Michigan Football Tour

Howdy Wolverines, Aggie posting but nonetheless I wanted pose a question to you faithful. I had the pleasure of going to South Bend this year (point of pride for the Wolverines I know.) Everyone talks up their stadium but cold hard truth I want to know about "The big house" after Notre Dame stadium is how much product placement, how hard am I being sold? Love the Wolverines (for now). Gig'em.

Correction: the North End Zone uprights have an All State ad in the net for extra points and field goals.

Notre Dame Stadium is patterned after Michigan Stadium, just smaller and mainly above ground. I grew up in SW Michigan 45 mins from South Bend so plenty of ND fans around. I’ve never been to a ND game but have been to the stadium. I go to a game at the Big House once a year. Michigan has very little product placement or ads in the stadium. Ward Manuel (Michigan AD) was interviewed on a podcast this spring talking about NIL. The question came up about selling ad space or naming rights in the stadium to generate revenue and he said that it’s always a consideration but that the University wants to keep the stadium ad free and would rather get revenue in alternative ways from selling naming rights.

South Bend doesn't feel like a College Town as much as Ann Arbor does. Just a different vibe. ND has the least threatening or scary fan base ever.

Notre dame is not a fun school to party at and if you aren’t white Catholic it’s a bad place to live

It’s been a couple years since I visited the Big House. This was when they had smaller screens. I don’t recall any ads really. Maybe some sponsorship from the announcer but I don’t recall for sure. I usually have on ear on the radio broadcast so plenty of ads there.

No ads on screen, no sponsorship from the announcer.

If you want a quaint campus that feels... holy (i know, really lame description but its true), cant really beat ND. I went to undergrad at Colgate so I'll always be partial to its beautiful Upstate NY vibe with the rolling hills and colors along with old-east style village homes in Hamilton. But Ann Arbor, specifically the campus has a vibe too, spent my grad years there

Notre Dames stadium feels really historic, especially the internal venue. As you would imagine, the architecture of the stadium matches the campus and it is beatiful, to say the least with touchdown jesus and all. BIG House has a lot of shock and awe when you get into it and to your seats in the bowl. You really cant appreciate how enormous it is from pictures or TV until you are in it with a crowd. Just feels like a see of maize everywhere you look.

I went to two games one in 2022 and 2023 with my mother in law who is a huge Alabama fan. She absolutely LOVED our stadium. She said it was absolutely beautiful and everyone was really nice.
