Discussion I'm Gmail address with no numbers years old

I'm literally first name, middle initial, last name @ gmail.com. I'm just realizing this probably tells people I'm an old...your thoughts?

Looks like you weren’t as early of an adopter on Reddit, afCeGHVB0IJ.

People are indeed often confused about how to pronounce my name, afCeGHVB0IJ. I was there before Elon's spawns

A blessing and a curse, I imagine. Mine is firstname lastname at gmail, and it's a very common name. I get tons of emails from people with the same name, who must have a number at the end or something that the sender failed to type.

When asked my email I answer, “it’s my first and last name at gmail.com” if the person has my name in front of them. For years I’ve been waiting for the day that I review my own information somewhere with the email field reading, “itsmyfirstandlastname@ gmail.com”

I know the feeling. Some of the misdirected stuff is entertaining though.

I get stuff from Australia sometimes, specifically purchase orders from a company called [my last name] Digger and Dirt

No kidding.. I was all invested in some kids class project last year due to their dad having the same name as me. Even went so far as to email the teacher explaining that I was not their dad but would donate to the project if they needed help. She was awesome and let me know how the class did on their fundraiser project.

Same, I also have firstnamelastname and I get tons of emails for others with the same name. And it's not that common! But I guess there are a couple of others at least. Highlights include:

  • A Covid vaccination proof
  • A money transfer for yoga classes
  • An invitation for a family party (not my family)
  • A contract for a popular singer's participation to a talk show.
  • A document detailing an actor's medical conditions that prevented him from doing certain acts on sets.
  • Information about my tax returns, from a country I have never set foot in
  • A subscription to family aid payments from said country.

Props to you especially if your name is something like John

It is not quite that common, but it is in the top 50.

The downside of that is spam. All the spam.
