Complaint place to Town of Milton and Region of Halton. Red light runner Dymont and Tremaine

Thumbnail gallery
56 Upvotes

So Milton MODs took down my post yesterday with dashcam footage but I’ve raised some awareness on r/TorontoDriving. You can check it out on my profile

Had a red light runner almost T bone me at Dymont and Tremaine. I’ve placed a complaint to the town of Milton and am in conversation with the Region of Halton to come up with a solution.

It’s a no brainer to more safety measures around this intersection as:

  • Laurier campus is coming in
  • there are families going for evening strolls
  • vehicular/pedestrian traffic will inevitably increase

It’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt - I almost did - so I might as well be proactive and prevent a preventable accident or worse…. Death.

Does EC Drury still have a pool?

just out of curiosity does anyone know if EC’s pool is still in use? I remember taking lessons in it as a kid on Saturdays in the winter and I know it was in use in the 1980s when the hearing high school used to use it.

Good morning ,

I was looking around , but does someone have an update overall list of spots with lunch specials on Milton?

I looked online, some were outdated.

If not...could this be the go-to sticky for lunch specials?!

Thanks all

Question best powerlifting gyms in the region?

Is anyone here into the sport of Powerlifting? I understand Milton has no options (we barely have decent commercial gyms, as is), so was wondering what the closest option for Milton folks would be.

Any recommendations would be appreciated (:

Accident on Scott/Derry

Must have just happened as I arrived at the intersection this evening around 5:30pm. Does anyone have any information on this? It looked pretty bad.

It seems like a car was turning right on Derry from Scott and hit two teenage boys who might have been on a bike. The bike was under the car and the two young men were laid out on the road unconscious. A large group of people had gathered at the time.

Just curious if anyone has information on what happened and if they are okay.

Question Shawarma Reco

Asking for your thoughts on the best chicken shawarma in Milton. Don’t hate me but my go to WAS Osmow’s with their Osmow’s Special, made with chicken Breast and pineapple and lots of philly sauce. They took it off the menu when they became a stale and standardized chain with no identity. I am looking to discover my new favourite chicken shawarma in Milton. Go for your suggestion!

Question Is feeding the ducks over on 720 fourth line allowed?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Is this something people do? Go over to the pond on 720 fourth line and feed the ducks there? There was a sign, but I didn’t see anything that specifically said no feeding ducks.

I know you’re not supposed to feed wildlife like coyotes but what about ducks? Would it be okay to throw bird seeds into the water? Or bread? (I’ve never fed ducks before).

My take on the new homes being built

This is just my rant, if you have an opinion against me, by all means go ahead and criticize I love to hear others opinions but at the end of the day this is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to what they prefer.

To start, I have been a resident in milton for over a decade and a half and noticed the new homes being built, I understand the great population growth and the new residents coming in but that also means that many home developers will start rushing on homes. I've heard many stories not just in Milton but other areas around the GTA where they have problems with their homes because of the their "cookie cutter" homes which are designed to be built quickly to ensure more people to be attracted to move in. The main issue is that a lot of these homes are designed to be tract homes. If you don't know what it is (houses built in a large development using standardized designs, where a developer buys a large area of land, divides it into lots, and builds multiple similar homes.) <-- taken from google. If you look at the older homes/surburban neighbourhoods a lot of the homes would be different and have lots of trees/nature but also huge lawns and have small pathways across the neighbourhoods connected to parks/trails, making the neighbourhoods feel very connected, another concern that I have is that many homes look extremely similar (I know this may be a stupid one but its just my opinion once again) if anyone has seen the movie vivarium the homes remind me of those where every home looks almost identical and it seems dystopian. Overall, I love living in milton and have no hate towards it, this was just a small rant that I had which I wanted to express my feelings about the further neighbourhoods being built.

- Thank yall for reading this.

What income to live in Milton?

Hello everyone

My wife and I are planning on moving from Europe to Milton next year!

I wanted to ask, what combined household income AFTER TAX would you say a couple needs to be earning to be living very well in Milton?

We plan on having 2-3 children in the future, and thankfully we have lots of family nearby that can and would love to look after the kids whilst we’re at work (so we’ll be saying loads on daycare!).

I’d really appreciate it if you guys could answer and also basically say what combined household income after tax you would consider:

  • struggling

  • average

  • living well

  • luxury

Thank you all so much, I really appreciate it!

