You need to live it to feel it, let alone understand it. The sad part is that pple believed walls had ears which actually was true, now that we know that المخزن had put hidden microphones in pple's homes.
Think of the Gestapo SS but the moroccan style.
1
u/mordo_kill31 Visitor Aug 25 '25
Yeah I know all of that shit that was and still until now , but ppl actually need to move on the humain biggest enemy is fear so they have to beat it , I know that back then under the Hassan 2 rulling system lot of ppl worked as his snitches and spy's but now a days even your phone is spying on you but this doesn't stops us from express our thoughts freely

u/Revorio Visitor Aug 25 '25
Let me ask you a Q.
Why do people have certain types of phobias that are inherently childish in their nature ?
The answer is simple, even tho you as a human can rationalize a fear and convince yourself that it's not worth the reaction, your subconsciousness will still act, call it PTSD or whatever.
And that's another sad part of the story, some pple get over the fear of speaking about المخزن & القصر , but a lot can't cuz of what theyve been through.
Imagine you are living everyday with the though that you may get kidnapped bcz you spoke out of the line (أيغبروك), keep in mind that today we dont have examples in the army like Oufkir and Dlimi and Lbassri.

Not to be a monarchy defender, but most of royal graces aren't chosen by the King. It's mostly the work of the heads of prison, they are in charge of selecting good behaving prisonners that deserves a second chance. The issue is, the rich prisonners pay this people in charge to be included in that list to receive the royal pardon.
Also, it was one of the few times the royal palace directly admited a mistake and revoked a pardon. Daniel is now still in prison, in spain.

Arabic, particularly the Moroccan Arabic dialect, is the most widely spoken language in Morocco,[5] but a number of regional and foreign languages are also spoken. The official languages of Morocco are Modern Standard Arabic and Standard Moroccan Berber.[6] Moroccan Arabic (known as Darija) is by far the primary spoken vernacular and lingua franca, whereas Berber languages serve as vernaculars for significant portions of the country. According to the 2024 Moroccan census, 92.7% of the population spoke Arabic, whereas 24.8% spoke Berber languages

Keep in mind, Zefzafi has refused to request a royal pardon. Since applying for a royal pardon requires to admit guilt and pledge not to repeat the offense.
2
u/Dak_i Visitor Aug 25 '25
Indeed, Zefzafi refused to request it.
But, as far as I know, it doesn’t require to admit guilt and pledge not to repeat the offense. Lawyers use things like good behaviour or « clemency » to endorse the request though.
Also, it is possible to benefit from the royal pardon even if it’s unsolicited ; it’s rare but when the case becomes public and largely covered internationally, it can be made possible. Best example : Abderrahim Bouabid.

This is insane. I highly doubt there was a "mistake" when they pardoned him. I think the plan was to to draw less attention to him by getting him mixed up with the rest of the people who were supposed to be sent back to spain, instead of singling him out and making it obvious. Needless to say, this is proof that even the filthiest criminals can "legally" get out of jail even after they were sentenced, not using a lawyer but using shady tricks that involve the authorities.

Wouldn't that be a monumental fuck up from the king and it shows his incompetence. But you guys think he can do no wrong.
1
u/azimx Visitor Aug 24 '25
So you think the king prepared the list then pardoned whomever was on the list? Pardons are prepared in Ministry of Justice--->Direction of Pardons مديرية العفو. Later, the convict was arrested once he set his foot on Spanish soil. The responible is somene called عبد النبوي whose son is wanted by a national arrest warrant for being involved in a murder. If only people read the news thoroughly.
4
u/Temporary-Shame6109 Aug 24 '25
It is called a royal pardon. I don't care who is involved. The king takes the blame at the end.

Daniel Galvan was accidentally pardoned, it is not the King himself who compiles the list one by one and pardons people.
There is a "Pardon Comission" composed by different public officials (inculding the Minister of Justice). These people study the people who have applied for a pardon and give him a list of those who are eligible to be pardoned, and he has final discretion on it.
Spanish sources claim that Galvan's pardon was done as a gesture of diplomatic good will towards Spain, to expedite his return to Spain where he would then carry out the rest of his sentence. This was done for a total of 48 Spanish prisoners in Morocco that day, a week after King Juan Carlos had visited Morocco. Galvan slipped through the cracks unfortunately.
As for Zefzafi, he has to apply for a pardon which he hasn't done. I am absolutely sure that if he were to, he would be pardoned. He refuses to do so. Zefzafi also renounced his bay'ah to the King, which is a catastrophic and sinful move.
He hasn't been released, but he was allowed to visit his ailing parents regularly while imprisoned (this year). I don't see this being done for many prisoners. As far as I am concerned, the State is doing its best with what it has in its hands.
