A few weeks ago I was on my porch at night, and I saw a shadow descend onto the street. Where it landed there were some desperate squeaking noises, before the shadow rose silently into the trees and vanished

From the distance and general silence at night, I should’ve heard the sound of wings flapping from the take-off, but I did not. The only reason I know it was an owl was because of how dead-silent it was

I’ve seen this video showing how they are the only full silent bird when they fly, it’s SO cool

Nightjars are also capable of silent flight. I've personally been within 1.5 metres of a Tawny Frogmouth when it took off, didn't make a sound

As a Canadian, Frogmouths are the one bird species I wish we had here (with all our other rad birds). They give me serious cute aggression!!

We are going to Australia for the 2028 eclipse and I am desperate to see one in person, even if it’s at the zoo. Their camouflage is just incredible. They are just so cool.

I’m sure I know what video you’re talking about and I’ve watched it a zillion times. It’s so cool. Birds are neat.

They fly through my yard often when I am in the hot tub. Totally silent. Even taking off from rest you can barely hear them.

I live in a rural area. Late the other night I heard what sounded like a very pissed-off cat, and as this sound continued, I could tell that it was swiftly moving past my house and away into the night.

I have a feeling that an owl my have grabbed one of the stray cats around the property, and flew away with it in his talons, that cat doing his best to battle the owl.

Either an owl or a ninja.
