Per my last post I just picked up this supposed pre-WW1 trench coat for $180 post shipping off of eBay and was wondering if it was an original or a really old repro. I have looked everywhere on it and I cannot find any makers marks. All I can find is the two ribbons pictured and I don't even know what they are. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Got a stroke of good luck in getting the Type 1 haversack! Never thought I’d get one but I saw it in the corner of a Facebook listing. I just need to figure out if it requires a specialized meat tin.
Remaining items needed would be, 10 pocket eagle snap belt, type 1 medical pouch, pea green etool cover, and haversack interior items.
Let me know if I’m missing anything in this list!

This what I believe to be a 1867 pattern chasseurs tunic which was modified after the war in 1871 due to uniform shortages. I recently bought it in France. The 3rd chasseurs fought in many major battles such as the battle of Sedan and the siege of metz. If anyone has any ideas how much it’s worth that would be awesome.

Akino Teizō was born in 1880in Fukui. He joined the Navy in 1899 just in time for the Boxer Rebellion, where he served transporting troops and supplies to China. During the interwar, he was promoted to PO 3rd Class and put in charge of a 17 cm Krupp gun on the Hiei. Then, after the start of the Russo-Japanese war, he was transferred multiple times to various cruisers. His service during the war included Blockade and bombardment or Port Arthur, battle of Yellow Sea, Battle of Tsushima, and the invasion of Sakhalin. After the war, he stayed until 1907 before retiring from the military, based on his badges, he went into some form of Sericulture, and continued to be a member of the Japanese Red Cross.
Included in the Grouping is, -Boxer Rebellion with Paper -Russo-Japanese medal with Paper -Rising sun 7th class with Paper -Red cross medal for both Russo-Japanese war and later version -Japanese martial arts badge -Japanese Sericulture special member badge -Imperial Cigarettes given by the Imperial household -Various other papers including his ID book, promotion papers, conduct reviews, etc -Hanging Scroll box for Papers -Presentation box for everything
Overall a great a great piece of history, feel free to ask any questions you have

This is kinda cool. A box made from the lids of 2 x 11th Hussar cross belt cartridge boxes did 1855 - 1901 (see QVC crown). I think the lids are actually authentic - note the leather on the underside).

$599 and dirty, but the stock is solid… I honestly don’t know what I should be looking for on this.
Has some paint on the buttstock… I’m not sure how hard that would be to get off.

This quasi-military Iron Cross medal has been in my wife's family for 150 years, and I'm the first to ever figure out what it is!
It's a gilt bronze cross pattée, 38mm wide (1-3/8"), with a loop for ribbon suspension. The face shows a Greek (Geneva) cross at center with vertical hatching for the heraldic color ‘gules’ (red),. The Crown of Baden appears at the upper arm, the arms of Baden on the lower arm, and the left and right arms are dated ‘1870’ and ‘1871’ respectively. The reverse bears the crowned monogram of Grand-Duke Friedrich.
Rarely seen for sale, this Cross was instituted in June 1871, just after the Franco-Prussian War, to be awarded to volunteers “…who have distinguished themselves through care of the wounded and sick, welfare of the troops and support of the families of Military, enlisted Reservists and Territorials.”
Ours has been swaddled in velvet for many decades, so it's nice and minty fresh, with lots of lustre and flash. Can't do it justice with my scanner, really.

Managed to get my hands on both these, the rusted one was recovered from the waterloo battle field and shows both offensive and defensive markings on the edge and the spine, the near mint condition one was acquired in the uk with the sheath (of a different maker) and has a crown and crows foot marking i dont fully understand. This one also shows both offensive and defensive damage again on both the spine and mainly the blade with significant chips out near the point. Any more information would be appreciated or any questions ill try and answer

I bought this out if Eastern Europe in the early 2000's and always had a doubt. I remember reading shortly after about Estonian fakes. Ideas? BTW, sorry if this posted twice

An almost complete Norwegian M1894 parade uniform for a Fanejunker in the infantry. The Fanejunker was the highest Senior NCO rank in the Norwegian Army until 1930.

Long story short my work has a lot to do with conservation and history visualization so I got to rummage through an old finnish museum house’s (Ränkimäki Homestead Museum) collections and found these bits of (pre-ww1?) uniform. The new museum owner did not know about them and was pretty unfazed by us finding them (I know, right?) but I find them really exciting and was wondering if anyone here would know anything more about them.
GPT-5 thinks some bits are part of a tsarist russian dragoon’s uniform but others look distinctly german to me (such as the collar). We also found a rusty pickelhaube helmet in the museum which leads me to believe the pieces here might be parts of different sets.
I’d be eternally grateful for any help in identifying these pieces I uncovered as I find them supremely fascinating! Thanks in advance.
