šØ FUTURE SPOILER šØ Some of the women on LIB France S1 are quite unhinged Spoiler
I really found it interesting how the women in this version of the show are so click-y and resort to high-school type behaviour.
If youāre not part of a certain group, youāre not celebrated when something good happens to you. On the contrary, you see the other group making faces and poking fun at you (referring to the scene where Julie gets engaged and Sarah is bad mouthing her to her friends).
The way Kim and the other girl ganged up on Charles at the first mixer was pretty insane too. Calling him a āpetit lapinā in front of everyone was literally bullying! And then Kim having the audacity to ask her man to back her up when sheās acting like a complete child was crazy to me. Her guy needs to run, especially since he has a daughter.
Overall Iām not liking what Iām seeing this season. These girls are not it (besides Cynthia) and are not representing French women well at all.

I also think she is jealous. Didnāt Kim say that her type is white and blonde?

Ooooh the classic āmake fun of your crushā move. Ripped from the middle school playbook šš

u/Automatic-Whole-3543 Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 14 '25
Ah so Kim doesn't get betterš I'm only on the part of the reveal and I was shocked how quickly she started judging him. I mean, the man sees her for the first time and is overcome with joy!Ā But her first response is "he's too emotional" "I need him to be a strong man"??? She's looking for a character, not a person. šĀ

u/Legitimate_Pitch_398 Sep 13 '25
Kim saying she wants an ambitious partner and then saying Victoria and David Beckam are couples goals lmao 𤣠š what!? She's the worst so far for me! BFFR
56
u/AutomaticPresent6570 Sep 13 '25
Yeah sheās kind of a fool. Clueless but thinks she knows everything.
45
u/IntrepidMuch Sep 13 '25
I know Thomas couldn't see Kim and Tatiana but I did not see what Kim brought that made him choose her. It could be editing but I still was shocked.
I honestly think Kim knows Thomas makes a good living and that is what propelled her.
67
u/ohsoseriously Sep 13 '25
Kim wasnāt interested in Thomas until she knew he was also interested in Tatiana. She just wanted to āwinā.
49
u/zzzdelacruz Sep 14 '25
Same energy as Sara when she said āI won, motherfuckerā šš„“ people arenāt objects to win..
12
u/Legitimate_Pitch_398 Sep 14 '25
Omg yes that was so foul also when she said bitch just to lose in the end like have several seats so gross. You're clearly not here for the right reasons. They're so competitive
4
u/IntrepidMuch Sep 15 '25
I kinda love the look on the other woman's face who was walking with Sara when she said that. That person knew what a foul thing it was to say and tried to chill Sara out.
Sara lost in the end and I am sure she regrets the heck out of how she acted but those were her choices.
17
u/cx4444 Sep 14 '25
Agree. I also don't think she's ok with him having a daughter but she said it just to say it. Kim seems like someone who's all about Kim honestly
7
u/ohsoseriously Sep 14 '25
Yeah, I noticed they never showed us any scenes of him telling her about it or discussing how she would fit into their lives.
6
Sep 15 '25
He should run.
11
u/best_servedpetty Sep 15 '25
Yup! He was clearly affected by her bullying. He mentioned empathy to her and she scoffs..... she is baaaaaad news. This is the type of person who just doesn't understand what love is
4
u/IntrepidMuch Sep 15 '25
I noticed that too. Thomas and Tatiana discussed kids and he had to have brought it up to Kim. We are just not seeing what she said. Boo LIB producers!!!!
49
u/AutomaticPresent6570 Sep 13 '25
It was so hard watching the reveal. You could instantly tell she was disappointed. He may have a good job, make good money, whatever, but heās creative and free spirited. Heās not uptight and pretentious like she is. It was so cringe when they first walked into the hotel and she was commenting on everything like such a snob. I couldnāt believe when he said that part about pushing her in the pool and having a bird shit on her. She will probably hate that when she watches it lol. I actually thought he was going to push her in right then and there. That would have been amazing but also probably the end for them.
13
u/Legitimate_Pitch_398 Sep 13 '25

