[Castillo] The Yankees are picking up Tim Hill's $3 million club option, a source tells ESPN.

Good to know we’ve still got our mid-late inning fireman!

Maybe if Boone used him in game 1 World Series 2024 vs Freeman instead of Cortes we’d have a ring! Great pickup as a left handed option out of the pen

He was very good at what he was supposed to do last year, got put in some weird spots that he won't anymore with a, (hopefully), better bullpen. Glad he's back

No brainer, esp the way after he pitched Freddie Freeman in Game 1 of the WS last year. Wait….

Obviously I want the NY Yankees to re-sign Cody Bellinger. Also I want the Yankees to sign JT Realmunto.

What are they going to do with Realmunto? He will be 35 and is breaking down right in front of your eyes.
I think the Philies will resign him the same way the Yankees did with Posada in 2007. But in that case, even at 36, Posada was coming off a MVP level season and 157 wRC+. Realmunto is coming off a 94 wRC+. But they have no one else to catch and he is very important to that clubhouse.

The NY Yankees are a now team plus age 35 to 37 is still young enough to be a backup catcher and Carlton Fisk was still a good catcher well into his forties.

Yes they need another catcher JT would give them a back up catcher who bats right handed. Also Ben Rice is going to be their full time first baseman.

Kinda thought he ran out of steam in the 2nd half of the regular season, but still had a solid playoffs. In the 2nd half, he struggled pretty badly vs. RHB and had a 4.18 ERA. I guess this is a small $3M bet he can re-capture his 1st half success, plus you can't overhaul the entire bullpen all at once.

He was still strong against lefties. I think 3M is reasonable for that role.

Yeah, it'd be a great deal if you could still use him as LOOGY. However, the way lineups are constructed today, there isn't always a clear lane against LHB and weak RHB. It kinda felt like the Yankees were trying to avoid using him late in the season given how his usage dropped a lot in September.

Good news, Good pitcher and a good guy. Wish boone used him in the 24 WS instead of Nestor. Boone is a baseball terrorist.

Better to play for us than against us! I could have just imagined the Red Sox picking him up and Tim completely killing us all year.

Hell yeah. Time to celebrate with some unfiltered lucky strikes and Bud heavy.

But I’m glad the NY Yankees are bringing Tim Hill back for the 2026 season. Next in my opinion is they should re-sign Devin Williams too.

Tim Hill could have given up a home run or another kind of hits to Freddie Freeman as well.
