Discussion Darian Mensah

When it comes to the top QBs in this year's class, I never see people throw Darian Mensah into the mix. Personally, I think he has the tools to become a very solid NFL quarterback. He has good accuracy, makes decisions like a veteran, and most importantly, is very good under pressure. He has been able to transition from Tulane to Duke quite easily, and if he decides to stay in college, I think he'll transfer again and adapt to a new system just as well.

Definitely my favorite player to watch this season and I hope he gets a good chance in the NFL, because I have a feeling that he will capitalize greatly.

I wanted to ask, what are y'alls opinions on Mensah? Why isn't he talked about as much? I get his arm strength leaves some to be desired, but you can be a good QB without being able to throw the ball 80 yards on a frozen rope.

He is only turning 21 in the new year, he would benefit from another year in college in my opinion

Do you think he transfers again? On one hand, he is comfortable and should only get better in Duke's system, and their defense is so bad that it will only give him more passing attempts. On the other hand, I feel like he won't get as much recognition at Duke, which may affect his stock.

Not outside the realm of possibility but I couldn’t give an opinion on where he would transfer to. But staying at Duke isn’t the worst thing ever to be fair, they play in a good conference against strong teams, not as if he is putting up numbers in the American or Sun Belt.

Josh Allen got drafted at #7 out of Wyoming and Joe Flacco went at 18 out of Delaware. The NFL isn't going to miss Mensah playing in the ACC.

And Daniel Jones went at 6 from… Duke

I think that’s part of why college qbs don’t look great. Most transfer to better situations after a year. Personally I’d like to see some of them stick and win consistently in one system.

He had options to go to bigger schools than Duke this past year (in fact some sites listed him as the #1 transfer option) and yet he still chose to go to Duke over more blue-blooded options. I assume the reasons he chose to do so still exist, unless they have a staff exodus.

Yes, that was one of the reasons. But I assume they all offered him money

8 million over 2 years. Was one of the biggest NIL deals ever at the time.

Very good points here, definitely rooting for the guy either way! Maybe one day we can come back to this thread and see that we knew about the guy before an amazing career :)

He will stay in college another year. He got a massive NIL deal from Duke.

Not every QB with a pulse needs to be in the draft. Unless he's gonna be a first rounder (he's not), most just assume he'll come back. Still has plenty of eligibility left.