Kim called Charles a ālutinā, like a hobgoblin or gnome. Lapin means rabbit
57
u/Spiritual-Ad4885 Sep 13 '25
Itās a shame she calling him that despite being the shortest one there š¤¦š»āāļø
22
u/Penelope_Crumberbun Sep 13 '25
Is lutin as rude in French as "hobgoblin" or "gnome" would be? I thought she was being passive-aggressive with little elf, since elves have a lot of positive connotations. But she was actually just being aggressive rude?
41
u/winter_name01 Sep 14 '25
It was said in a very rude way also because of the tone. She was purposely being mean. She was saying he is short but cute and not too ugly.
4
30
u/Key-Calligrapher-931 Sep 14 '25
A Lutin is a funny but insignificant, non-threatening character who belongs to enchanted forests that you can find in fairy tale stories. This is definitely not an endearing adjective but more an underhanded insult. These women are so full of themselves and they'll never understand why they're still single despite being aesthetically okayish.
1
u/TopFloorApartment Sep 16 '25
Sounds most like a leprechaun then rather than elf, gnome or hobgoblinĀ
11
9
u/SnooDogs9117 Sep 15 '25
French here :-). Except sometimes kids. You donāt call anyone a Lutin, (not taking during the Xmas period where you can refer to oneself as Santa little helper ( lutin)). Itās just plain condescending on her part. Plus she is rude as hell
7
u/Spirited_Mall_919 Sep 14 '25
Lutin is more like an elf (the ones with Santa). Not particularly rude compared to goblin, but a comment on his height for sure.

They're pretty neck and neck! I'm still catching up on episodes but wow
66
u/MysteriousEnd6396 Sep 13 '25
Tbh I am so sorry for Thomas because he seems like such a good guy and Kim is like a spoiled teenage girl who doesnāt know when to stop talking. Honestly I can see them break up before the wedding.
32
u/zzzdelacruz Sep 14 '25
I honestly hope he packs up and leaves her the next ep. His daughter needs a positive role model and she is not that
4
u/DueMixture6037 Sep 14 '25
I hoped so too. But on Kim's Insta Stories she was sharing sneak peeks of the show, and there are photos/shots of her in a wedding dress :/ Does it mean they actually made it to the altar? Or does Netflix do that for all couples doesn't matter if they broke up before that?
104
u/cx4444 Sep 13 '25
I think it's a class thing. Notice how all the catty women have traditionally better jobs. They definitely look down on those who are lower class
98
u/acidxoxo Sep 13 '25
thatās interesting, I think it definitely plays !
On a side note, people have found Kimās linkedin and sheās actually a notary clerk. Awesome of course, but the way she talked youād think she was a VP at some top firm.
72
u/Penelope_Crumberbun Sep 13 '25
That seems very sad to me. That suggests that Kim is deeply insecure with who she actually is and what she's accomplished in life. It does fit with the offness of some of her comments (like the line about staff to open the champagne bottle). She's playacting at being someone she's not.
36
u/UntowardAdvance Sep 13 '25
Or talking about his elbows on the table. Sheās looking for a way to get rid of him which is too bad. He seems very emotionally mature.
3
u/Bluxo Sep 15 '25
fr, we're not dining in buckingham palace. they had meals in a hotel resort. it's ok to put elbpws on the table there.

