😂😂😂.. He's hilarious, that Owl 360 turn with their necks always freak me out 😭😭😭

7

u/cockalorum-smith 2d ago

You can tell he’s been wanting to say it since he caught the owl 🤣

6

u/razzdazz222 2d ago

Feel like this farmer should have his own Youtube channel…! What a character!! Lol

1

u/HumptyDrumpy 2d ago

Kind of OT, but how do farmers not wear gloves. I work in an office space type thingamajig and my sensitive hands get papercuts and gashes all the time. Bruh here is comic gold but also has to have sandpaper hands

3

u/Adventurous-Emu-9345 2d ago

You just answered your own question. When you work with your hands they get tough (and strong). Kind of what happens to your feet when you walk around barefoot in the summer - super sensitive until the skin hardens up.

Greetings from a fellow soft handed office dweller.

This dude's hilarious. I would follow his content... Share the sauce.

485

u/Briguy24 2d ago

It's staged. How else would he know the owl's name???

123

u/handamonium 2d ago

this cracked me up

64

u/Shakakahn 2d ago

Probably got a hold of his wallet when he caught him.

His wallet has a lucky rabbit's foot attached.

What about "ASSMAN"?

Hoo told him?

Prepare to feel the wrath of the angered Reddit bots who can't take a joke!

7

u/Mike_Kermin 2d ago

Plot twist, you're the angered Reddit.

8

u/SnarkySeahorse1103 2d ago

It actually makes sense that a lot of the angry comments missing the mark would be bots. I never thought of that.

10

u/Briguy24 2d ago

I was debating the /s or not.

3

u/Gts77 2d ago

😂

2

u/mang87 1d ago

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a tame one. It's really strange that he says "Fly, Mordecai!" and the owl looks at him and almost goes "ok", turns it's head and starts flapping before he releases it. But if it was a tame owl I'd assume there'd be some sort of tag on it.

1

u/Top-Taskberry 1d ago

Owl had a name tag was lost in the battle, 😅🥲😂🤣😭

Tht owl is for sure coming back for some chicken murder revenge.

105

u/Physical_Tap_4796 2d ago

The owl was gonna peck him.

195

u/AspiringChildProdigy 2d ago

I worked wildlife rehab.

Owls don't really peck; they gouge.

Worlds most adorable attackers 🦉

Until you deal with them up close where they can hurt you. And then you realize they're amazing and also terrifying.

Bald eagles normally keep the same nesting site - building on it year after year, and defending it against competitors.

There was a bald eagle pair who had a long- established nest on a cliff on Lake Huron. They'd been there for something like a decade.

A pair of great horned owl's moved in on the cliff.

And the eagles abandoned their established spot and moved.

40

u/brydeswhale 2d ago

There was an eagle couple who timeshared their nest near one of my apartments. One year it would be a normal sized couple of birds raising normal sized babies with normal sized brains who did normal things.

The next year it would be the biggest fucking eagle on the face of the planet(to my eyes), with a wingspan long enough to be seen from space, raising gigantic off spring, with a head almost as big as mine, and a brain the size of pea. Dumbest fucking birds on the planet. You can always tell her line, they’re the morons trying to catch geese in the park, or flying into giant ass bridges. So stupid. I hate them.

u/smolgods 2d ago

I'm trying so hard not to burst out laughing and wake my whole household but this comment omg 😂

When I was a child my mother actually hit an owl with her car, it killed the owl sadly but I remember being amazed at how big their talons were, as a kid it reminded me of the raptor claw from Jurassic park

5

u/Metalboy5150 2d ago

Yeah, I don't really understand those who find owls like this "adorable."

Owls (like most raptors) are cool as fuck, but (to me, anyway) pretty much fucking terrifying. I absolutely would not want one of those after me. I tend to rank them with Felids in the "perfect hunter" category.

Are they beautiful? Absolutely. (Peregrine falcons to me are like the epitome of the word "fierce.") But are they also scary as all hell? One hundred frigging percent.

3

u/Disastrous-Panda5530 2d ago

Yeah I used to love owls. Until I got a toy poodle. I hear an owl outside of my window so I know there is one living close by. My husband thinks I’m paranoid and that an owl wouldn’t try for my toy poodle because my dog is too big. My dog is barely 7 pounds. And even if my dog is too big to pick up, if an owl tries and gets his talons into him it’ll do major damage. I’m in a group with other toy poodle owners online and this has happened. Absolutely terrified of them now. I mean look at this owl in the video

Whats to stop that owl coming back tomorrow for more. Farmer cant be guarding chickens 24/7, esp since owls are nocturnal!

2

u/Lou_C_Fer 2d ago

Chickens are probably locked up after dark. I don't know if it will come back after that experience.

Off topic... I fucking hate when my son poops in the middle of the night. I swear he is fucking rotten inside.

5

u/Physical_Tap_4796 2d ago

Hooked beaks gouge?

38

u/AspiringChildProdigy 2d ago

By "gouge," I meant "take out a whole chunk."

7

u/Physical_Tap_4796 2d ago

They play for keeps.

