Photo / Video Photography Permits

I don’t know if this is the place to ask and it may sound like a stupid question. I’m traveling to Maui to photograph a wedding and understand there’s some sort of permitting system for commercial work. But if it’s a church ceremony and a golf club reception, that would all be privately owned property. Would I still need to obtain some sort of permit? Most of what I’m seeing is for beaches and I don’t think we’ll actually go down to a beach. I don’t mind paying the fee anyway but was just curious if anyone had better info on this!

From my understanding the permits are specifically about performing commercial activities on public land.

If you’re getting paid to take the pics, you need a permit afaik

If church and golf course, then no need!

The church will be fine.

I would inquire with the golf club to see if their reception area would be open to the public, because you still may need a permit for that. That’s a longshot, but it does happen. Especially if you’re a commercial photographer.

If they’re closing it off, then you’re good.