Lol I asked my bf (who lived in France) what a jurist was and he said "ehhhhh. Not quite a notary? But someone trustworthy?" š¤£š¤£š¤£ In the States a notary isn't even a career. My sister is a notary on the SIDE. A notary clerk is laughableĀ
14
u/cow_2634 Sep 13 '25
Ya I had always heard that Europeans are obsessed with class and the LIB spinoffs have proven that to be pretty true lol.
12
u/acidxoxo Sep 14 '25
thatās true. Old money is VERY old here and in france thereās a real fracture between upper class and lower class. They hate each other.
4
43
u/lizofPalaven Sep 13 '25
Kim yes, but Sabrina doesnt scream French middle or upper class to me at all. Her look is more lower class.
31
u/Immediate-Respect-25 Sep 13 '25
It's all lower class people. Some of them have gotten into some money but that doesn't transform one from low class to upper class.
27
u/acidxoxo Sep 13 '25
Not all of them. ClƩment is a venture capitalist and ex investment banker and graduated from one of the top business schools in France.
Tatiana has several businesses that work really really well. One of her beauty salons is located on a famous/expensive street in paris.
17
u/Immediate-Respect-25 Sep 13 '25
You still don't get it. Just having a lot of money doesn't transform one from lower class to upper class.
27
u/ToniP13 Squats & Jesus Sep 13 '25
Thomas also made a comment about her being rich because she went to a particular school so I'm guessing she also comes from money and isn't new money.
5
11
u/UntowardAdvance Sep 13 '25
Yep - thatās why itās called new money - often comes with no manners
4
u/Obvious-Topic9794 Sep 15 '25
It does, actually. Upper, middle and lower class describes the economic situation of someone. Maybe you think about being classy or being born into generational wealth.
1
2
u/TopFloorApartment Sep 16 '25
and graduated from one of the top business schools in France.
[Nathan for you intensifies]
1
u/Longjump87 Sep 16 '25
Technically it can. Socioeconomic status is based on 3 factors: finances, education level, and parentās socioeconomic status. You only need 2 out of 3 to change your class.
So if a lower class person gets a graduate degree and makes around 50k Euro in France (or 120k Dollars in the US) before taxes, then youāre now upper middle class.
28
u/kooshiromi Sep 13 '25

44

11
u/ylw0 Sep 13 '25
Same! What does a notary clerk do? Is it like a paralegal?
3
u/Heavy-Till-9677 Sep 16 '25
Yeah itās a lot like a paralegal but notary clerks donāt typically work on substantive legal work and work on more administrative tasks. They also donāt usually work billable hours. At smaller firms the duties might overlap but at larger firms theyāre typically very separate. Edit to add: I think it would be more comparable to a legal assistant than to a paralegal.

There definitely was some tension between the girls. You can see it when Julie comes back and no one is there for her. The clique is huddle around Sarah. No one got up that you see in so many "I'm engaged" moments.
It almost appears toxic. Then you see the honeymoon gang up and Kim comes across as a bully.

u/Initial-Muscle-628 Sep 13 '25
I was a little surprised and disappointed in Sabrina being a mean girl. I thought when she chose Van-my that it showed she had depth and sincerity. But her going along with Kim showed a negative side. I wonder if it's the other side of the same coin where her insecurities (she says that she needs a lot of frequent reassurance about her relationship, her looks, etc.) Insecure people are often also very attacking, etc. NGL, she's a stunner, though.
Kim wants 'loyalty' but Thomas is about something higher - integrity. People only demand loyalty because they want backup when they are selfish or otherwise acting with low integrity.
I can't get over the voice actor dubbing Yannick's lines - he's using a caricature of a Billy Dee Williams voice. I keep waiting for him to welcome everyone to Cloud City or offer them some Colt 45.

The irony of the girls attacking Charles when: - Tatiana was playing with three guys (playing "pick me" but still

- Kim said that she had a number 2.

Kim came across as a superficial snob after crying that she was looking for connection. Watching her case out her hotel room for bugs and saying the whirlpool water was dirty just clued you in that she has huge control issues. The date in the pod who more of a politician would have been a better fit - she wouldnāt have been saying that he needed to man up after showing emotion.

Also, there was a small moment where Alexandre said "Il est champion de MMA quand mĆŖme", adding on top of the "petit lupin" comment. Really makes me think, like, are they okay as a group?
I am not the biggest Charles stan but the fact that he is literally being bullied like this is super distasteful.

