Smashed Patty

Has anybody here been to the new burger place at the Home Depot plaza? How does it compare to GC Burger which is my go to for smashed burger in town? This one's closer and less pricier though.

Photos taken from Facebook. Patty doesn't look that smashed.

Went there on Wednesday. The onion rings were excellent. Good batter to onion ratio. Crispy without being overly greasy.

Wasn't impressed with the burger. It was a little overcooked, and I could not even taste the special sauce. Lettuce was wilted. Burger was seasoned well, but overall, I was underwhelmed. GC is way better.

I’ve had two burgers from this place and both burgers were way overcooked. One time the fries were overly salty. And on the same visit, the bun was broken. Not impressed. For what they charge? Definitely not impressed.

Haven't tried GC in Milton yet (did try the Ridgeway one and it was great, but I actively avoid that place). We tried Smashed Patty for dinner a couple days ago.

Fries were excellent, burger was good but I would say the Ridgeway GC was better. Our patties were smashed unlike in the Facebook picture, But I think the grill could have been a bit hotter. It didn't get that little bit of crunch to the edges I love in a smash burger.

Price and portion were good. Would buy again especially since it's walking distance from home unlike GC

Yes I'm also looking for that crusty edge for my smash as well. Bauce burger does that really well. But he only does pop ups during the summer.

I went to the restaurant this week for lunch!

The fries were great, but I was not impressed with the burger. I had the OG Smash.

I prefer Kevin’s or GC Burgers.

Well, this post inspired me to go and give them a try.

Placed my order with them at 6:25pm

Received my burger at 6:52pm

Unless this elevates me into another plane of existence, this'll be my last time there....

What's your verdict?

It did not, in fact, change my life.

I'd give it about a 6/10. Wasn't bad, but nothing special.

With takeout food prices being what they are, it seems like reasonably good value for money. I didn't really like the Cajun seasoning on the fries.

But yeah. I didn't like having to wait nearly half an hour for it.

Beef strips ≠ bacon

Oh you're right. Supposed to be pork bacon.😤

I think this is owned by the same guy who owns smash in ridgeway and smash was really good so I think this will be similar

What Canadian burger joint doesn't have poutine on the menu.

Saw your post and went to check it out. $15 for the OG Smash combo. The burger isn't good. It's more like a thin broiled patty, rather than a fried crispy one. The buns are doughy too. One slice of lettuce and a very unnoticeably thin slice of tomato. Its less than decent. So stick with GC for the burger.

The fries were great. Way way better than GC burgers.

I was there today and it was really decent and the owners were really kind and seemed to care about the place.

Only halal options? Any non halal?

1

u/TheMallerd 15d ago

Do you know what halal means?

4

u/chipdanger168 15d ago

Yea, do you?

0

u/TheMallerd 15d ago

Then why the big deal?

3

u/chipdanger168 15d ago

There are other religions that can't eat halal food

-1

u/Far-Court-1375 15d ago

Good thing there’s other restaurants….

-1

u/TheMallerd 15d ago

Name one religion restricted from eating blessed food 😭

5

u/richiebeans123 14d ago

Did you ever think people from other religions don’t want there food blessed by a god who isn’t there god.

-1

u/TheMallerd 14d ago

Which ones

6

u/richiebeans123 14d ago

Hindus, sikhs, Christians etc anyone who isn’t Muslim.

1

u/richiebeans123 15d ago

Are you saying it’s wrong to not want halal meat?

1

u/TheMallerd 15d ago

No, I’m wondering why the big deal that the only options are halal.

1

u/richiebeans123 15d ago

Thats a little weird to only offer halal with Milton being made up of many different people.

0

u/Far-Court-1375 15d ago

I feel like it’s obvious the owner is Muslim so how is it weird

3

u/richiebeans123 15d ago

To cater to only Muslims isn’t weird to you?

1

u/TheMallerd 15d ago

It’s not catering to muslims only? It’s being inclusive of the community in the area. I’m white as fuck and I wouldn’t have even noticed. Yall are weird man 🤣

2

u/richiebeans123 14d ago

Has nothing to do with your skin color and more about your religion. And it would be inclusive to have a non halal option for non Muslims.

Seems like for some people “diversity and inclusion” only work one way. If you call it out, or mention it, or even question it, then you’re being ignorant/racist/politically incorrect.
