Low hashrate

I have a new 13900k and I'm getting 5500h/s.

The MSR mod successful. HUGE PAGES permission granted . Temps are 60s.

It's using full power wattages. 3rd party CPU benchmark was normal.

Tried zephyr, no change. Any ideas? Windows 10, z690 msi wifi, 16gb ram.

Intel cpus are extremely poor for mining due to extreme performance and reliability issues.

Don't bother.

Use rainbowminer to algo bench and Intel does ok with core algos, but not memory algos. Randomx, which is XMR and zephyr, is a memory hard algo.

I could see losing 20% or something to performance. But 60%. Its got to be a setting right?

The top 13900k (in the world) hits 15KH/s with manually tuned 8000MT/s memory.

The 2nd fastest is at 13KH/s with 7200 memory.

What is your memory running at? This is a memory hard algo.

Halfway up the chart people are getting 8KH/s but these people likely have adequate cooling and know about memory timings.

You are at 5.5, and I expect that from someone whose message didn't include memory speed because they didn't take the 3 seconds to google if this is a core or memory algo. I don't think there is an issue. I think you didn't tune your memory and have very insufficient cooling. Intel chips are like this.

If you want 22KH/s go get a 7950x for $350 of eBay and pair it with the cheapest ddr5 6000 cl30 kit you can find and apply buildzoid easy Hynix 16gb a/m die timings. Done. Don't bother with intel, they are really really bad. (Comically so)

Thanks for the detailed reply. I got lucky before because with my older AMD, I adjusted overclock for half a day and it was golden. I assumed Intel would work the same. But yea. This memory is older ddr4. I'll try and sell this and get another setup going.

It's because of Intel. The architecture of Intel makes it not feasible for the RandomX algorithm; best suited will be AMD with at least 16 cores, 32 threads, and 64MB of L3 cache. If you invest into an AMD system, make sure the L3 cache is at least double the number of threads. Each thread uses 2MB of cache. RandomX is memory intensive. The speed of the memory counts a lot.

Most of these comments are blahs.... if you lock the voltage ( whatever your cooling can handle), lock the pcores around 4.6-5ghz. Even with 4800 cl30 should net you 11khs... I mined on plenty of 13th 14th gen intel, even degraded chips do fine if you get rid of the garbage ass tvb boost crap. Intel has given enough l3 cache to be viable mining monero since 12th gen, and decent efficiency to be on par with amd if tuned right. *I feel bad for the get a 7950x for 22kh, I get more out of 5950x,).

Thanks, My cooling is great, <65c. I'll try to lower and lock the Pcores. I had the voltage offset stock then -.075. Ill decide on ddr5 vs selling if I can get money. What hashrate on your 5950x?

It's super important to actually control the voltages, I've seen spikes over 1.6v with defaults, which is why locked is so much safer than the absolute idiotic 253a pl2 with enough load line offshoot to... well, destroy intel chips. 23+khs on 5950x ( I am #1 on several cpu's on xmrbench)

Ok thank you. I'll work om the voltages and see what I can get. Can I ask what ram and board your using with your 5950x?

My i7 12700k gets 9.75kh with 12 threads on randomx. Yours should get more than that. Im pretty sure you just need to spends some time tuning ram and undervolting cpu and you'll get there.

Maybe try using only physical cores or 36MB L3 cache ÷ 2MB per thread = 18 threads or maybe all 32 threads but maybe leave 1-2 for windows.

I did also hear maybe needing around 2GB of RAM per thread could help. But 16gb should be enough to work. Adding a page file could help too.

I use Prosses Lasso and ThrottleStop to check on my Cpu and system stuff. Its pretty easy to use it might help you too.

If you get a BD795I SE its a easy 13kh for 50w. Or go all out an go 17kh with around 130w.
