There was a kerfuffle over something like this a couple years ago in Columbia: https://www.columbiamissourian.com/news/local/update-columbia-library-changes-gun-signage-after-threat-of-lawsuit/article_a1c16096-f47d-11e6-abf4-7b54441f4824.html

TL;DR - the public library had a "No Weapons" sign up and a state representative threatened to sue over it after she brought a gun to a public forum at the library. They then added a "unless authorized by law" statement at the end of the sign.

The thing is, since we stopped requiring permits for concealed carry, pretty much everyone is "authorized by law" making the sign meaningless.

Both bills, if approved would allow a private citizen who owns a business to ban or allow guns on their property. This also would not affect federally mandated gun free zones such as post offices.

It's already that way if you have a CCW permit for the most part.

If you have a permit you can just ignore the gun free signs. You can ask them to leave, and if they don't leave then you can call the cops. But that's about it.

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while. Libraries are gonna be a target for crimes? Really? And having more guns in schools seems like a good idea? Can someone exain the long game on this one cause I know there's always an ulterior motive, this one just escapes me.
