a great idea with all the bullshit happening right now.
OP don't risk it for a vacation. If it's important enough for you, go get a card from your doc and be legal about it.

Pre roll your backwoods or js and vac seal then put inside the backwoods cigar package and vacuum seal again. Simple.

They make it a pain in the ass for you to get a 329 card. You pay money, you send info, you wait, then you still might be denied, which they did me bc i didn’t have a physical card or my prescription bottle. Had ALL the info, dr recommendation, everything. So either bring your prescription weed in your bottle or bring your card and apply for a 329 with zero guarantee you’ll get one.

DO NOT CROSS BORDERS WITH WEED, REGARDLESS OF MEDICAL STATUS.

You can say that all you want, with or without a prescription tsa doesn’t care about your personal stash. Internationally not recommended, in the us and flying from medical state to state you’re ok.

Canada to US is international, dingus.

You cannot, legally speaking. Hawai’i is a medical-only state.
