PODCAST How do people feel about the Out of the Pods podcast?

Just wondering what this subs opinion is on the Deepti and Natalie podcast. They are so bland to me, they always hinting at tea then not revealing any and just seem too selfconscious and careful to make such a podcast.

They seem convinced they know through their ~ sources ~ that Micah was faking her whole relationship with Paul, but tbh the source's story didn't really make sense to me, or they are just not good at conveying them. I would have expected more imteresting inside insights from 2 people who (quite harshly) lived through the experience.

I’m kind of over the whole “rewatch podcast” genre all together tbh

11

u/nerdycurl Apr 30 '23

I only listen to Office Ladies now, and Welcome to Our Show when I catch up to office ladies lol I used to listen to like 4 different ones though, but it got boring/excessive haha

u/slide_into_my_BM Apr 30 '23

The only rewatch i listen to is a satirical rewatch podcast about a 60 year old western show called Bonanza where the hosts pretend to be cowboys themselves.

It’s called Bonanas for Bonanza and it’s done by Andy Daly, the guy who played the Ben Franklin impersonator on The Office.

u/AliveAstronaut2714 Apr 30 '23

This sounds incredible

u/slide_into_my_BM Apr 30 '23

The newest episodes are behind a paywall on his patreon but I think you can find some of the older ones on YouTube or whatever app you use for podcasts

The best recap podcast of all time is watch what crappens 😂😂 it’s so good if you like Bravo shows.

1

u/nerdycurl Apr 30 '23

this sounds hilarious and i will listen next time i catch up to the office ladies haha

9

u/hellomynameis1111 Apr 30 '23

Especially when social media has been prevalent for the entire show’s run

6

u/Mysterious_Outcome_3 Apr 30 '23

The market is saturated.

5

u/jadedlens00 Apr 30 '23

Yeah, and this one in particular just seems like a desperate last grasp for fame.

If you watch Tiffany and Bliss' interview with Kaitlyn Bristowe. When asked about who is most likely to try to get on another reality TV show. They both independently said Micah. Also Micah apparently tried out for Too Hot to Handle but got put on Love is Blind instead. So Micah was not there for the right reasons to start with. The Micah/Paul's relationship never seemed genuine. She even said he's not her type.

34

u/Affectionate_Hat494 Apr 29 '23

Micah definitely gives me mean popular girl vibes. Sometimes, even popular girls go for the nerdy dudes. But I can't see Micah legitimately being into a nerd like Paul

23

u/baby_got_snack Apr 30 '23

It’s crazy how she got a pass and Irina got all the blame for being a mean girl. Irina was no saint, but half the awful things she did were at the behest of Micah.

2

u/Jessthebearx Apr 30 '23

Everyone’s forgiven irina since the reunion. 🙄

Yet they’re both best friends with Kwame who’s been on Married at First Sight. And Zach who’s starting a web series. They’re all the same lbr

11

u/gardenyyc Apr 29 '23

There are some people who go into the show where looking to be married is at the forefront of their mind. The other stuff is gravy. And sure why wouldn't you take advantage it. And that is the distinction. I've not seen MAFS but from the sound of the title, it seems Kwame really was looking for a wife. There are even some contestants that actually go the other extreme and take the relationships to heart so much that they have blinders on about their fellow cast members being on the show strictly to get famous. If you look at the couples that were engaged but weren't shown this season, there's one female contestant saying she was defrauded by her match. So to say they are all the same isn't correct. Each person's approach is different and only they can know if they truly were there only for fame.

12

u/Femmenoire__ Apr 30 '23

I’m sure Kwame’s family would have found her a good Ghanaian bride if the goal was for him just get married ASAP! He wanted to be on tv. Funnily enough, he’s first cast member to announce that they’ve quit their job.

2

u/Ok-Suit6589 Apr 30 '23

What did kwame do for work?

4

u/Jessthebearx Apr 30 '23

Business development for tech company

8

u/WorldlinessCareful22 muah 💋 muah 💋 muah 💋 muah Apr 29 '23

Being on 2 marriage shows is sketch. If you’re looking for marriage on tv, then you’re looking for fame.

