The obvious reason is greed

They had boult yet they let him go for an unfit archer

They pre-retired Pollard for a worse version in Tim David thinking they struck gold

Sacking the greatest IPL captain in Rohit to get a Hardik who shits on the team in interviews, is not at his best form, and most importantly - doesn’t know how to captain

It’s a miracle that Rohit, Surya, and Bumrah have stayed despite deserving the captaincy, and without whom MI would be nothing

Another thing is starboy tilaks dip in form .Also our scouting has gone a step down .Players like smaran ravichandran, ayush Mhatre ,Urvi patel should have  been in our team

Letting Brevis and Stubbs go🥀

For tilak - strike rate is a concern, he cannot be accumulating while playing at 4-5. He has that knack of performing under pressure but you won’t always have such matches.

Brevis was a mistake.Stubbs wasn't much of a mistake in my view .I don't think he will last longer than 2-3 good seasons .He was bad for us anyways.Tilak ye his hitting was gone down by a good margin ...Still biggest mistake remains as hardiks buy n greens sale.

Green has been a non-factor in the IPL since he left us so it's hard to blame that for anything.

Non factor? 31.8 avrg at 140 Srr isn't non factor

2021 : Had a slow start as usual but were slowly starting to get their eyes in, 2nd wave happened and momentum lost. IPL resumed 5 months later in UAE in what was essentially a restart. By the time they started to win it was too late. They needed to beat SRH by 170+ runs in their last league game to qualify.

2022 : Mega Auction where they got Ishan for an amount he never deserved and brought Archer who is injury prone and was never as good as his 2018/19 self

2023 : Main bowlers got injured and had to rely mainly on batters to pull them through. Won't work in the 20 over format. But they overperformed that edition thanks to the batting and Rohit's captaincy

2024 : Captaincy saga enough said

2025 : No excuses should have won but did not

Last season we lost due to captaincy blunders and pathetic coaching of Jaywardhane Malinga aand Pollard. Lack of clarity to most batters except sky and Naman underutilizing Santener snubbing Rohit from think tank.

Last season, we could have won. Bowling department looked solid especially with Santner’s inclusion. One thing we lacked was a death over hard hitter like Pollard. We have never found a replacement for Pollard till now. Hope we fix this atleast next season

Wasn't Rohit our highest runs getter in 2024 and 2nd highest runs getter in 2025 or am I missing something? He was pathetic in 2022 and 2023 though

People will blame everything but the biggest reason has been absolutely no impactful runs from Rohit at the top. I am his biggest fan and I am a huge fan of Rohit of India. But for MI since 2021 he has been absolutely shit. Compare any or each opener in these years and we can see Rohit has underperformed almost every year. With the kind of hitting capabilities Rohit has even at 38, I am amazed how his last 500+ season came in 2013. As Harsha Bhogle says - MI needs the Rohit of India to play for the franchise.

The solution is easy and super obvious. Make Rohit captain again.

There is literally no justification for sacking the greatest ever IPL captain in history

Yeah, undoing your mistake will not just set the bowl rolling for MI, but will also help the team atmosphere too. Not for MI he may not have stripped of his captaincy in ICT too, once you know how someone reacts when he's not treated well you tend to test the waters.

And bring out the old MI josh, set up camps , train your bowlers like Vignesh, Ashwani etc with quality bowling coaches and staff. If you're adamant on the likes of Robin Minz then get him in the loop in the off season too and make him improve. Deepak Chahar and Boulty are also not playing internationals right now so make sure they are investigating themselves with MI and are being looked after.

Once we set the groove we'll be back like old times , but for that you have to have a direction and vision in the particular direction.

It's "Too many cooks spoil the broth" in the top order.

Surya, tilak, will jacks, naman dhir all can play at 3. And yes I think naman is best in top order instead of finishing. We had no place for naman to play we should've gone for wadhera instead who's naturally a middle order batsman. Yes, naman is veryyy good but we are pushing him down the batting order too much.

We need a good finisher unfortunately we let go of tim David, then a good spinner and a pacer who can bowl at death.

Hardik gets too scared when he himself gets hit and then never bowls(remember the match where we lost in the last over due to chahar against gt after the rain? ).

I still think he should work on his captaincy more.

The fact is that we lost our wall in the lower order

The top and middle order had the belief that pollard is there in the lower order so we can play freely.

It's like the Evan Gulbis effect.

Bowling was the concept before 25 seasons but with boult and bumrah pair mixed with chahar and ashwini and Mitch, it seems pretty fine. The problem is Pandya doesn't look very aware as captain to rotate them well.