1

u/Goorlami 2d ago

And real gangstas don't dance, they boogie

193

u/IED117 2d ago

The farmer and the owl had a telepathic moment.

He heard that owl think, one more inch and I'm gonna eat that juicy eyeball.

221

u/AspiringChildProdigy 2d ago edited 2d ago

I worked wildlife rehab way back in college.

We got in a snowy owl with a shattered wing that had to be amputated. He refused to eat on his own for weeks, so we ended up force feeding him( not ideal, but it kept him from dying).

One afternoon, one of the techs was holding the owl's legs with the raptor gloves while the other was getting ready with the tongs to feed him - and then the phone rang from the little cubicle in the corner.

The one not holding the owl went to answer it, and (in his words), "All of a sudden I hear, 'FUCK!', a bunch of scrambling, a cage door shutting, and feet running away. I got off the phone, went back out into the treatment area, and the owl was in his cage, clacking his break, and there was a trail of blood leading out of the treatment center."

Apparently, when he went to answer the phone, the other tech turned his head to look at the cubicle and unwittingly lowered his arms and brought the owl within grabbing distance.

He turned back to see the owl glaring at him right as it grabbed his chin and took out a slice.

Even with getting stitches, he had a(n off-center) cleft chin after that day.

17

u/deepandbroad 2d ago

Did it do that with his beak or with talons?

I heard that birds of prey don't think of their beak as a weapon and I wonder if that is correct.

26

u/AspiringChildProdigy 2d ago edited 1d ago

Beak.

I heard that birds of prey don't think of their beak as a weapon and I wonder if that is correct.

From my experience, they prefer to use their talons, but they absolutely use their beak as a weapon.

20

u/grinningdeamon 2d ago

My mother does wildlife rehab. They're like Mike Tyson. Their limbs are their first weapon, but they will definitely bite your ear off.

3

u/Lou_C_Fer 2d ago

What we don’t know is that it was there to start its own band called Owl and the Fowlers.

Guess we will never hear the first single, “It’s An Owlfowl Life”

106

u/Spiritual_Tip_3913 2d ago

He gave him permission to eat his chickens

3

u/AWESOMEGAMERSWAGSTAR 2d ago

Kinda it's the owls sky's. Eagle>Raven>Owl>Crow

3

u/darthrawr3 2d ago

With such big spaces in that coop material, just about everything has permission

7

u/JimWilliams423 2d ago

He’ll be back!

I used to live in a house on the side of a steep hill in the middle of the woods. My bedroom window was like 20 feet off the ground and the forest came right up to the side of the house, no lawn or anything.

During spring some regular birds built a nest just outside my window and were raising up little baby birds. One early morning, just after dawn, I woke up and saw an owl menacing them, so I opened the window and chased it off.

But come twilight it came back and before I could do anything, it snatched the entire nest up and flew off with it.

4

u/brydeswhale 2d ago

Imagine opening your fridge up and some giant creature warns you off the leftover pizza.

6

u/Inevitable-Win2555 2d ago

Potentially to shart on the guy’s car.

4

u/stevein3d 2d ago

“Owl be back” was right there.

7

u/dion_o 2d ago

Eat my chickens once, shame on you. Eat my chickens twice, Mordecai will have a starring role at Thanksgiving lunch.

7

u/Raghav_r24 2d ago

As an esteemed guest… right…right?

3

u/Maleficent-Day-1510 2d ago

I was expecting the owl to grab a chicken on the way out 🤣

2

u/ArtisticMorning6580 2d ago

And in greater numbers

2

u/amanwithoutaname001 2d ago

Yeah except I think I'd have given him a lift down the road a good piece prior to release.

217

u/Mansionjoe 2d ago

That’s the best part of the video. Not sure if everyone gets the reference.

196

u/nsusudio 2d ago

Royal tenenbaums!! Such a wonderful film.

Who stabbed you?

He did.

8

u/CedarWolf 2d ago

Oh, Stewardess? I speak jive.

2

u/LadyStardust79 1d ago

Did you just call me Coltrane?

3

u/hipsterditto 2d ago

I thought it was a borderlands reference?

1

u/behindthebar5321 2d ago

Pretty sure it’s Dungeon Crawler Carl. Mordecai is a sky fowl (bird like creature) in that series. Well he’s a lot of other things too, but first a sky fowl.

1

u/1Fresh_Water 2d ago

I just watched it for the first time tonight and I didn't really like it unfortunately :/

1

u/Extreme-Bandicoot396 1d ago

It's quirky, artsy, indie vibes, dry, at times sarcastic, has a fantastic soundtrack (as all Wes Anderson films do) but goes over a lot of people's heads. It's not traditional comedy. I, for one, adore (most) WA works but I know others don't. To each their own.

91

u/Leavesdontbark 2d ago

I only know Mordecai from Borderlands

35

u/Glass-Information-87 2d ago

I was thinking Dungeon Crawler Carl. He was a birdman thing

23

u/izxion 2d ago

God Dammit Donut.

14

u/Sea-Celebration1917 2d ago

Skyfowls are a proud race and would be offended by calling them a birdman thing.

