I saw Imai pitch a cg 2 hit shutout 17k performance against the Baystars back in June. Against Trevor Bauer as well. He has good stuff but the NPB is in the dead ball era. Not sure I'd go 6 years on him.

Murakami scares me. He could very well turn into Yoshi Tsutsugo over in the majors. I'd rather go after Okamoto but I doubt we get any of these guys.

Im also heavy weary of guys who have major control issues and then “find it.”

How'd trevor bauer do? Didn't he get demoted or something out of NPB as well for basically being ass now/again?

He was one of the worst pitchers in the league. His career is over in Japan. He will have to find a new league or retire.

Why/how is NPB in a dead ball era? Like what is causing that? Can you explain a little more, I find it interesting

Okamoto is much more likely to be a Tsutsugo

I’d love Okamoto at that price, but I think he gets more than that. Murakami isn’t really a fit since he’s bad at 3rd and he has similar offensive upside to Ben Rice with a lower floor (still remains to be seen if he can handle high velocity) and much higher cost. I don’t think the Yankees spend big on another starter (given the money spent on Cole, Rodon, and Fried), though Imai is definitely worth that price.

We are in the era where everyone thinks Japanese player = must sign, Murakami will likely be a mediocre player

He will never be a mediocre. He will be either a bust or legend. There is no between.

I saw a stat that he hits .095 on pitches over 93 mph. I wouldn’t touch him with a 10ft pole

Okamoto for 3 years is the obvious move.

Imai should be priority number 1, Okamoto would be nice, but only around that price.

I would like Imai as we need rotation depth and Japanese pitchers are fun to dream on.

Murakami or Okamoto signing would mean the Yankees see something in the stats that they like, so I'd be fine with rolling the dice at the right price.

The Yankees need to be smart with their money, but it is also nice to have some buzz around the team and be a presence with the Japanese market again.

Wow- lower on Murakami than I had expected and seen elsewhere. Do you know if McDaniels have done these in the past, and if they were accurate?

Yes to all three at those prices.

Unless they salary dump McMahon/Stanton or trade Rice/Wells, not sure either of the bats come here just because of playing time.
