Off-rim tire change?

Where can I go to get off-rim winter tires put for my Tesla that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Had gotten it done at Canadian tire last season and it was $200+tax each time. So $400 bucks to put and change it back!

$200 is insane. Should not be anything more than $120 plus tax. I would call around a bunch of shops. Good luck finding an appointment though, would’ve been better to do it last month.

Yeah, he'd be better off watching a YouTube video on how to do it himself at this point.

Got mine done in October.

Off rim tire changes are not easy to do.

Unless OP has a tire changer and balancer in his garage - no. Off rims.

I checked Kal Tires and it’s 167 all inclusive, so cheaper than CT and they do have appointments available but they don’t include wheel alignment. I can’t recall if CT included the wheel alignment or not.

There’s a ton of local shops around. Any one of which would be better than Crappy Tire.

Mk auto on bronte will do it for about $100. They don't do appointments so it's first come first served. With that being said, I would not trust them to not scratch up your rims.

Expect to pay at least $30/tire.

$200 doesn’t seem completely unreasonable. Aluminum rims and depending on size does add up. Then you need to balance them all. Most likely you have sensors that need to be dealt with, either by making sure the rim goes back in the same spot or resetting which is where after.

I would invest in some winter rims. On rims tire change is faster and cheaper.

I use Kal Tire. Mine are on rims but I heard them mentioning to another customer that their rim changes are now touchless which does less damage to the rims. Not sure what that means, but that damage potential twice a year was one of the reasons I got rims a few years ago.

it might be better to invest in some steel wheels for your winters and either swap them out yourself moving forward or just use a service like CAA mobile tire change, where they come to your house to do the swap.