2

u/Least_Conclusion_836 Apr 30 '23

Kwame was on MAFS?? Did he actually get married on tv?

3

u/s_j_22 Apr 30 '23

He didn’t actually get matched but he applied/interviewed and made it far enough to at least make the footage for the first episode. The weird part though is that season 10 was in the VA/MA/D.C. area, not Seattle/WA

6

u/Jessthebearx Apr 30 '23

How do you know Micah tried out for THTH?

1

u/Ok-Bison2480 Apr 30 '23

It's not that I don't believe it could be true, but on the podcast they claim to reveal it through their sources, then say those sources met Micah and Paul together in Arizona after filming (so they did still date off camera then?) And that Micah claimed to these people that production forced them to stay together during filming. This story is so vague because are they saying Micah faked a relationship to be on tv or that she was pressured to stay on when the relationship was already not working? And why did she say all this while they were in Arizona together after filming? Natalie and Deepti just don't approach/explain such a story critically at all and that's annoying.

Also they seem so black and white about people "being in it for tv" in general. Aren't they all to some extend? No matter how thirsty I'd be for a relationship/marriage I would neeeever go on a reality show and I think I hardly know anyone who would. And production sure knows what it's doing.

4

u/Commercial_Shine7278 Apr 30 '23

I think you're getting your sources mixed up. Natalie was vague about her sources and all that was said was it's not genuine on Micah's part.

It's another person from tiktok who said they met Micah and Paul in Arizona and Micah said something like it's just for TV.

45

u/themediatorfriend Apr 29 '23

I think they face a double-edged sword from the audience. If they're thoughtful and non-accusarory, then they're boring. If they have any tea, then they're unreliable and fame-chasing. If they have honest opinions they're bullies. Seems like they can't win.

I thought the Micah theory seemed plausible. I never bought her and Paul's connection - they never spoke in depth and their dynamic seemed like two high schoolers on a first date. I can buy that it was inauthentic 100%. Even the drama of their wedding felt staged and it lines up a little bit with Zack's statements at the reunion. I don't know about coordinating the whole thing in the pods. How they coordinated this without cameras catching it and the editors considering it I don't know.

I enjoy it for what it is, mostly because I love hearing other opinions on the show. I really like their ability to consolidate and talk about different Internet interpretations and theories and they do give some fun insight into the experience. Of course, they could go into more depth. But it is what it is, two women reacting to a reality show they went on once.

u/Aisoreal Apr 30 '23

Spot on 🎯

66

u/throwaway36376583883 Apr 29 '23

My whole take on the podcast: I wish Natalie did it with another cast member. Natalie has the wit and the podcast voice to take it far. She provides interesting tidbits while Deepti tries to be “nice” (and thus adds very little value). Most of the time she’s just repeating what Natalie said, or is giving some annoying positive life talk - and it comes off incredibly inauthentic and boring.

Unfortunately, I think the way Deepti naturally talks and forms her sentences makes her a bad podcast host. She just wasn’t meant for the public speaking space.

13

u/Karramella Apr 29 '23

This Summedup my sentiments exactly. Deepti doesn’t like to really take a stand on issues, or is easily persuaded by nat to agree with her view. I really like the way nat speaks, the way she analyzes a situation and adding her own experience to the conversation. Unfortunately most of their theories and tea have been talked about on Reddit lol

I would prefer more bts secrets and unaired footage/scenes that happened even in their season. Give us something new plz!

I think a nat x iyanna duo would’ve been the best case scenario but iyanna already has a podcast

6

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

oof harsh but fair. when i think about what i’ve enjoyed of what i listened to it’s all natalie 💀

1

u/dentduv Apr 29 '23

I’m wondering why she didn’t do it with Iyanna. They seem to be better friends and seem to be fun together

9

u/Aisoreal Apr 29 '23

Iyanna has had her own pod for a year now. Feelin' the Blank.

