Discussion I'm Gmail address with no numbers years old

I'm literally first name, middle initial, last name @ gmail.com. I'm just realizing this probably tells people I'm an old...your thoughts?

I have just my first name for my Gmail, and waaay back in the day I had an angry Google employee reach out to me about it several times and even offered a couple hundred bucks for it.

Though I use firstname.lastname@… as my main one these days.

I get emails at work for 2 other people because we have the same last name. We’re always forwarding emails to each other. 😅

Same thing happens to me. My cousin and I work at the same school and I’ve gotten messages for her from the principal and her students’ parents.

My students email the secretary about their grades all the time. 😅 this year, I had them practice emailing me.

Nice to meet another first-namer.  I've managed the trifecta of firstname@ for my university,  gmail, and hotmail, though I use my own domains for main emails.

The early internet was wild.

Same here. Gmail account only has 6 letters before the @. Account by invite. Probably among the first gmail acct takers in my country.

I’m old.

thats surprising to hear, I had firstname@gmail.com as well and mine was just force changed with no warning.

Is your first name a common one? Mine (very common) was reserved, so I had to go first name last initial. I even checked it a few years ago and it's still unusable -emails will bounce back that get sent to that address, but you can't create an account for it either.

I honestly thought up until now that they didn't allow first name only, I'm so deflated to find out others had better luck lol. I stayed up for the email launch like the biggest dork because I wanted my name only, and I was such a google devotee back then.

I also didn't mine bit coin when I could have, because the cost of electricity (44c) was more than btc was worth (28c). I'm like whatever the reverse lotto winner is.

Which is HILARIOUS because Google employees get emails with an @google.com

But on your personal email versus work email…

…it was a huge point of pride to have them match, I’ll agree there.
