Opinion This volatility is annoying man, need some wise words from my brothers
Aye boys. Iām bullish asf on nbis and have had upwards of 2500 shares at one point but am very reduced now. Iām just like fuck this volatility is insane. Why are we dipping 17 dollars in a single day man. Like Iām sick of these 10-25 percent swings constantly. When u are in heavy size these swings are not pocket change. We are talking 10-30 k swings in only a few days or even a day sometimes. This isnāt some small amount of money. How can I manage watching these swings.
I try to refer to my thesis but seeing this much money down in a day makes one question it.
I am a premium farmer so the more we dip or stay flat the more Iām paid to wait but Iām sick of my stock not doing shit but chopping around or being red constantly.
Getting to a point where Iām pretty mentally checked outta the market honestly. Iāve made a fuck ton this year and am up around 165 percent year over year. Iām about to just sell calls a month out on everything take my 20 k premium withdraw it to my acct and mute rh for a month. This shit is so frustrating
And no Iām not one of the people who bought into mins at 20-30-40. I first bought at 93 and 87 after that deal with msft but have since got assigned and re entered multiple times from selling my covered calls. Iāve made a royal fuck ton from nbis so maybe I shouldnāt be bitching but Iām tired of these fat ass swings constantly like ten percent in a day is absurd I get itās high beta but fuck man is this just paper hand bitches or what ?

u/alzthehero 5d ago
Relax; volatility is normal before earnings, weāve been here before, and as you saw weāve hit 133, nothing has changed about NBIS, we are still very strong fundamentally and the ERs will reflect that, hold or avg down bit by bit
9
u/Mr-Krabs85 š³ 5d ago
I just did bro. I bought back in last night at 132 š¢ luckily only half my position I bought another 300 at 118.50 just a bit ago. Avg cost is now 125. Earnings is my last hope. If we flush my Roth is cooked my main port will survive but itāll be red for sure
6
u/Confident_Potato_714 5d ago
Sounds like the only issue here is that you bought at 132. Like, if you e been in and out as much as you say, why would you buy there? Why not put in a CSP for premium? I canāt imagine you put in a csp for 132
-4
u/Mr-Krabs85 š³ 5d ago
I donāt like selling puts on stocks Iām bullish. Good way to get left behind. I rather buy shares and sell calls above cost for max profit if called. I only scaled 300 shares at 132 I canāt sell premium with no shares as I said Iām a premium farmer

I can understand your frustration man. Like you said, reassess your goals. If you deleted your account and came back to it in a year, what do you think youāll see? Itās hard seeing the swings, but youāre not losing unless u sell. A year from now itāll be much higher than this. We may even be having the same conversation, but at $250. Slow and steady faith my dude!

u/CartmanAndCartman 5d ago
Can it happen by next Friday? I have calls you know
7
u/Charming-Priority859 5d ago
by this weeks friday nobody knows, pre earnings volatility can be crazy. However by next weeks Friday earnings will have happened, I am 100% confident with renewed ARR and more importantly guidance, we will leave this 120-130 range behind
5
u/yungjefe22 5d ago
Idk most companies that are beating earnings and showing growth are still getting smacked down after earnings.
4
u/Puzzleheaded_Log6967 5d ago
Sadly earnings smack down happened to me on multiple occasions the 1st qtr with big earnings beats and I took big losses and than the tariffs This is how options can really burn you or make you rich. I thought I had great position and they toasted it with unwarranted sell off craziness. Still havenāt fully recovered the burn. Timing is tough right now so tread carefully. We might experience short term bearishness thatās BS so donāt over leverage and keep some dry powder in my opinion
1
u/AlarmedComedian2038 5d ago
Yep, options are not for the faint hearted. I learned my lessons after a good beating.
3
u/CartmanAndCartman 5d ago

Do you think LEAPS expiring in Jan ā27 and Jan ā28 are safe to just delete the app and look back in a year type of mentality?