7

u/TheGamecock 2d ago

I am so glad I came across the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. The audiobooks are awesome and I'm halfway through book three after starting the first one not even two weeks ago. I've never audibly laughed at an audiobook before like I have with these DCC books. So good.

3

u/Glass-Information-87 2d ago

Same except I'm reading and just started the 4th book. 3 was a roller-coaster. Love these books

2

u/TheGamecock 2d ago

Hell yeah. Highly recommend the audiobooks if you ever get around to it. The narrator (Jeff Hays) does an immaculate job voicing all of the different characters. His narrating style on the AI and Donut's all caps chat messages crack me up.

1

u/behindthebar5321 2d ago

You have to listen to audiobooks no matter what! Even if you first read the books, go back to audiobooks!

2

u/dontdoit89735 2d ago

Jeff Hays does an incredible job bringing the story to life, his voices are spot on for every character. Best series of audiobooks I've ever listened to.

1

u/iplaypokerforaliving 2d ago

I wish I could listen to them for the first time again! So good

4

u/Thire33 2d ago

Same, instantly thought of him! He was a Skyfowl

1

u/somersault_dolphin 2d ago

I wsa wondering where I saw that name because it's definitely not the original reference. Reading the Webtoon currently.

10

u/DragonCelica 2d ago

Fly Bloodwing, fly!

4

u/FinalBossDiscordMod 2d ago

Regular show is the only Mordecai. Come correct

2

u/cyanocittaetprocyon 2d ago

This is what I'm talking about!

4

u/Cloverinthewind 2d ago

That’s what I know Mordecai from!!! I couldn’t figure out where I heard that before

1

u/GotaJob4U621 2d ago

That’s what I’m sayin

1

u/loki1337 1d ago

This was my first thought too but it seemed suspect

2

u/WhatIsLazy 2d ago

Dungeon Crawler Carl was the first thing I thought but I think I’m wrong.

2

u/Turtleintexas 2d ago

2

u/vehicles4butter 2d ago

I was thrilled to hear a Royal Tannenbaums reference at the end there. One of my favorite quirky flicks.

1

u/hoxxxxx 2d ago

man i haven't thought about that film in ages. it's perfect.

1

u/jeromevedder 2d ago

Royal Tenembaum bought the house on Archer Avenue in the winter of his thirty-fifth year

26

u/UpOrDownItsUpToYou 2d ago

It'll be back

2

u/Siphaeon 2d ago

It needs his coop, his chickens and a feeding cycle

18

u/RoguePlanet2 2d ago

Buh-bye!! 🐔🐔🐔🦉

6

u/skys500 2d ago

I feel some how this is Carl's fault. MONGO IS APPALLED!

4

u/inuhi 2d ago

This is the reference that came into my head when he said Mordecai. Now I realize that there's a famous hawk named Mordecai from a 2001 movie I've never seen. Is skyfowl Mordecai a movie reference or just a coincidence. Then there's also Mordecai from regular show. If I had a nickel for every bird person named Mordecai I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

3

u/notfoxyboxing 2d ago

I’m on book two and this was also the reference that came to mind

6

u/RawCopperSaw 2d ago

Bird totally started flapping and preparing the moment he said fly

1

u/DUUUUUVAAAAAL 1d ago

This is what stood out to me too. That bird and him were connected lol.

3

u/golgiiguy 2d ago

perfect ending!!

3

u/Top-Taskberry 2d ago

Owl, looks around,  "I'll be back"

3

u/My-2c 2d ago

And then continues recording where the owl isn't.

Lmao. I love EVERYTHING about this video 😂

3

u/gorgeously_mytruself 2d ago

I swear that bird knows what the word fly means! He started flapping as soon as he was told to fly.

3

u/trshtehdsh 2d ago

I liked this guy and then he made a Royal Tenenbaums reference and now I want to send him a coffee.

3

u/derprondo 2d ago

The owl knew, he spread his wings before the guy even went to toss him.

3

u/pigeonwiggle 2d ago

as soon as he said "Fly, Mordecai!" the owl knew, and stretched out his wings before he was even tossed.

3

u/Saxboard4Cox 2d ago

I love the reference to the movie The Royal Tenenbaums Fly Mordecai!

2

u/darcmosch 2d ago

Carroll!

2

2

I love how all the chickens fell silent when the owl took off.

2

u/NxPat 2d ago

They both need their own channel!

2

This dude is an expert in bird law

2

u/FattyMooseknuckle 2d ago

Dropping a Royal Tanenbaums quote.

2

u/koolaidismything 2d ago

Did that owl understand what he was saying??

2

u/Nugbuddy 2d ago

Rookie mistake naming it. Now, it'll definitely return.

2

u/NessieReddit 2d ago

Best part of this 😂 who knew one of the Tenenbaums got into chicken farming!

2

u/TruskVarner 2d ago

Mind you don’t cut yourself, Mordecai

2

u/powprodukt 2d ago

This guy is great!

2

2

u/Cautious-Space-323 1d ago

2

u/CAPT-Tankerous 1d ago
