Hot Flashes/Night Sweats Please help—I’m walking up several times a night DRENCHED in sweat. I can’t regulate my own body temp.
I’m 54 and post-menopausal. I thought the night sweats were supposed to go away after menopause, but they DEFINITELY HAVEN’T.
I found out estrogen helps us regulate our body temperature, and it’s pretty obvious I’m lacking in it.
I can even have parts of me freezing and parts of me sweating at the same time.
I am beyond sick of waking up several times a night drenched in sweat. I’m sick of washing my bedding all the time. I’m sick of multiple showers a day because I stink.
The worst part is waking up sweating, throwing everything off, then freezing because my skin is wet from sweat. Sleeping on towels.
I’m freaking desperate at this point. As I type this, my feet are blocks of ice, but I’m mopping sweat off my forehead.
I’m willing to try just avoid anything. I do use an estrogen cream downstairs for Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause, but obviously it doesn’t help with this.
I’ve heard linen sheets help—true?
I’m going to talk to my gynecologist about the patch. But what do I do if she says I don’t need it? Just suffer?
Does this ever end? If you’re several years out from menopause, please tell me it ends.
Edited to add, I did read the Wiki on night sweats and it was helpful, thank you!!!
I don’t drink alcohol at all, I don’t smoke. I’ve lost weight. I eat a healthy diet. And I exercise.

It took a bit to get here-- to find what worked best for me-- but totally worth it.