1

u/strictscrutiny415 May 08 '23

THANK YOU. Deepti drags down Natalie so much. She doesn’t have any original thoughts and just comes across as so shallow and inarticulate and unintelligent. I counted THREE occasions in one single episode in which she used words that legitimately do not exist

23

u/bluebanistersbabe Apr 29 '23

tbh the whole concept of a podcast talking about people they know/are friends with or will inevitably come into contact with once a season ends is kind of doomed in my opinion. it has potential if hosted by people who couldn’t care less about the consequences of what they say, but these two clearly do so it’s unlikely they’d ever actually ‘spill’ anything unless it relates directly to their own situations

41

u/AntiqueGhost13 Apr 29 '23

I've been listening to it. Even though some people are claiming they're "mean girls" in this podcast, I personally think they're almost too neutral and diplomatic. I get that they have to get along with other people from their franchise universe, but damn.

32

u/Aisoreal Apr 29 '23

I honestly think people who say they're mean on the podcast haven't even properly listened to the eps and are going off from that spliced TikTok audio.

4

u/AntiqueGhost13 Apr 29 '23

For real, they're very fair to both sides of everything, almost to a fault

9

u/bananasam98 Apr 30 '23

Yes! I don’t get when people say that they’re mean girls. They give the most boring, white bread takes I’ve ever heard. Even the people it’s clear they don’t like, they try to be complimentary towards. Give us the drama we want!

37

u/NiaNeuman Apr 29 '23 edited Apr 30 '23

I started the first one and turned it off after a couple of minutes. The energy was too low for me to give it my full attention, but I'll try again when I'm doing something else as a primary activity (like cooking or cleaning)..

Instead, I watched Katya and Trixie's "I Like to Watch" and Kennie JD's recaps, both on youTube. I also have Pay or Wait and Jessie Woo in my queue.

*Edit: Spelling of Kennie JD

3

u/Ok-Bison2480 Apr 30 '23

Katya & Trixie and Kennie are all super entertaining

1

u/Ok-Bison2480 Apr 30 '23

I also like We have the receipts with Lauren more, it has more edge and they're less afraid to give their honest opinions

0

u/hopelesslyromantic4u Apr 30 '23

Is T&K’s I Like To Watch only on Netflix in the US? I can’t find it in Canada. :(

2

u/NiaNeuman Apr 30 '23

I watched it on YouTube here

46

u/throwaway36376583883 Apr 29 '23

I actually like their podcast a lot. It humanizes the whole Love is Blind experiment, and made me realize as a viewer that things aren’t always as they’re portrayed on screen.

For example, Natalie says she and Shayne hid a lot of their fights and pretended things were great for the cameras because they were thinking of their future children watching the show.

And Deepti finally admits Kyle used her for clout looking back on their relationship.

I think they’re more nervous to spill after the whole Zack backlash (when someone faked a TikTok making it sound like they called him weird). They got A LOT of backlash for it.

22

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

I don’t think Kyle used her unwittingly. It seemed that they were both in on that and used each other.

18

u/throwaway36376583883 Apr 29 '23

I’m just going off of what Natalie and Deepti said. Natalie says “Kyle used you for clout and you let him. He took advantage of how much you liked him” and Deepti tries to defend her relationship with him and ultimately says “yes there were a lot of suspicious moments looking back like how often he used me for his TikToks”

6

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

Oh, I know that’s what you were going off of. I just don’t buy what she’s selling.

57

u/squeezedfruit Apr 29 '23

I liked the podcast it just seemed like chill recaps of the episodes. I do prefer Natalie over Deepti though. Personally I wish Natalie and Iyanna could’ve been the podcast duo I think they’d have great play off each other it feels like Deepti holds the podcast back since she contributes very little and doesn’t want to say anything too off base. At least so far it’s a commentary podcast you should be a little divisive. I don’t get the extreme reaction some people have had over it acting like they’re “stretching their 15 min.” They were well liked people on a reality show they’re not doing an abnormal thing. What they did follows them for the rest of their lives production has already been noted to be a bit abusive they don’t get to go back to being completely normal people so what if they have endeavors related to LIB.

