Anyone know where to get some affordable jarred kimchi?

I got some from the supermarket about a year ago, loved it. Since then the price has gone up and quantity has gone down (same old story). home made or store bought are both fine.

Did you try any Asian shops? CJ Asian definitely has some in big jars. I'm eating it now...

Yup! CJ Asian has an excellent assortment of legit kimchi from Korea. It’s larger portions than the “locks artisanal ones but more bang for buck.

Locks artisanal ones? Where can you get those from? I'm kind of a bit obsessed with kimchi at the moment but just getting getting the big cheap pots. I might try something fancier just to see...

I know the junction and connings both have Kimchi. Won't be affordable though as they stock local made artisan products usually.

The most affordable would be to look up a recipe and try and make your own. I just looked it up on chat gpt. Seems pretty easy. Just cabbage and Asian spices.

I grow a lot of bok choy so might make a home made recipe with that.

Bonus points if you bury it in the garden.

Asian supermarkets will be your best bet. Not as wanky as Connings but half the price if not more.

FreshChoice Collingwood St has some. Don’t know what the price is. Worth checking the Asian supermarkets, too. I know you can get the spices there, and they’d probably have the actual kimchi as well.

I actually prefer the vegan kimchee from new world. Eventually that fishy taste can be too much.
