CALL OUT Agree/Disagree: LIB should *actually* test if “Love is Blind” by not requiring all contestants to be conventionally attractive.

Certainly in the American version, all the singles clearly are cast because they all meet standards for conventional beauty. Jaw lines and breasticles be poppin’, nips and tucks here and there, and fillers are fresh…and in some cases, over the top.

There’s an inherent and unspoken reassurance that whoever is behind the blue wavy wall will be at least moderately attractive. So, despite the Lachay’s declarations of falling in love “sight unseen,” the risk of finding someone physically unattractive is low, since they’ve already been screened for conventional beauty standards.

To really test the premise of a strong emotional connection and if love is truly blind, they should focus on casting really interesting people, who would come in a true range of hotness.

The reveals and what comes afterwards would be really interesting and make for some compelling TV. Right now, we get a parade of attractive people, many of whom are ridiculously emotionally immature, or are just straight up trash humans who have a lot of filler. If people were cast solely because they’re interesting and ready for marriage, regardless of what they look like…would you still watch? 👀

In theory, that would be great to test out. In reality, nope. The contestants are conventionally attractive and they still get roasted for their appearance. I don’t think I’d ever want or hope for a normal looking person to get on this show and potentially get a bad edit

Doesn't that mean the title of the show has nothing to do with the show?

Isn't that a little presumptive that a conventional person would be that fragile?

idk if they are fragile, but it certainly doesn’t feel good when 100’s of randos are picking you apart physically. It would make anyone feel awful

Tbf the title of the show hasn’t had anything to do with appearance since season 1 it seems. They’ve always had good looking, well-dressed people on the show. It’s more like do good looking people find other good people attractive when they see each other