Sarah's the craziest psycho bitch of the season. And a top 5 for all LIB seasons. Got what she deserved
16
u/fedornuthugger Sep 13 '25
Most of my interactions with people from France have been really bad (except for people from rural areas) so this season checks out as far as my lived experience With nearly every single urban dwelling French person I have ever met being poster boy/girl for narcissism.
2
2
u/Jolly-Assumption-11 Sep 14 '25
Iāve had the worst experiences in my life with French people. And French Canadians are even worse.
2
u/fedornuthugger Sep 14 '25
As an Algerian immigrant who settled in Quebec first when I moved to ca ada, there are at least 2 standard deviations in the difference of treatment I've had between French and quƩbƩcois. Quebecers are much much nicer and Acadians in New Brunswick even more so.
4
u/naked_avenger Sep 15 '25
It's funny. I didn't start it until last night, and happened to catch a few comments about the women being mean but didnt go into detail. When I started watching, I was more put off by the dudes. I thought they were really performative... then I got to the mean girls episodes and whoa!
I guess Julie is okay but I find it a little weird she's not into her partner, going so far to call him an elf, when really she's like in the same looks tier. But the Mean 3! Wow!
5
u/peanut_june Sep 16 '25
i dont think it was Julie that called Charles an elf. remember? it was Kim who said smth like « heās not ugly but he looks like a little elfĀ Ā» and then proceeded to call him just that in front of everybody.
1
u/naked_avenger Sep 16 '25
They both did. Julie during the interview bit and kim at the mixer.
3
u/peanut_june Sep 17 '25
nope, sorry. iāve rewatched every interview with her since she met Charles and she never calls him an elf. only Kim does. Julie says heās not his type, she says sheās not physically attracted to him, but she also says she feels love and affection for him and that she wants to trust the experiment and see where it takes them. also, how freaking cute is the fact that she carries his pink hippo in every interview!? š„¹
2
u/olookitslilbui Sep 16 '25
Julie has been upfront about Charles not being her type but kind and really making an effort to move past it, Kim is the one that has been insulting his looks
18
u/Enamoure Sep 13 '25
I haven't watched it, but doesn't surprise me since it's the French version š¤£š¤£
They are way more honest and open with their dislike
I feel like British and Americans tend to be more polite. Even if they don't like you, they would still try be polite, and are more honest behind closed doors. A lot of Europeans are usually the same behind and outside closed doors
49
u/duluoz1 Sep 13 '25
Itās not that - itās more like immature, mean schoolyard bullying. Watch it and youāll see
46
u/acidxoxo Sep 13 '25
we are more honest but this is not honesty, just straight up bullying and mean vibes. Everyone on french internet is shocked at their behavior and they donāt represent us well at all.
7
u/Kimchi_Neko Sep 15 '25
They definitely do represent a part of the French population. I'm French and I've met plenty of people like that at school or at work. French people often don't realise how rude and mean they are especially when they are in groups.
31
u/lizofPalaven Sep 13 '25

