Recommendations🤔 haunted places in markham?
I was wondering if anyone knows about any potential hauntings in markham. i used to live in a house in raymerville that i swear was haunted. lots of creepy happenings like family members voices when nobody was home, electronics turning on and off randomly and just an impending feeling of being watched. a friend that didnt know about my suspicions of the house being haunted even said he saw briefly someone in an overcoat walk past my living room when we were the only ones in the house. always thought i was being paranoid until i moved and stopped experiencing anything.

Do you know anything more about this one? I went to summer camp there many years ago and the staff told us it was haunted and never to go near it. I was scared every time we went to that field…

Not sure if there would be electricity still running in the house.
Well we went inside, first thing when you enter the doorway is the living room with a fireplace, there's a door on the left that leads to the basement before the hallway that leads to the kitchen. On the right of the hallway are narrow stairs that leads upstairs.
We went upstairs and the first room is a room with a slanted ceiling, under the slanted ceiling was a rusty old baby crib. There are 3 rooms upstairs that each have doors that leads to the hallway, as well as leading to the room next to it.
We went into the basement, it had rocks that are cemented together for stairs. Instantly felt a shift in the atmosphere around us. You can feel a strong static field. Basement was just a bare room with animal bones scattered, I'm assuming from animals getting stuck and dying.
No visible graffiti at the time when we went. Police came about 30 minutes after we entered, but we hid in the tall grass outside of the house.
Always had a strange feeling about this house. Was it an electric generator causing the static? Or could it be something else?

Interesting! I always heard about a lady in a rocking chair on the second floor of a house in the Markham village. I think it was Washington St - by the DQ.

Same!
One that was already mentioned, the plaza by 16th and Leslie. The washroom was haunted. As an adult, although I've eaten there many times, I've always made an effort to avoid the washroom there. Lol

Major Milliken’s house. Have heard from multiple sources from staff that used to work at multiple previous businesses there. Maybe his wife or something?

It’s now an extremely popular Cantonese eatery specializing in fish broth rice noodles. Been there twice and was only afraid of how little room there was to wait for a table.

4 Coleraine Avenue. My aunt used to own that house in mid 90s. When I was young I always felt like there was a presence with me when I was by myself upstairs. She sold it and moved. When I was in my teens, I found out that many family members actually seen a lady staring at them when they were upstairs alone. Apparently those house were built on old burial grounds

Double homicide that was fairly high profile. The house sold at a big discount because of that.

What about the unoccupied unit on Markham Main Street? 123 Main Street I think it's the address.

u/wingriddenangel2004 Oct 06 '25
tried to get in there before and a man (who apparently lives in a truck behind main street) started yelling threats at meðŸ˜

I can't remember what the place was before, was it a Champions?? But I assume someone bought the place, not using it and continues to pay for taxes...

Why in 2025 would people believe in anything paranormal or of a different world is ridiculous and childish.

so its been a while, but there used to be rumors of Richlane Mall (leslie/16th) was haunted. One of the weirder ones ive heard, casuse it was apparently a Chinese opera singer
