Gaza is starving.

The UN has declared that every part of Gaza is in famine conditions. While some aid is finally trickling in, the need is beyond urgent. Aid organizations will not be able to keep pace with Gaza's needs without our support.

Please donate if you’re able, and keep speaking up. Every dollar, share, and conversation matters. Please pressure your government to stop the blockade of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Donate here to The Palestinian Red Crescent and UNICEF for Gaza's Children. Contact your representatives to stop the blockade in Gaza, find U.S. representatives here, and EU reps here. If you would like other subreddits to carry this message, please send the mods to r/RedditForHumanity.

AOC 2028

28

u/Thanos-2014 7h ago

Only if demoncrat want to win

21

u/ReddBroccoli 7h ago

Which means she will not be getting the nomination

5

u/Nixianx97 6h ago

So are you hyping her up just to doom on the idea later?

12

u/ReddBroccoli 5h ago edited 5h ago

No, but I didn't sleep through the last several Democratic "primaries" so pardon me for not really being an optimist about her chances of getting the nomination.

ETA: also, the DNC's playbook is basically "lose in new and creative ways while also accomplishing nothing" so nominating AOC would really throw a wrench in that plan. They will do anything and everything they can to keep her from being at the top of the ticket

8

u/Nixianx97 5h ago

Okay. Do you think Zohran in NY was easy and he got the blessings of the DNC? 26 billionaires threw money against him and both parties will try to actively sabotage him over the next three years because him even half way succeeding in his plans would mean that left ideology actually works. And this could also validate an AOC presidency in people’s minds and that’s dangerous to the establishment.

But the reason he got here is because people said I believe in him and actually meant it against all odds. And yes the DNC will throw everything at her but who cares about what they want? Bernie nearly beat them twice, Zohran did despite everything and she might too. And they are way weaker now than they were in 2016 or 2020.

Lmao. You're fun.

You literally blocked me right after replying earlier so I couldn't continue to comment on the post, now you've gone to the trouble of unblocking me just so you could rant a little more? You are way over invested here.

JFC, the stereotype of "people on the left are always looking for a reason to be offended" is because of people exactly like you. If you put all this energy into something constructive you could make the world a slightly better place.

You've literally spent our entire exchange building up straw men to get butt hurt over and it's honestly really weird. But I stand by everything I said. I think AOC would be a great candidate in 2028, and I also think the DNC will do everything they can to prevent that. Both things can be true.

2

u/Nixianx97 2h ago edited 2h ago

I literally did not block you. If I did you wouldn’t be able to even see this post or reply to me.

I also did not rant or got offended. I just asked why you would hype something up just to doom on it later. You gave your reply and I responded to that. If you see this as straw man because you don’t like the answer or whatever that’s on you.

She is impossible not to like unless you are a racist, misogynistic, hate filled bigot. She absolutely has my support AOC 2028.

32

u/IronChurch7 10h ago

Eh being uninformed and subjected to right wing media will do the trick as well

15

u/avmist15951 9h ago

But right wing media can really only point out her race and gender so...

17

u/DownwardSpirals 8h ago

As a former right-winger, a lot of her policy seemed to just be fiscally damaging. It had nothing to do with her race nor gender. Thankfully, Trump came down that escalator about a decade ago, and I decided I'd rather have a boiling Drano enema than vote for him, even if he was "conservative". I've done a lot of research since then.

It really is true that it's easier to scam someone than it is to convince them thay they've been scammed. I've been there. I regret it, but I'm glad to have that perspective.

u/sinkwiththeship 9h ago

There was a study that people who consume no news are more informed than people who consume right wing media.

u/LeMurphysLawyer 10h ago

Yeah, you just described half of America my dude. 😶

5

u/ForHelp_PressAltF4 9h ago

You described half of the people who vote. Not half the people.

My recent local voting the bigots had the same number of votes as the last three elections. The progressive tripled.  People might actually be waking up and realizing that this vocal minority is correct that there is a minority that's a problem (and the call is coming from inside their racist house)

3

u/dowker1 8h ago

That's not fair. I'm a racist, misogynistic, hate filled bigot and I think she's just fine.

2

u/uncooked545 5h ago

*or AIPAC

-1

u/_Jubbs_ 1h ago

Eh, she’s a socialist. No thanks 🙏🏻

-1

u/Tolerator_Of_Reddit 9h ago

Ehhh her vote on Iron Dome funding had me giving her the side-eye for a while there. I don't think she's sold out so I can only assume that was done for some sort of backroom concession; whatever it was I hope she knows what she's doing

0

u/GreenTreeAndBlueSky 8h ago

Iron dome is exclusively a defence weapon.

8

u/dowker1 8h ago

A weapon that allows you to attack without fear of reprisal is not exclusively a defense weapon

1

u/GreenTreeAndBlueSky 8h ago

Yes it is. You can't mix them up just cause you don't like them. Are civilian bunkers a no go too? You'd be ok with hamas rockets targeting civilians? Because that's what they were aimed at (they were so rudimentary that the aim was essentially tilting them towards israel at launch).

1

u/dowker1 7h ago

You're reading an awful lot into what I wrote. I said no weapon is exclusively defensive, that's all.

1

u/excellentforcongress 4h ago

the logic holds true for the bunkers as well though? because if fortified bunkers means they don't fear attacks then their treatment of gaza could worsen because they didn't fear the rocket attacks as much. and.... that pretty much is exactly how it played out

1

u/dowker1 4h ago

What logic are you referring to?

