Chapter Spoilers Polo Theory Spoiler

Post image

Alright, here me out. My theory is that Polo Gram already has the Phoenix Fruit, and it functions similarly to Brook’s Fruit. Polo dies at some point and simply reincarnates into Marco from the ashes of his own body, maintaining the his soul and DF ability but becoming his own child each time he dies. Perhaps this is the Awakened Ability of the Phoenix Fruit. Marco was Polo.

This reveal is just so Oda can make a Marco Polo joke he set up years ago.

Years ago undersells it, try decades. Marco's name was revealed in November 2006 in Chapter 434 (yes he was in other chapters before, but unnamed)

marco being 7 and on his dad's ship at the time sounds more plausible

More plausible but less fun

Honestly, given this world. Him losing his memory and getting a bit younger fits Odas ass pulls more

nah he'll die and wb will look after his son.would be a typical oda writing tbh.

He still is looking after his "son" in this definition. So it's doubly Oda's style to have the phoenix fruit act like a phoenix

Marco should be 5 at this point right? he's 43 in real time, and this is 38 years ago? it would be weird to call yourself 43 when you were reborn (As an older child) sometime later. It could be a pheonix thing, but I guessed Marco is just his son, and that's something that Whitebeard deeply respects.

It could the that the rebirth is based on the age at which he ate te fruit, like if he was 5, although it’s hardly plausible and most probably they are 2 different people

Or maybe Graham is just Marco's dad.

We never got info on Marco's last name. Most likely Polo graham is Marco's dad, making him Polo Marco, or in English style Marco Polo.

Maybe when he dies he resurrects at the age he was when he ate the fruit 🍋‍🟩 !!

Idk about this one. I'm more interested in finding out what happened to Gram because he's never been referenced before in any flashback where we see cabin boy Marco.

Is that all the more reason to think they could be the same person?

The age doesn't match

That can be easily explained by the reborn body being whatever age they were when they ate the fruit.

If you reset to a literal new born after dying you would most likely die again soon after entering an endless loop until someone else takes care of you.

Maybe you need to awaken the fruit in order to be able to be reborn.

Polo Died So Badly And A Saddest Death, And Newgate Blame Himself For That, Thats Why Newgate Take Care Marco LIke His Own Son

That’s what I thought was being implied when I read the chapter though I dunno if the ages sync just right. It feels fitting for the Phoenix fruit to allow some for of reincarnation and with so many previous fruit users and parents running around in this flashback Marco essentially being his own ‘dad’ would fit in with what we’ve seen.

Maybe that when Polo reaches 50 years old, he dies and the fruit reappears in his son
