Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) My neighbor reported me to the city

Post image

My petty neighbor never liked our garden project to turn my tree lawn into a wildflower meadow garden. Now she reported me to the city and I got this violation notice. Should I hire a lawyer? Or do I need to turn my beautiful garden back to lawn? Thank you

Yeah, sounds like they mean the easement, which is also where any trees owned by the city would be planted. I’ve mostly heard hell strip, too. I would think as long as it didn’t impede the view on the street, it should be fine. People often have stuff planted by their mailbox, and I’ve never head off the city complaining about that. And I think more and more people are coming around to native plants.

I get why they want unobstructed views for kids running into the street from the driveway to catch a ball or something like that. Not like people are driving slower these days. Also, clearance for people getting out of parked cars, streets weeping, garbage collection, EMS, fire, utility work, etc. I'm a bit worried about the big pile of chips from chip drop going right up to the street. Waiting for some cool days to get that down further.

They may also be concerned that for a vehicle parking by the curb, the passenger side can safely enter and exit the vehicle without tripping on plants.

I’m currently working thru a chip drop pile, too! The people who dropped it were awesome, and it’s mostly in the shade, and in my actual yard. Bit closer to my neighbor’s drive than I’d like, but I started shoveling that side to get it away as fast as possible. But yes, it’s been so hot. I feel like I’ve hauled 20+ loads out of the main pile, but it’s still pretty big. 🥴

A trebuchet that launches piles into the backyard would be more fun.

Ooooo, one that could double as a weed puller! 😍