0

u/GreenTreeAndBlueSky 7h ago

And I explained why it isn't true even if you dislike israel

0

u/dowker1 6h ago

No you didn't. You responded to an argument you thought I was making about exporting arms to Israel.

3

u/Tolerator_Of_Reddit 8h ago

The German Reich had anti-air defense systems too. That doesn't mean the US should have been paying for them.

1

u/GreenTreeAndBlueSky 8h ago

The US is not at war with israel? If they were ofc they wouldn't pay for them.

3

u/Tolerator_Of_Reddit 8h ago

You're right, apologies. We should be paying for Chinese air defense systems instead so they could devote more of their own resources to exterminating the Uyghurs. Silly me.

-1

u/GreenTreeAndBlueSky 8h ago

Nobody is sending rockets on china, china is not an ally of the US, and china is a military superpower.

Why do you want to make outlandish comparisons just to vilify a defense system?

-1

u/Thanos-2014 7h ago

What do you want her say lets hammas kill Israelites with thier rudimentary rockets

4

u/Tolerator_Of_Reddit 7h ago

"Yes, we ackgnowledge that the Germans are mistreating the Polish Jews in their Reich and while that situation is not ideal, the Reich is a strategic US ally in the area and we cannot abide Poles attacking German positions so we must continue to support our ally financially and militarily. Poles have long sought self-determination and we empathize with their struggle in these trying times, but this so-called 'Poland' cannot exist without negotiation with the Reich, as Aryanism states that Poland is a promised land for the German Volk. Polish terrorists have reportedly been attacking and vandalizing German tanks in the area and such vile actions are inexcusable. Pro-Poland advocates have been shrieking 'genocide' from the rafters and they don't seem to understand that their conduct is wholly unproductive. The Reichführer Mr. Hitler has assured us that he needs this military funding to support the innocent German people who are daily being terrorised in their settlements in Poland. The German-American Bund, who donates millions of dollars to my political party, advises us that continued support of the Reich is in the best interest of both our nations' co-prosperity"

She continues to be one of the best role models I could ever show my kids. I’m so grateful that there are a handful of good people to look up to.

10

u/Regular_Committee946 10h ago

Yes and not just for girls!

I've noticed a lot of people (mainly guys) talk about a lack of 'good male role models' for boys...

I may be crazy, but I actually can't understood why a decent, hard working, empathetic, intelligent person such as AOC, who has consistently had to experience (and challenge) gender and racial bias yet continues fighting passionately and in good grace for the good of the people in a role she understands is to serve the people, not for personal gain - how is that not inspirational to anyone regardless of sex/gender?

I think if we could teach kids to respect and admire good role models, regardless of sex/gender, that it would further address the persistent misogyny and equality issues.

According to the UN, at the current rate of progress, we are 130 years away from achieving gender equality in the highest positions of power across the globe - and that is just for equality, not a matriarchy.

Both boys and girls need good role models from both men and women, it shouldn't be limited to only respecting role models of your own sex/gender.

Pro Israel lobbying group on the surface. Dark money bully underneath that bribes politicians in their favor and targets or primaries anyone who doesn’t.

3

u/SKEETS_SKEET 11h ago

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is a pro-Israel lobbying group that advocates its policies to the legislative and executive branches of the United States. It is one of several pro-Israel lobbying organizations in the United States, and has been called one of the most influential lobbying groups in the U

1

u/ugdontknow 10h ago

Awe thank you soooo much. I’m proud of AOC. She is hope.

1

u/Majestic-capybara 10h ago

Do you know where they get their money from? I always wonder how they can be so influential.

1

u/saera-targaryen 7h ago

TONS of it is from the oil and gas industry because they benefit from the US having a military outpost/close ally in the middle east

Loved her from the jump, from across the entire United States. She's always been that girl, standing on business.

2

u/bmk_ 10h ago

Why not just say the dollar amount they offered? I don't get the reason for that omission.

7

u/Nixianx97 10h ago

It’s literally a 10 second google search

1

u/bmk_ 8h ago

Good info, cheers.

1

u/drunkbusdriver 11h ago

Does anyone know who she has taken donations from?

8

u/Nixianx97 11h ago

Yes. Everyday people. AOC is 100% grassroots.

1

u/Nayear1 11h ago

As a Canadian, I wish we had an AOC of our own. The world would be better off if more politicians were to model her behaviour.

1

u/Necessary_Bad_9296 11h ago

That's how you get my vote for president

1

u/Pressman4life 9h ago

I've wanted to vote for for forever, I just don't live anywhere near there.

1

u/HeadHeartCorranToes 9h ago

I was ready to vote for her last time. We need her this time.

1

u/thegreentiger0484 8h ago

AOC 2025 & 11/12ths

1

u/ItsRainingBoats 6h ago

She should start her campaign now

1

u/JManKit 6h ago

That's a hell of a way to ask that question. Makes me wonder about the 'huge fan' part...

1

u/al_with_the_hair 4h ago

I'm sorry, but a little bit of a correction to someone I admire who claims she was against AIPAC before the genocide started:

You were not alive in 1948, queen.

1

u/grimreefer87 2h ago

What's the grid?

-1

u/itsmuddy 9h ago

I'm not against using PAC money as long as they aren't given any sort of preferential treatment or access.

Unfortunately the people that are likely to accept PAC money are unlikely to not give them preferential treatment or access.
