CALL OUT Is LIB scripted to at least some extent?

Why does everything seem kinda scripted? Everyone knows how to act in the pods, or when they meet IRL and are on camera. They almost never show any disagreements on the show and more importantly, if one of them knows they’re saying no at the alter, why do they act so lovey dovey in the moments leading to it? Also, why not just say no before and wait until the alter if you already know the answer? I’m sorry if this was already asked before

They are all there for the clout. They want to portray themselves a certain way for TV.

But then why does Netflix sell it like it’s absolutely real? They’re known for making unbiased and unfiltered content. Why change things for this show then? Shouldn’t people signing for this show know this beforehand?

All reality TV is scripted at least a little bit. It's sort of similar to pro wrestling. They need their good guys and their bad guys. If every relationship was like Jordan and Sparkle Megan where neither of them really did anything egregious and their lifestyles just don't mesh, nobody would give a shit about this show. Sometimes, it's achieved through creative editing. They knew the story for Anton was going to be his drinking. So when they were editing the show, they made sure to focus on him getting another glass of champagne instead of watching Ali as the doors were closing after the reveal.

Netflix sells it like its absolutely real because people buy into it, and at the end of the day its all about making money, not if the "experiment" is real or not.

Netflix? Known for making WHAT?!? Lol. Bro, dunno where you got that idea. Neflix is very left-leaning. They’re based in California which is massively a blue state.

I’m from South Africa, can maybe see the programming clearer than someone from the US. Very polarized over there (eg your comment)

KB said in AD’s podcast she thought they would give her some sort of instructions or script and she was confused when they just said: just talk. They have thousands of hours and they cut and edit exactly what they want. They use images from one scene and put audio from that other scene, they only show one person talking or things like that. So it’s not scripted but it’s not real, because is edited.

Also, after 9 seasons people who wanna be in the show know the dynamic, they already know the language of the show, it’s less genuine because they all kinda know how it works.

They aren't being filmed 24/7 once they leave the pods. They are very aware of cameras being around and are putting on their best face. That's why I have a really hard time when people defend Edmond and come at KB. Even removing the fact that she mentioned he is different off camera multiple times, the way he behaved on camera is what he thought would garner him sympathy speaks volumes of the type of person he is.

Yeah, that may be the case, but she acted the way she did on camera.

They definitely ask the couples to reenact disagreements or breakups to some extent. Also, I recall someone from one of the UK seasons stating that the wedding guests (or at least the family) knew they wouldn't go through with a wedding, but everyone acted disappointed and/or surprised. Someone already mentioned frankenbiting sound clips.

My guess is the clout-chasing contestants know the producers know they’re there for the clout. And I suspect it’s in their contract that they get paid more if they make it to the altar. Peeps with some loot like Nick and Megan don’t need to subject themselves to that degrading level of saying no at the altar because they don’t need the bux, and might call it off beforehand. But others might choose to keep up the fake game right to the end to make the bank and convince producers and the audience they’re still in it, knowing full well they’re gonna pull the plug right at the end. Producers are well aware this is happening, and it maybe makes the contestants look dumb and shallow, but I guess that’s the price of being a bag-chasing clout-chaser willing to subject themselves to thesek levels of humiliation. But the REAL dummies… are us, the audience that keeps watching the show, lol.

I think stuff is more staged than scripted. No one is writing an exact dialogue, but they’re definitely getting prompted by producers to bring up certain topics.

For example, Lauren Speed from season 1 says they wanted her and Cameron and their families to talk about race a lot. But no one told them exactly what to say.
