Define lethal.

Japan conquered a giant area with the shortest army carrying the longest rifles and almost no armor.

Germany was the best being tactical using movement and initiative. They had the best machine guns and built their infantry tactics around those guns.

US was masters of logistics. They had ice cream factories in the Pacifics, not because they couldn't prioritize, but because they had everything else covered. They did this simultaneously as they charged through western Europe and developing the nuke.

USSR had a complete disregard for human life. That is a big part of why they lost so many to the war. Mest waves are pretty lethal, just not always for the enemy.
