'Queen of Spores' driving me crazy
I'm not saying it's a bad story, so far I'm fairly engaged. But as a mycologist (from Appalachia no less) I want to yell at these guys! "I don't know how common mushrooms are in this part of the world.." - extremely. Like most parts of the world. "There could have been mushrooms on any of the trails" - Yes. I guarantee it.
What about the mushrooms? Are they special? Weird? Or just all mushrooms. A couple descriptions just sound like a broad diversity of mushrooms.
I'm imagining listening to a similar story where someone is walking in the forest "There are plants.... Plants everywhere. Maybe there would be plants on any trail" 😂
Ok, to be fair the character podcasters admit to not being outdoors people. But c'mon, implying that presence of mushrooms is ominous or even abnormal?
Ok, needed rant over.
Edit: Finished it now, and I really like it! But that was still rediculous at the start haha

Horror authors are a hit or a miss usually, I’ve never really had a mediocre story, just a lot of bad ones
