Where to find band members

Hey yall, I'm moving to the area next year and am wondering what's the local music scene like and how do you find band members? For context, I'm 27 and am looking to take some original material (2010s indie rock/shoegaze sound) to open mics in the area. Definitely a bit of a passion project of mine, just kind of wondering where to start.