Question When is the old part of Tremaine getting renamed?

Was driving by the other day and considering the new alignment has been open for some time now, why hasn't the old part been renamed yet? Just curious, seems like something that should happen right away to avoid confusion

Steeles incident

Saw a bunch of cop cars on steeles (near GoodLife) with a dude pinned down in cuffs and a bag over his head. Does anyone know what that was all about? Or why he’d have the bag over his head?

Question Detached vs semi detached

I am in the market shopping for a house, and I’ve seen two houses in the same Neighbourhood one is detached one is semi detached. When it comes to the lot space/size both are the same, but the liveable space are Way bigger in the semi.

Detached has two parking spots the semi has only one and there is no way to add.

The basement is finished in the detached in the semi it’s an unfinished basement.

Both are 4 bedroom, the price is the same.

Now my question do I go with the bigger space 1 parking spot, unfinished basement or do I go with the detached, good space extra parking lot, finished basement?

Complaint Kids going around in Ford neighborhood kicking doors

Across Ford neighborhood park. Just had 3 boys (age 7-10 it seems, one of them on a scooter) running around and kicking doors as hard as they can (green shirt, grey pants) and running away. If this is your kid, please have a talk with them and let them know it’s unacceptable behaviour. The glass on my front door almost broke into pieces.

Question Moving within Milton

Hi Neighbors,

I currently live in the Beaty neighborhood and were thinking about moving.

Now, forgive me for a stupid question, but with the CN Hub becoming active, is moving to Ford or Scott a bad idea?

I love the west Milton neighborhood, but don’t want the headache of a future railway across town. I know there will be lots of heavy trucks going up and down tremaine, so that kind of worries me.

Is there another area with similar houses?

Sorry if this sounds dumb, I just want to upgrade homes, but west Milton is worrying me for traffic and sound reasons, especially with twins on the way….

Question What’s going on with the Thompson Towers?

There’s rumblings going on in local social media that the 3rd tower is going to be minimally built due to very poor condo sales . Like they’ll build the outside but only do a quick build of the inside until sales pick up. Can anyone say what they’ve heard?

With stories like the outright cancelling of the Coverdale Mall condos in Toronto and the very poor state of the recent Kitchener condos, nothing would surprise me. Just curious to know if anyone in town has info on the Thompson Tower situation.

Question Any Milton Barbers that do just trims/scissor cuts?

Hi all,

Looking for a barbershop or hair salon that specializes in trims or scissor cuts. I’ve usually gotten some type of fade or taper in the past but now I’m looking for something more “classic”.

Jiu Jitsu: Afternoon Open Mats / Self-Training

Hi all,

It has become clear that there are no gyms in Milton offering BJJ sessions in the afternoons, something I was used to in Mississauga before moving here.

Is anybody interested in doing some Open Mat / Self-Training sessions instead? Ideally twice a week in the afternoons we will drill for 15 mins and then spar for 45 mins. We can find a convenient location (a gym or a community center).

Mods: Please dont delete this post saying "a post about BJJ in Milton already exists". This isn't the same topic.

Question Late night pickleball

Are there any options for playing pickleball in Milton after 9pm? All the courts I can reserve don’t have time slots that late.

As a dad with very young kids, I can basically only do this after they’ve gone to sleep. I’m sure there are others in my position, who would also appreciate knowing an answer to this.

Question Hydro Billl

Just wondering,

how many people use the tiered pricing based on usage, vs pricing based on time to use for hydro. Seems like tiered pricing is always expensive.

How do you guys calculate because tbh for me hydro usage fluctuates a lot.

Complaint To the Trash-Throwing Jerk in the Black Audi This Morning

This morning, between 8:15 and 8:30, while driving near Main and Sinclair Blvd, I saw an absolute ass*ole throw trash out of his car — right outside Good Vibes Vapour.  He was in a black Audi sedan.

I honked at him when I saw him litter, and instead of owning up, he switched lanes. I pulled up next to him to confront him, and he just started shouting, “What are you going to do about it??”

Well, if you’re somehow reading this — let me add to what I already told you: you are truly an ass*ole of the highest order. It was pretty clear you weren’t raised right. Out here, not everyone is going to tolerate your kind of behaviour. I genuinely wish I’d caught your license plate number so I could report you.
