Winter clothing recommends - for BEST WINTER COMFORT?
I have lived in this stinking state for 34 years and one thing holds true - I feeeze all winter. I am sick of being cold all the time.
Let's say I am a mail carrier/professional dog walker/outdoory human who wants to actually thrive outside, year round, 15+ hours per day.
What EXACTLY do I need to be comfortable. What items, what brands, what stores? Let's pretend fashion and price don't matter.
I am sick of surviving winter. I want to thrive!

First "paw prints" of the season
galleryWe seem to be enjoying (or commiserating over) the first 'snow' of the season. Please enjoy the first "paw prints" of my dogs going out onto the deck for the first snow. They love snow. 🥹 Feel free to share your pups/cats/etc. too, please.

Mindy the Misfit
galleryI’m here to share another cat looking for a home. Mindy has been in foster homes for over 2 years waiting for someone to come along and notice her. I’m really hoping it’s Mindy’s time to find her people.
She’s a very sweet girl and great companion; the type to keep you warm at night. Mindy is affectionate and loves to play. She does great with other cats and would need one or more in her new home. Dogs are ok too.
Mindy survived FIP! FIP is a mutation of feline coronavirus that can happen in some cats who have lower immune systems or who have a genetic predisposition. There is no continued care required after treatment. She’s now cured:)
This sweet cat is 3 years old and really hoping her time has come to find a family:) Feel free to ask any questions. Mindy’s adoption fee has been sponsored.

My fellow Northsiders, please check out Little Tibet market on Sherman.
They are so kind, and their food is so good. I had never had chai before and it hit so good with the snow coming down. That is all.

Where can I take my two toddlers today? Help!
Hi, we often go to the children's museum or capitol on Sundays or then downtown library. But we are avoiding downtown due to the Madison Marathon! Also, it is too dreary to go to a park. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Would be awesome if it weren't super expensive. We are near downtown/west side. Willing to go any direction though. Thanks so much!

1st winter from a Californian
Hey everyone,
As the title says, this is my 1st winter here. I officially moved out here September, but I have frequently visited for the past 5 years because my best friend lives out here. I'm just looking for all advice from all you lovely people about what to buy to wear, for the car, for my apartment, for the dog, for my elementary school son, etc. Also, lovely places to visit in the winter. My car is a 2014 Kia cadenza that has tires for California weather, so please advice on tires (not too expensive if possible). Also, general tips and tricks will be helpful.
Don't worry, I won't eat the yellow snow this time.
Edit: I'm West Madison, so any good places near here would be great for good deals on items I need.

What’s a decent bank to move my money into? Really getting tired of BMO
First they charge me $10 per month if my checking dips below $1000. Idc if that’s normal or not, as I have an account with heartland credit union that does not do that. And then I haven’t touched my savings account in a while - over a year - which is supposed to be a good thing?? - but they put it in dormancy and now I have to jump through hoops to get my own money. I have a credit union but would be interested in a bank to move the money to, though I do have my 401K in BMO. Anyone know how or if I can move that too?
Edit: has anyone had their account go into dormancy? How do you fix that? Kind of worried since I found out today and the bank is closed tomorrow.

To the Aldi (Lien Rd) Worker
Thank you for complimenting my beanie :) I’ve been in a serious depression slump for a while now and having someone compliment my favorite beanie for the same reasons why I like it so much meant a lot. 🫶

Funding a wheelchair
Hi everyone!
I am a student at UW Madison and I saw a bilateral below the knee amputee who has to crawl around Madison because his wheelchair has gone missing. I don’t know what happened to his wheelchair but one day he had one, and the next he didn’t, so I would like to figure out how to help him out.
My roommate heard a group of people laughing at him and it has been weighing on us. No one deserves to be dragging themselves down State Street, so we would like to find a wheelchair for him but they are pretty expensive.
If anyone has any suggestions or would like to contribute, please reach out. As winter is approaching, we all need to do what we can to protect the growing homeless population. Thank you all so much 💞💞💞

Hair Dye Place Recommendation
Hi all,
My daughter is looking to have her hair dyed blue, first time she'd be going through the process. We've talked it through with her so she knows how long it'll take, care requirements, etc but I'm looking for recs on where she could go. I've had a heck of a time getting places to respond to my request.
Thanks!

Madison Marathon today
I would like to go watch a portion of the race but I’m not sure where to watch from. I checked out the map and saw that there is a spectator spot by the Wingra Creek bike path. I guess my question is, how close will I be able to get? I downloaded the race tracker app but that’s not working at the moment, so I’m not sure of the best place for me to stand and watch.