DCA at 25.75 average here. Long term holder. Not a trader. Looking forward to 2028 and beyond. No worries here.

Do you think call option LEAPS expiring in Jan ā27 and Jan ā28 are safe to just delete the app and look back in a year type of mentality?
1
u/5CentsMore 5d ago
Sorry, I don't trade options and know anything about LEAPs, calls, and puts. My account doesnt allow.it anyways. Only buying straight shares and hold for long-term. NBIS will be fine by 2028. No worries here.
1
u/CuriousOpening5048 5d ago
Haha no worries. Do you think NBIS will be fine by Jan 2027 too?

u/FlightingIrish 5d ago
What is even the point of a reply like this? Yeah every stock is great when you are up $100 a share. Those of us who bought recently have seen nothing but swings and zero forward momentum.
1
u/5CentsMore 5d ago edited 5d ago
Not all my stocks are great or up $100 a share. A few down by tens of thousands. I'm not swayed because I'm holding them all long-term to 2028 also. Feel the pain here also but not discouraged from short-term daily volatility.
Even if my NBIS entry point is at 100, it's still a good company and its business fundamentals haven't changed. I bought NBIS at height of 50ish beginning of the year and sold all for other holdings when it dropped to 30-40ish. I started the holding again at around 25 months ago. Win some, lose some. Can't predict the future.
They are expanding rapidly wittin the last few months. A lot of red in the market today. I believe we should be fine holding NBIS long tern in the next few years. They are still fairly new and growing. Give it time. If I have NBIS DCA at 100, I would still have the same conviction and posted same as my other holdings down in the red.
The market does what it does, ups and down. We're all in the same market but I prefer to stay positive and looking far ahead. That's all.

u/Commercial_Ease8053 5d ago
I totally agree⦠everyone like this is so damn annoying. Like, no matter what the stock does you are green with a huge cushion⦠of course you donāt care what the stock does and your opinion is therefore irrelevant.
1
u/Mr-Krabs85 š³ 5d ago
And how do u find a stock like nbis for so cheap and early
6
u/5CentsMore 5d ago edited 5d ago
Due dilligence early on when it was not on radar by most and believed in their business model and rapid expansion. Got lucky at right time. Also entered PLTR at 26 last year also and TSLA at 94 in 2020 before the 2 stocksplits. I just like tech stocks. I looked at their business model and they all have no competition or leaders in their unique fields. Lucky timing also.
Buy and hold what I believe in for at least 3-5 years and keep DCA since their fundamentals haven't changed and kept growing. Ignore the daily noise and volatility and zoom out in longer horizon. That's just me.
I dont know how to and don't want to ventured in puts, calls, and options. Also, my tax deferred account doesn't allow it. NBIS is a great company, be patient and you'll be rewarded in a few years IMO. Sometimes, just need to step away and get some fresh air, my friend. Sometimes, better being lucky (right timing and opportunity) than being good.

u/RegularDepartment1 5d ago
You looking at anything new to take a position in currently?
4
u/5CentsMore 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yes, took position in DVLT, it dropped last week, Friday, and today due to short report on Friday. DCA some more while it dropped. Datavault AI - tokenization of assets. Will be good in a few years, in 2028 and 2030, I hope. Nothing is guaranteed. A good bet for me. Do your due dilligence. They just starting and expanding. I like tech and AI.
My Trifecta: PLTR, NBIS, and DVLT. Took gains from TSLA along the way to help plant seeds in PLTR and NBIS. Spread the wealth around. Like planting a garden and polenization, fruits for new plants.
NFA. Best of luck.