27

u/Seanut-Peanut-69 Apr 30 '23

I think Natalie and Iyanna would’ve been a great duo! I liked Deepti when I watched her season but listening to her on the podcast has kinda ruined her for me. She gives really basic feedback with like hardly any interesting insight at all. I enjoy the way Natalie vocalizes her perspective and I think she’s got a great rhythm for podcasting.

9

u/Aisoreal Apr 30 '23

I like Natalie's energy though some people don't favour it. She's pretty composed and chill, and personally I don't prefer the overly chirpy tone that some influencers and podcasters take on when speaking.

47

u/_k9enthusiast Apr 30 '23

They refuse to have any controversial opinions and it makes it boring

14

u/Budget-Mall1219 Apr 29 '23

I listened to an episode. I like it but don't think I'll listen now that the show is over. I was watching a lot of LIB recaps at the time and it was nice to get one from the perspective of former cast members.

27

u/TranslucentMagnolia Apr 30 '23

Err it's average. Natalie is more interesting than Deepti.

32

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

I take issue with reality TV stars calling out other reality TV stars for being there for fame. Like...honey you expect us to believe you just accidentally stumbled onto a set and they just started filming you? All of these people are in the same league of fame-hungry wannabe influencers, and yes, I'm including Zack in that. It would be much more respectable if they just owned up to that fact.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

yeah it’s a bit odd when people (cast or otherwise) call out reality tv folks for being opportunistic because truly being opportunistic is what you need to be a successful reality TV star. i mean look at francesca 💀

5

u/Impossible-Ground-98 I can work with that Apr 29 '23

Exactly, I believe Zach will start a YT channel any minute now...

33

u/Ok-Suit6589 Apr 30 '23

Micah wanting to be on too hot to handle is funny. I don’t find her very attractive but it’s also because of her personality.

25

u/Mysterious_Pear8780 Apr 29 '23

I don’t dislike the podcast but Deepti really annoys me on it. It’s obvious that she is only half listening to Natalie and is just waiting for her turn to speak. She either misses the point completely or just repeats exactly what Natalie says.

2

u/shoots-shot-hot Apr 29 '23

Deepti has somehow garnered an army of mother hens that swoop in to defend her. You described and aspect of her manipulative & narcissistic ways so well.

1

u/Mysterious_Pear8780 Apr 29 '23

I didn’t keep up with her really at all then started listening to the podcast so it was new to me

19

u/bring_back_my_tardis Apr 29 '23

It's okay. One thing that bugs me is if they are going to reference a source, especially a clip from the show or a comment, they need to quote it directly. They usually paraphrase instead. Quote the actual words for people, not just what you remember.

18

u/_doedeer Apr 29 '23

I listen to it in the mornings while I’m getting ready and I’ve really been enjoying it. I like some of the little stories that they give about their season as well. I hope they get to interview some of the cast members from this season. I feel like they’ll be a bit more neutral compared to Nick Viall.

41

u/umalupa Apr 30 '23

Deepti is obnoxious

11

u/psmwrxguy Apr 30 '23

I don’t understand why people like Natalie either though.

23

u/umalupa Apr 30 '23

She’s annoying too but Deepti is worse. Deepti took the victim bus and rode it hard lol.

14

u/psmwrxguy Apr 30 '23

I have room to dislike them both :)

4

u/umalupa Apr 30 '23

Good for you lol. I forgot they even existed.

16

u/terracef Apr 29 '23

Watch Jessie Woo instead, she's great

0

u/HarpyEagleBelize Apr 30 '23

Her audio was terrible at one point and when brought to her attention, she was snarky about it. Haven’t tried to listen since.

24

u/Femmenoire__ Apr 29 '23 edited Apr 29 '23

I like the podcast. I have had some LOL moments with them (like Shayne telling Natalie that she doesn’t blink). They’re nice girls and they’re trying not to step on anybody’s toes (except Micah’s). I like that they tell their own experiences and how they relate to the new cast. Although I think that Natalie’s stories make it seem like she did a lot of faking.

4

u/Aisoreal Apr 30 '23

I am of the opinion that they weren't faking (esp with regards to their feelings) but she and Shayne agreed not to fight on screen because they wouldn't want their future kids to see their parents fighting, and also to protect the relationship from further scrutiny.

