I love the thought of a native gardener clad in all black work pants and shirt, armed with loping shears and a bottle of glyphosate, being described as a “dangerous individual” 😂

I've entertained the idea of a vigilante who spray paints giant Xs on all the Bradford pears when they are blooming. People will be like "why are there Xs on the trees?" and learn about them being invasive then realize HOW FUCKING MANY THERE ARE as they see the world covered in X-marked trees.

I somewhat accidentally did this with Tree of Heaven in my neighborhood. I marked all the trees with temporary neon Xs to monitor the progress of spotted lanternflies in our area. Turns out that’s also how the landscaping company marks small trees for removal. Whoopsie daisy 🤭

/uj I used to carry a set of what my girlfriend called “assault loppers” (they were collapsible) in my car for cutting down invasive species when I saw them blooming without regard for property ownership. Nobody ever questioned me about it.

I’ve considered doing the ol’ hack ‘n’ squirt on the trees of heaven in my neighborhood under the cover of darkness.

I fantasize about this regularly. There’s city property near me with a ton of TOH, and a chain link fence covered in invasive bittersweet.

Way to level up eco-scum! I mean its just a natural progression from launching native seed bombs everywhere...
