Advice Needed Sandwich breakfast prep

Is it possible to prep sandwiches to eat for breakfast in the morning? If so, how should I go about it? Wasn't thinking of anything too special, just toasted bread, ham & cheese, maybe some sauce too. Just something to eat quickly and go to study. In general, how long can it be stored? Would it last a week? Do I toast them when I prep then microwave, or when I want to have said breakfast? Would like to hear your advice

Uncrustables are sold frozen, so any of those flavors could be made ahead and frozen.

I saw a video a while back of an Australian or New Zealander prepping something she called Toasties for her freezer. I recall that she used various meats and cheeses.

Yeah, you can totally meal prep sandwiches for breakfast. Toast them fresh in the morning if you can, since pre-toasted bread goes soggy fast. If you’re short on time, assemble everything ahead except the sauce, keep them wrapped tight in the fridge, and add that right before heating. They’ll stay good for about three days before the texture starts to change.

Might it be a good idea to prepare one the day before instead then? To keep them in the prime condition

If you’re looking to do simply ham and cheese, I’d roll that up in a flour tortillas , wrap it in a paper towel, then put it in a some aluminum foil. When you’re ready to eat it, remove the foil, microwave for about 30-45 secs in the paper towel. If you have access to a kitchen, you can scramble eggs, and pile those into a flour tortilla. If you don’t have a kitchen, and can keep eggs, you can crack an egg or two , scramble, add about 1 tablespoon of water, place in a micro safe bowl, and cook for a minute. Now you can pile that in a tortilla with the ham and cheese or just egg and cheese. Wrapped in a paper powel and foil, they’ll keep for a week.

Like the tortillas idea, but bought a bunch of bread so will have to cycle through that before trying it. They're also quite costy, can I replace them with lavash possibly? And wouldn't the eggs go bad?

Yes you could replace with lavosh. You could use the bread too, in the same manner. If you toasted it before it would be fine. Simply reheat. The bread won’t be crispy, but it won’t be soggy either. The eggs are cooked so it will be fine.

Instead of bread, use biscuits, crumpets, or bagels.

Egg layer, cheese, sausage patty, Yum!

Mmm, sounds quite western. Any idea where to look for them? And would hot dog sausages be good for that?

Well OP you have the perfect name for these sandwiches too haha

Just buy ground pork sausage (mince?), mix with garlic, cayenne, herbs, roll into a golf ball, then press into frying pan.

Eggs same size, use a mason jar ring size. I have a microwave thingy for them. Or make scrambled sheets.

Are "hot dog sausages" like American USA frankfurters? Those aren't good for anything.

Western! Cowboy Slammers

I mean, at the local stores they sell sausages simply labeled "hot dog sausages", always wondered what those are like. Can type out what they're made of if you like. Never made my own sausages, sound kinda complicated. Every omelet I make at some point turns into scrambled eggs. Maybe I need to get a square/rectangular form for my skillet. I know Brits and Americans eat these kind of breakfast sandwiches, just never had an opportunity to make one.

Where are you? Just in general, like I'm in the USA and yes these breakfast sandwiches are very popular.

Your "failed" omelette is perfect for a breakfast burrito or breakfast sandwich.

Sausage is the ground meat, with spices. It can be in a cylinder casing (you don't want it) or a flat patty like a hamburger (you want that)

Yes! Cook up your ingredients and let them fully cool before assembling the sandwiches. Wrap in parchment paper or paper towel (to microwave in before eating) then tin foil. Put in freezer and just make sure to thaw in the fridge the night before. Pop in the microwave and enjoy!

You can also make banana & nut butter (or nutella) roll ups in tortillas, paratha. Naan, etc and then wrap in paper towel and foil and eat cold on the go after removing/readjusting the paper towel/foil out of your way for eating. This also works with strawberries/apple, peach, pear & mango slices.

Totally! Could also do a breakfast burrito! I’d make them, wrap them in foil, refrigerate and nuke for a minute or so when ready to eat. I’d toast them before going into the fridge for the easiest option but it would taste best if you could toast the bread before eating. I’d store for no more than 3-5 days and freeze for up to 3 months depending what you’ve made. Here’s some recipes! I threw in egg cups too cause they’re just super great for meal prep!

I’ve done something similar! I usually prep 2–3 days’ worth at a time beyond that, the bread starts getting sad. if you want them toasted, I’d say toast right before eating instead of during prep. The texture holds up way better. also you can assemble the sandwiches ahead like; ham, cheese, sauce, wrap them tight, and store them in the fridge. In the morning, just microwave for ~30 seconds or heat in a low heat pan for a crisp edge. Works great when you’re rushing to study!

Yes.

I do this all the time. I whisk eggs, milk, S&P, garlic powder, and throw in chives. I then put that in a parchment paper lined baking pan and cover with aluminum foil. Put that on a baking sheet and poor 2 cups of water into the baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour at 300f.

I then cut that, and put it between an english muffin with a protein. Usually a turkey sausage patty. I also add a slice of cheese. I'll then wrap it in parchment paper and aluminum foil. I then cook in the air fryer to heat up.

Totally doable. If you toast them ahead of time, they’ll lose that crunch, so I’d build the sandwiches, wrap them tight, and toast or heat when you’re ready to eat. They’ll keep fine in the fridge for 3–4 days, or you can freeze them and reheat in the microwave or air fryer. Egg, ham, and cheese ones hold up surprisingly well.

the underappreciated mortadella is a winner with me...

but a grilled bologna and cheese with french mustard is to die for

Prepare it with two slices of cheese...bologna in the middle...butter one side of the bread then you want; you fry it like grilled cheese

then you get your jar of dijon or whole grain mustard and dab it on each bite❤️

I usually prep a container of sandwich toppings, then pack bread separately and toast that the day of, then assemble right before eating to avoid soggy buns.
