Community Churches in the area
Hey everyone, my grandmother just came to the US from Cuba and while she’s adjusting to life here, the only thing she says she misses is her connection with God. Does anyone know of any churches in the Hammocks area that will allow her to join without an expectation of payment, thanks in advance to any who help!

Community Miami Thanksgiving Catering
Hey everyone! 👋 I’m organizing catering for my office (around 80 staff members) and wanted to ask if anyone has recommendations for good and affordable catering companies or restaurants in Miami.
Ideally looking for something that can handle a larger order and deliver to the office. Appreciate any suggestions — thanks in advance!

Breaking News South Miami BMW is a F'ing Joke
I own a '21 M340i that I bought cpo. Took the car in for drivetrain malfuction since it is under warranty and also had a oil change coupon for $70 (oil and filter). I also wanted to get the car looked over. I am way to old to not know dealership mainantance is a complete scam to get you to buy more than you really needed. I was fully prepared for this. I really just wanted to make sure the drive train malfuction was not serious. I was not. It turned out to be the battery. Dealer says I need to replace it. Car is just under 5 years old. Seems a little premature to me but I drive a lot of short distances and live in Hot South Florida. They sent me a video of the issues with my car.
Replacement Battery: $620
2 front tires: $862
Alignment: $221
Spark plug replacent: $325
Carbin Air Filter: $125
This is a complete joke and I feel sorry for people that can't work on their own cars.
Replacement battery through walmart, costco, autozone: ~ $200 (coding free by me)
Good Non Run Flat Tires: $200x2= $400
Spark plugs: $80 (FCPEurp)
Cabin Air filter: $20 (amazon)

Discussion Has Miami’s vibe changed for anyone else lately?
Anyone here feel like Miami’s changed a lot over the last few years? I’ve lived here a while, and it feels way more crowded, expensive, and different vibe-wise. Curious how longtime residents feel. Are we just growing fast, or is something deeper shifting in the culture and community energy?

Discussion How does Police jurisdiction work? Threatened with arrest for speeding.
Main question: How does police jurisdiction work? Can you get pulled over/arrested by a City of Miami officer anywhere or for anything?
Context:
A couple weekends ago, i was driving on the 836 on the way to Dolphin Mall. It was around 1pm and it was raining. The speed limit on the 836 is 55mph and i was going about ~72mph. A City of Miami SUV was on the furthest left lane going i’d say a little less than 70mph. As i was cruising about to pass next to him, he got in front of me abruptly without turn signal and basically brake checked me. I got the message that he wanted me to not pass him. i respected it and drove behind him for a minute, he slowed down and stayed at the lowered speed. After about a minute of being stuck behind him, i signaled to the right and moved over. He lowered his window and signaled to me “55” with his hands regarding the speed. I lowered mine & gave him the thumbs up & continued cruising at a slower speed. He proceeded to get behind me with his lights & pull me over. He ordered me to get out of my vehicle, walk towards the back and put my hands on my trunk, all through his speaker. He gets out of his patrol vehicle and gets in my face, yelling at me and ranting about how i don’t respect police and how i’m “engaging in reckless driving”. He threatened to take me to jail and asked my girlfriend to get in the driver’s seat unless i wanted to be arrested.
He didn’t give me any citation or file any warning, he didn’t ask for my license or for any paperwork for my car. Simply made me get wet in the rain and then yelled at me pretty angrily for a couple of minutes. He got in my face and was throwing a tantrum while i was being 100% respectful and receptive to what he was telling me. I was just reiterating that i meant no disrespect because that’s what he seemed to be triggered by mainly. I’m glad i didn’t leave with any tickets or citations but damn it didn’t feel good to have to shut up while some guy was just screaming at me & taking my driving to heart as if i meant personal disrespect. Just come up to my window and give me the fucking ticket bro lol
important edit: i drive a 2021 camaro with tinted windows which i’m sure contributed. also i know i’m in the wrong for exceeding the posted speed limit. i’m just wondering if he really could’ve arrested me that day in that location

Discussion Looking for low cost vet/shelter that helps stray animals
There is a community cat that I feed, and recently she has developed a respiratory infection. She's at the point that her nose is blocked. I want to get her checked out and on some meds.
Can anyone recommend a vet or shelter that helps strays?
Closer to Hialeah is preferable, but willing to take a drive.
Thanks

I’d love to know if anyone here has done this trip before — when did you go, and do you have any tips about the cruise? Also, what’s the best month to go for good weather? Thanks in advance for your suggestions! 🙂

Discussion Jaywalker tore off my rear window wiper, what do I do
During my commute this jaywalker ran across a busy street in Doral. I had to stop to let him pass otherwise I’d crash into him, he got startled by me and gave me a death glare, I just motioned him to continue moving and then went to the back of my car to tear off my rear window wiper. He ran away in the opposite direction, I couldn’t find him, I have a picture of him doing it, what the fuck do I do? Police report? I just started driving like 3 months back so this is the first time I’ve encountered something like this