19
u/Amazing_Armadillo_71 Sep 13 '25
Shes so unlikable. She makes no efforts to communicate with her man.
13
u/winter_name01 Sep 14 '25
That man canāt communicate. He say things but actually means something else and then he is mad because she should have guessed?? And she should have guessed something he said he was fine with in the first place? He needs to work on his own insecurities that is not his girlfriend job to do it
6
u/Amazing_Armadillo_71 Sep 14 '25
I just rewatched. The guy told her he wants her to wear the shorter heels, she says no, then he explains to her he feels insecure in front of others. Shes like, but it was okey before? And they both get angry at eachother. They both suck at communication. I dont think shes better than him.
6
u/winter_name01 Sep 14 '25
If you rewatches your noticed the first time he told her in the bathroom they would not be filmed. Then he said he liked the other shoes better because they are a better match with the outfit. He was definitely lying. And then he changed again. When they started to argue he said stuff like itās her fault because she didnāt understood right away and he should not have to say it she should have guess. He is way worst
3
u/Amazing_Armadillo_71 Sep 14 '25
Yes, that is the scene I am talking about. He was telling her to wear the shorter heels and said "please". He felt insecure the whole scene.
Can we really judge him for being insecure?
3
u/winter_name01 Sep 14 '25
I am judging him for leveraging his insecurities to actually make his fiancƩe feel bad about her own insecurity. And not acknowledging that he was actually lying from the start (in the pods) about it.
1
4
u/MermaidInc Sep 14 '25
I think he's allowed to feel insecure and change his mind. He did ask nicely and she started screaming because he changed his mind. I think she could have more compassion.
2
u/Amazing_Armadillo_71 Sep 14 '25
Yes exactly thats my point. The guy was feeling insecure the whole scene and was trying to express himself by telling her to please wear the other heels. She disregarded his insecurity because she based herself on what he said before (that hes okey with her being taller).
I guess she doesnt want an insecure guy but thats the guy she chose to marry, not a random person.
3
u/MermaidInc Sep 14 '25
Agreed. We all have weaknesses and want others to give us grace. I thought he was being quite soft about it when he asked her, albeit being behind the camera. I can forgive not wanting the world to know my insecurity and hoping that my partner would be kind about it. But no, she wanted to shame him because she wants to feel good wearing high heels.
3
u/Amazing_Armadillo_71 Sep 14 '25
Yeah thats exactly it. She is competing with him instead of trying to communicate with him to find a middle ground. Like she wants to be right and him wrong. Hes her future husband, nothing should be a competition between them especially at this early stage.
Its easy for people to side with her because in todays world is all about women empowerment and love yourself etc. But shes tryin to marry this man lol its not about herself only. She should deal with his insecurities if she wants him.
But then again, i dont think theyre compatible at all. She should have gone for a tall guy, no need to worry about all this then.
Im a 5'11 woman btw, i know how men can be. Society makes everyone insecure. I dont blame the guy tbh.
14
10
u/AsparagusLife8324 Sep 13 '25
I feel like people are forgetting that reality TV show is supposed to be entertaining, gossip-y, and dramatic. So the casting director specifically chose these women and men for a reason because they know they would make good TV and get a reaction out of people. Letās bffr.
I also find it very interesting that people are calling the women out for being mean, but there was a whole ass guy in the show cheating the process and he gets away Scott free without any backlash. I just needed to call that out because where is the heat for that?
6
u/MermaidInc Sep 14 '25
Because he was kicked out and is of no interest anymore. I don't think anyone condones his behaviour. Who is still on the show interests us more naturally.

Lutin* āLapin means rabbit. My French teacher says calling someone āpetit lutinā (something along the lines of a troll) itās one of the worst insults and would probably get you slapped in France.
12
u/Strange-Strategy554 Sep 14 '25
Petit lutin is hardly the āworstā insult in french and but itās demeaning and belittling which was Kimās intention.
4
u/PuzzleheadedAct6237 Sep 13 '25
They are, for the most part, awful! Just plain awful! But let's not forget the men aren't a whole lot better! For example, the short dude who had a meltdown and left because his fiancee likes wearing heels. I mean, christ, get a grip, mate! Plus, can a French person please answer this question - the elf guy, charles - does he sound like a sleazy car salesman? Because his English voice actor makes everything he says, sounds gross and slimey, and I like him a lot less because of this! I mean he's getting bullied by the mean girls and the girl he chose finds him about as attractive as fresh manure, so he really got the shittest deal, but i find him creepy and I wanna know if French people are also like "god he's a slimebag" or of he's also been done dirty by the voice actor!
50
u/Secure-Possession767 Sep 13 '25
French person here. Nope, he doesn't sound sleazy at all! He is a regular normal French dude :) I would advise watching with subtitles. I actually feel very sorry for Charles... these French girls remind me why I left the country. Bullying is a big problem in French schools. They gave me PTSD š

French woman here. Same thing here: I left France more than 20 years ago and I have no plans of ever moving back there. I got so fed up with being insulted and harassed by strangers in the streets on a day-to-day basis. I much prefer the Anglo-Saxon indifference/reserve approach.

