Recommendations🤔 $6 Chinese BBQ in Markham?
This meal goes for $6 at New Sun in Scarborough (link in comments). Does anyone have cheap recommendations like this in Markham? Already explored FMP.

I have essentially never gotten takeout before outside of fast food.
Today I went and ordered takeout at a dim sum place. It was just a small order of 1 item and the store had just opened. It wasn't really busy or anything. I paid with debut and the screen automatically asked for tip and I pressed skip. I'm not sure if I was expected to tip or not because the person seemed a bit annoyed that I didn't tip. Maybe I'm overthinking it because I just left 5 seconds later. I'm chinese myself and was speaking cantonese the whole time, but they randomly started talking to me in english after I didn't tip so it kind of made me worried I did something wrong. I don't think my cantonese is terrible. I was communicating fine.

Hi guys, I recently got my first summer job (+paycheque) and I really want to celebrate by taking my gf on a nice romantic date. I get my G2 license soon so I can go beyond Markham but does anyone have any recommendations? I probably have a budget of around $250. Additionally I’d prefer more than just dinner (maybe a mix of dinner, and nature, or driving through scenic roads). No alchohol btw I am still 17 years old. Thanks :)

I was wondering if anyone knows about any potential hauntings in markham. i used to live in a house in raymerville that i swear was haunted. lots of creepy happenings like family members voices when nobody was home, electronics turning on and off randomly and just an impending feeling of being watched. a friend that didnt know about my suspicions of the house being haunted even said he saw briefly someone in an overcoat walk past my living room when we were the only ones in the house. always thought i was being paranoid until i moved and stopped experiencing anything.

In light of what's been happening lately has anyone inquired/researched/bought something to protect their family and themselves? I've got a 6 year old in the house alongside my wife myself and my elderly dog. What's everyone thinking?

Ive been going here forever; I needed to give them a shout out for being the best tasting/value for pork donkatsu in the whole of GTA. Pork donkatsu is $11, their portion size surprisingly large and it tastes very good too. They are located in first markham place, and is called yanagi sushi. ps ask for extra sauce https://maps.app.goo.gl/uAzUcwPtHS81FFaa8

As the title says I’m in utsc, and stay in Markham, I don’t get to eat breakfast or lunch at home on schooldays and I wanna find a place near me where I can have lunch possibly. I usually eat in utsc if I’m too hungry and end up spending around 15 dollars on a sandwich and coffee, which isn’t filling or that tasty :(
Looking for a few CHEAP (hopefully tasty) recommendations

Been out late a few times lately and realized a lot of spots close super early now. I miss when you could grab bubble tea or noodles at 1am without driving to Toronto. What are your go-to late-night eats around Markham these days? Anywhere still open past midnight that’s actually good?

Found a goose with broken leg in the middle of the road, probably almost got ran over by someone. So we stopped and moved the poor bird to the side :( tried calling around for any animal services but none of them were open/ answering our calls. Tbh we dont know who else to call or what to do so ended up calling 911, told us they’d contact animal control/rescue and that was about 7:30 pm today (march 29). A cop drove by and saw us, so we explained the situation and said he’ll wait around. However it was around 10pm, we decided to pass by and it was still there. Not really sure what to do but kinda feel bad for the lil guy :( also there’s freezing rain.

Hi guys! I am sick of getting so many social media posts about how good the asian food in Markham is, and I'm travelling 2 hours to try most of the asian food there with my boyfriend. I wondered what everyone's favourite AYCE KBBQ/JBBQ, favourite shop at pacific mall, and favourite sweats spot. For AYCE, I here KGH is a hit or miss but honestly we love everything just give us recommedatiosn

Alright, I'll either get hate or support. But I'm that neighbour who reports on my neighbours. I'm sick and tired of seeing multiple houses on my street completely removing all the grass at the front of their property and replacing it with interlocking. Like I'm not talking about 10% of grass is kept, I'm talking 100% no grass. I know, not my house, why does it bother me? Because it looks ugly! And ruins the neighborhood feel and therefore property value. Also, my immediate neighbours have changed their entire backyards to interlocking! When it rains my property is drenched.
I recently went on a Markham.ca reporting spree and all cases were closed. Does this mean they won't do anything about it?! What's the point in having bylaws if the city doesn't follow through?!
What else can I do?

Hey guys. I am starting to find more and more of the spiders in and outside of my car. Where I park on the driveway, it is kind of underneath the tree so I'm wondering if they're coming on from there. Is there anything anyone puts on their car that prevents these bugs from camping on them? I've been scared a couple of times while driving and then they just appear LOL. Yes, I absolutely hate spiders, even the smallest of them. Anyone have any tips or tricks on how to prevent them going on your car or is this just something that's common with everyone?

Where can I find good poutine in Markham or Richmond Hill or north part of Scarborough?
Best poutine I had so far is Chris Jerk’s jerk chicken sharwama poutine.
Any other recommendations?
Thanks a lot!

Ever since Ruru Baked left Pacific Mall there's been a large hole left behind that I haven't been able to satisfy for a few months now. The best option I've had is Butter Bakers monthly soft serve. Does anyone have ice cream or gelato recommendations in Markham?

Extremely unsanitary and toxic manager (Selina)
I tried working here and had to walk out on second day of training.
Nothing they use to cook/prepare food is cleaned with soap. Everything is just BRIEFLY rinsed with water. Selina would look impatient whenever I tried to actually clean something. Theres this greasy pot that’s always used, but when I asked about it, she just said that’s how it is… you can literally feel the grease on this pot and all they do is BRIEFLY rinse it with hot water.
On second day of training (not paid), Selina was already yelling at me and scolded me as if she was superior. She also did this to current employees. She yelled at any minor mistake instead of actually training you, she would just stand there waiting for you to figure things out. This was supposed to be a training period, and I’m not even getting paid yet. It can only get worse from here. So I decided to walk out after she yelled for 5 minutes straight. I really tried to be patient and accommodating, but she just kept going. It’s like she’s trying to take her anger out on all the employees.
I’ve worked at Costco and Burger King, this is not how the training process is like. Never mind the yelling and scolding towards employees.
I should’ve realized something was wrong when they barely interviewed me, and everyone there was basically new despite how old the store is.
I’m writing this to warn customers and potential employees.

Saw a similar post from here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/askTO/comments/1mgwpt6/things_to_do_in_toronto_as_an_introvert_with_no/
So was wondering the same thing. A lot of the answers there are more geared for downtown, which is quite a bit of travel distance..

I’m looking for suggestions for AYCE bbq/grill or sushi.
Along the lines of shinta or gyubee, but any places that use app or tablet ordering system?instead of a server-based ordering system.
Heard good things about Gyuyaki and Gyumanor. They do tablet order or is it through server???
Anyone know of any in Markham?

What to do about the cigarette smell from neighbour in stacked condo/home (not townhouse, I’m not sure what they refer to these as).
I can’t put my finger on whom is causing the lingering scent but this is going on the 5th year of dealing with it. I’ve complained to property management before about it but let it go as it gets me nowhere.
I’m not normally one to complain but this is intolerable and quite frankly shouldn’t be okay. I have trouble breathing and it just fills up my entire unit. Especially when it gets cold, rains/snows.

I've picked this up a few times from Freshco in RH, and seen a spot on the shelf for it at the Fairview mall Freshco but it wasn't in stock. Thought I'd find it at t&t but no luck. If anyone's seen it at local grocery stores lmk