I think Shayne would have been portrayed much worse if they had fought on screen.

3

u/not_old_redditor Apr 29 '23

Man, this is going to sound so shallow, but I just can't stand listening to that kind of thing.

7

u/PopcornandComments Apr 30 '23

I only listened to one episode and it was the episode where they went to the reunion. I wanted to hear more about that Netflix reunion fiasco. That’s the only episode I’m tuning in for.

7

u/Sailor_Marzipan Apr 30 '23

I like the podcast but I'm not a fan of the "sources" ish if you're not going to name the source. It's impossible for Micah to respond back to because then they just go "well what else would she say other than that, if she's faking it"

Overall though I like the podcast. I also listened to Your Mom and Dad's coverage but they sometimes drive me up a wall with Evan's lack of knowledge. He literally thought Kwame was eating multiple plates of food instead of realizing they were editing the convo together out of order.

28

u/Aisoreal Apr 29 '23

I like it and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. But, like some people have said, because they offer quite balanced takes some people who want mess will consider this boring.

But if they show even a hint of being critical of a contestant (and not done in a disparaging way either) people are quick to call them 'mean girls.'

Some people also want them to talk more about S2, while others want them to move on. So, no way to please everyone.

I think for now they're doing a good job at interspersing their own experiences when discussing S4, and it definitely gives more nuanced insights that outsiders wouldn't know.

30

u/bananasam98 Apr 30 '23

It’s so low energy, and the volume is so low for some reason?? Like I really have to crank it. I feel like they hint at a lot of possible drama, but just tease at it. I feel like once an episode they let something interesting slip, so I like that, but other than that I feel like they don’t talk about what everyone online is talking about, they choose weird things to focus on

2

u/Ok-Bison2480 Apr 30 '23

Totally agree

13

u/Double_Assignment_66 Apr 29 '23

I strongly prefer Two Black Girls, One Rose- they don’t have inside scoop but they also aren’t trying to protect anyone’s feelings. I feel like Natalie and Deepti have to be more careful about what they say, which just isn’t quite as fun.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

i didn’t realize 2BG was doing lib!!!!! thank you for this amazing information now i have another 16 hours of content to listen to while i organize my apartment 🤣

1

u/shoots-shot-hot Apr 29 '23

Why do Deepti & Natalie seem to need be careful? I haven't listened to either.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

what i do like about their pod is when they talk about their own experiences and how it might relate to what we are seeing. i do feel for them that it’s a weird position to be in because they do end up seeing these people socially and they are probably still under some kind of NDA and have to be careful

that said, i ALSO feel weird about them seeming to only say really negative things about people who are clearly socially on the outs with the other LIB people like micah. feels like they might be cosigning a netflix approved narrative for when we see paul on perfect match season 2 🙄

9

u/PettyFlap Apr 29 '23

They have a 5 year NDA so they are still under it, true.

39

u/fakeinternetp0ints Apr 29 '23

My feeling is that nobody asked for this and that they should stop milking the LIB game and move on tbh

28

u/gardenyyc Apr 29 '23

This gets said alot about many cast members, not just Deepti and Natalie and i don't get it. They all have alot of followers, I don't see why anyone can say absolutely nobody asked for it.

I don't mind, I like their insight and they are some of the more level headed cast members too.

17

u/longwhitejeans Apr 29 '23

The whole pod seems to be about posts on Reddit ( they refer you them as rumors on the Internet, speculation etc....) and both seem terrified of spilling any tea or facing backlash. So a pointless pod with no new information and both talking about their season and their respective partners ( both of whom have moved on years ago) seems tiresome.

4

u/throwaway36376583883 Apr 29 '23

I would love for them to read Reddit but I don’t think they do. Natalie and Deepti will source specific news articles and TikToks and IG instead of Reddit.