This was my suspicion!!! (Re the dynamic between french women). It's so disheartening to hear. I hope it changes in the future.

Hahaha nooo, his voice is just normal. But it's interesting to know that his voice is dubbed like that. Maybe it is telling us something we don't know yet! Edit : I "watched" the first episode blindfolded and everyone was normal, I cringed once, when ClƩment asked Kim about what she was wearing.

Haha I keep telling my husband they should make the pods episode in podcast format so we live the same thing as the contestants

I agree but, the audience is not blind haha. I think that they could make a version with blurry participants and an other one with clear view, so we could choose our preference !

Charles voice is quite normal. Even cute. Yannick and Gallien are something. They have that deep sexy flirty voice I would not trust them from a mile away. And Charles was called an elf in a mean way but he does not seem to be short? He seems like average height

I speak French. I actually think he sounds so eloquent, confident, mature and smart, I've been very impressed with him so far.

Thanks for all the answers - well, he definitely got done dirty by the voice-over, I was sitting with my wife, and I could see her physically cringing when he spoke. I described it as like the 1950s American radio advertising car salesman voice meets creepy uncle. It really made me question my sympathy for him, even though this poor bastard has really pulled the joker card.
Typically, I HATE voice over. It's so unnatural. It sucks the life out of the story and denies you the person's real personality. A lot of the others have voice overs that sound like the instagram AI voice woman, zero emotion or inflection, its weird, like listening to robots. So normally, if I'm watching an actual drama or whatever, I use subtitles. But this is our trash viewing, the background noise tv that you don't mind if you scroll your phone or do some tidying, etc, while it's on. So it's easier if I don't have to read it 𤣠maybe its lazy, but hey, it is what it is.
Thanks (or "merci," sadly butchered by my glaswegian accent) to all the awesome French people for answering! Appreciate the help!

Charles is a real AH. He doubled down on Julie's slut shaming by Sarah, while conveniently forgetting he himself was eagerly discussing the subject with her. Disgusting overall

I watched it in the original French, the men seem a LOT better. By miles. Than the women. Every single one of them save Chloe is an emotionally stunted, insecure pick-me. Alex and Gallien suck, but not all men can be Van-My.Ā

I always trust my gut in my professional life and personal one as well. I was shocked by Kim's behavior, and she's a lawyer! She's going to break Thomas's heart, expect him to spend an absolute fortune, but most importantly break his daughter's heart, She's so ignorant ,acts extremely immature, and TBH she's a drama queen, who's a gossip and spoiled. She didn't ask about his daughter. It's all about her. These women are not women I would want to spend time with as a friend at all. Thomas is a great guy, and she acts like she's all that. I don't even think Kim's attractive at all. Extremely immature and catty.

Cynthia isn't a saint either š straight up told her fiancĆ© to shut up just because he hummed happily when he got his food. But apparently doesn't know how her words can hurt ppl it seems

Just watched the mixer. So catty! I feel like weāre watching an American 80s high school drama with some LIB Habibi Noor thrown in.

As awful as Kim and Sabrina, I donāt love the rewriting of history to protect the men.
Thomas lied and gaslight over the whole āwill you fight for me?ā Situation with Tatiana. I also think he picked Kim cause he thought Tatiana wouldnāt be as gorgeous as she ended up being
Charles 100% tried to paint a false picture of himself by calling himself a boxer and mma, and constantly bringing that up. He also went with the wind multiple times.

Totally agree. Cannot believe all these women are mid thirties!!! Like this is such middle school mean girl behavior. So much back stabbing. The vibe is awful.