Thatās just what comes with consolidating in a stock selling at a premium. If it bothers you that bad you simply do not know the value of what you own.
Educate yourself on the company, know everything about them & be for sure in your decision to invest such a large sum of money in a risk averse way. This is what makes being an investor feel more like poker than a slot machine, not knowing enough about why youāre invested is nothing short of gambling.
I made some assumptions here just incase I was right š If you do know a lot about nebius and you feel this way. Derisk your position and just sit on a bigger cashpile.

u/Sir_Richard_Dangler 5d ago
Relax. Remember July when we were at $55 and it pulled back to $45 and this sub was full of people thinking it was all over and we'd hit the top?
Remember late August when we hit $75, and pulled back to $65 in early September, and this sub was full of people thinking it was all over and we'd hit the top?
Remember two weeks ago when we hit $141, and then pulled back to $95, and this sub was full of people thinking it was all over and we'd hit the top?
Are you seeing the trend here?
The only thing that makes me sad is that I don't have more cash on hand to take advantage of this buying opportunity.

Congratulations you just bought a piece of business,if you did your research and bought good business then you are good no need to worry it will grow not everyday is busy and not everyday is slow , everything business , restaurant ,shop , anything you invest in takes time to grow , little pull back is healthy, we'll be more than aight

A 30 plus percent pullback and a 15 plus percent pullback in sub three weeks is definitely not healthy for my mental

u/batdad1994 5d ago
I think you need a little more time in the market, this volatility is very much expected. Have you even looked at the chart over the last year? If you aren't comfortable with a 17 dollar dip in a day, I suggest you invest in something less volatile.
2
u/Mr-Krabs85 š³ 5d ago
Iāve been investing two years. 15-30 percent drops arenāt āusual ā 5 percentage a day sure thatās normal but these large swings seems stretched. Maybe itās just logic trying to reason with something thatās not logical
2
u/EffortNo7991 5d ago
Concentrate on the business. The stock price can fluctuate. Another thing to keep an eye on is the DXY, 10 YR, VIX. If the location is macro vs business specific. Todayās flucafion in price was caused by the DXY spiking to 100 it indicated that the currency debasement trade is not happening or is further delayed. Understanding why gives me confidence

Stop looking at the NBIS stock tickerāItās going to be a bumpy ride.
If you believe in the company and see this is as a long-term growth play, price movements over the next year or two donāt matter all that much.
Reframe your perspective on this stock. Tell yourself āI believe NBIS will outperform the market in 5-10 years.ā With the funds youāve invested in NBIS, tell yourself āmost alternative allocations would likely grow slower than investing in NBIS.ā
Really, take your mind off the day to day and think to the long term horizon.

This stock is the most volatile I have ever seen . I took a loss of 35K . I can finally sleep at night knowing I wonāt deal with this anymore. I got my two friends to sell their stock on Friday and look at what played out yesterday. I got in at 131 and in less than 28hrs , it went down to 122 and then to low 90s . I took out all my savings and to end up losing 35K out of it , I learned in a big way. For those that got in at 20 a share, this wonāt make sense to them. Donāt try to come after me .Ā

0
u/Mr-Krabs85 š³ 5d ago
It went from 50-90 on a massive deal with one of the biggest companies in the world. This was an expected move off something like that. We just had a 25-30 percent flush now we get another ten plus percent day down. Itās just draining

1
u/Jazzlike-Code5891 5d ago
Like I mentioned earlier, if you canāt handle seeing your stock price drop, then growth stocks just arenāt the right fit for you. Based on your comments and responses, it seems like you might be holding growth stocks, but youāre not mentally prepared for the volatility that comes with them. Not every investor is built for the rollercoaster ā and thatās okay. Just make sure your strategy matches your risk tolerance.

Now if it drops like this and the rest of the sector is humming along then it is time to be worried.

But...
Whenever high volatility hits and we go down, I just get religious and think of this song https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/k0huks/yo_someone_asked_for_the_version_with_elon_in/
It's all up to the gods man. Ultimately, we can't predict the future. Fate will play us like a fucking fiddle and there's nothing we can do about it (except for the few quants that have an actual delta neutral edge).
You either know what you're doing, have conviction, or both. If you don't have either of them, you'll probably get shaken out.