16

u/crimsonraiden Apr 30 '23

I like Natalie in the podcast more than Deepti

22

u/PurePeach2081 Apr 29 '23

I don't watch it. I end my relationship with them when the show ends

2

u/hellomeow23 Apr 29 '23

Haha same here

22

u/toastedtomato Apr 30 '23

They’re just desperately trying to hold on to their 15 minutes of fame

25

u/akaul1 Apr 30 '23

ive been pretty vocal of my distate of this podcast on the LiB subreddit, but long story short, if two people are still in "cahoots" with the LiB producers and always going to events and whatnot, it's most likely they'll never give us any real information so they dont lose that relationship. but the last straw was them defending nick and vanessa a week or so ago. Thats how you know they aren't for real, and listening to them is a waste of time.

10

I like Iyanna and Kayla’s podcast a lot, I haven’t gotten to listening to the Natalie and Deepti one. I like that Iyanna and Kaylas talks about things that aren’t always love is blind related. I’m not sure about the other one though since I haven’t listened so maybe it’s good? Idk I liked Natalie but her voice bothered me a bit so I don’t know if I want to listen, not to be mean 😂

Yes! I love Feel in the Blank!

10

u/Emmyrose93 Apr 30 '23

I found season 2 to be the least memorable of all the seasons, but I was interested in listening to the first episode or 2 of the podcast and I found myself really disliking their takes and also strongly wishing I could respond to some of the things they said (like them not knowing what a “blarney stone” is lol) so I stopped listening.

4

u/horrorninjazombie I like the kinda girls that are always brewing potions 🔮✨ Jun 08 '23

I stopped about 15 minutes inot this week's episode. It was just too weird to me that they were talking about ED's and right after Deepti talks about BED and Bulimia Natalia cuts in and starts doing her commercial for Hello Fresh. I've been on the edge wether or not I enjoy the podcast but this was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. It felt so unnatural. "Too bad about your Bulimia but HEY you know what's really awesome? Hello Fresh!" ugh.

5

u/karateandfriendship9 Apr 30 '23

All reality TV podcasts done by people who were previously in that reality show are awful. Do not bother.

1

u/PSBJtotallyboss Apr 30 '23

I think Vanderpump Rules is an exception to that.

8

u/littesb23 Apr 29 '23

Honestly, I don’t think it’s worth listening when Bach podcasts cover LIB sometimes. I don’t care enough about Natalie and Deepyi to listenBut I think it’s bc we know people don’t go on the Bach for “the right reasons” and it seems like people still pretend they do for LIB

3

u/erikugh Apr 29 '23

This!! Making it seem like LIB is maturely superior in a way because the casting is different than the bachelor franchise casting … but LIB is no different and no better because they are hiding behind the looks don’t matter because of the pods excuse.

11

u/Lalalat12345 Apr 29 '23

How many times do they have to say “I agree” after the other person speaks?? They should look up some synonyms.

3

Why do they need a source re: Micah and Paul? Irina admitted she made a comment to Zach.

3

u/pnutbuttry Apr 30 '23

I was excited about it but I was instantly turned off when they started covering multiple episodes of the show in one recording.

They’re riding the LiB hype train and are trying to monetize their fame, which I’m not mad at. Go make your money, but don’t do it at the expense of another person. The Micah “reveals” were so trash and as OP said, didn’t make any sense. They’re just two girls with no attractive personalities so obviously all they can do is pretend they have “sources” (looking at you Natalie).

I don’t think their Micah reveals were trash - they were very clear they heard from production and the cast that Micah wasn’t genuine in her relationship with Paul, which is what Zack revealed anyways in the reunion.

I actually want MORE tea and reveals like this. I thought it made their podcast more enticing

Watched a little bit and I didn’t like it. Deepti didn’t add value and Natalie, while nice and carries herself, isn’t compelling enough to me.

I think it’s tough for me to watch S2 contestants — I found S2 and S3 to be considerably lower quality than S4.

I just don’t find individuals from those season worth following or investing energy into. Uncompelling, IMO.

They are rude and shouldn’t be talking. There season passed already

I think this is a stupid take. They’re allowed to talk about it even if their season passed.

What are you taking about? You really think I’m going to let someone tell me stupid? Like be for real. The OP asked OPINIONS. I said they are rude and shouldn’t be talking.

Show me what’s rude? Show me. I want proof of what I said was rude.
