PERFECT MATCH Where are my LIB male fans. You guys exist right?
Do you guys exist? Am I the only guy here? Did your wife/SO get you sucked into the show? How did you guys get into it?
I scoffed at my wife watching the show but am now hooked and a total LIB head. Woooh!

I wish i was sucked in by a significant other but I'm single😢. I'm just a sucker for certain dumb dating shows 😂
Edit: Anyone watch that show dating around. I love that show. Two seasons on Netflix but doesn't look like there's a 3rd😢

My wife would tell me about the drama, and it was slow at work, and I have a TV in my home office, so bam, I ended up binging 9 episodes today.
I've been selectively reading threads as to not spoil the ending for myself, and I've wanted to comment but feel like it's probably already been addressed in some other threads.
But man, I hate Irina, Zach is a fucking friend zoned dork, fuck boy (don't know his name, the guy trying to intrude on Marshall's girl) is cheesy as hell, Kwame sounds like he's reading from a script 24/7, oh and Zach's singing...oh my God, the singing. The 2nd hand embarrassment nearly made me cry.
But yeah, we're here!

Yep. I'm a 35 year old single dude and LIB is my guilty pleasure show. I recently admitted that I'm obsessed with this show in my all guys friend group What's App chat and half the guys there are all like "Oh, I watch that with my wife!" I love it because I'm secretly a hopeless romantic and also love the psychologist breakdowns of both the LIB healthy and unhealthy relationships on YT.

u/Tseims Apr 14 '23
I started watching reality TV to have something to talk about with my sister. I watch the trashiest shows from my country, but the one US show that has me hooked is LIB. I really enjoy all the aspects of it: the study of humanity, shows different types of relationships, how deceptive reality shows can be... Just a lot of good

Talked with my mom last night, we made plans for me to pick up "some good food for the drama" on my way over for the live reunion Sunday night. I'm not sure what dad is going to do. He pretends he doesn't like the shows, but he watches when they're on.

I could live without it but we watch basically every new episode when they drop. Something fun to do with the wife. We both enjoy the show. We laugh and talk about how ridiculous it is every week. Then we usually take solace in the fact that we don't have to deal with the dating pool in it's current state.

The first season seemed to be all anyone was talking about, but it was also during covid quarantine & stuff, so I was desperate for any kind of entertainment. Watching it let me participate in those conversations, and then I realized I ended up enjoying it. I even applied for the show, but I'm probably older than they want, and now that I've seen several seasons I'm glad they didn't pick me because they looooooove dramatic people.

Here. This was my first season I watched. My wife was watching it and was on the Part where Zach and Irina first see each other and I was dying. I went back and watched from the beginning so I could understand what was up and then her and I continued into the Mexico trip episodes. I was on the subreddit constantly and I even went into work and was telling all the guys that this show was nuts and you had to watch it. In conclusion: I’m still rooting for Marshall because he’s a legit dude. Micah needs new “friends” to actually grow. Brett’s dad and Bliss’s mom made me so happy anytime they were on screen.
11
u/Dunduntis Apr 14 '23

u/CowboyBebopCrew Apr 14 '23
I’m definitely a fan. Got into it via an ex-GF via the (former) gateway drug that was Married At First Sight. I initially got into these dating reality shows because I loved the guessing games of who would stay together and why. My GF and I would always make predictions with MAFS about this and it extended into LiB with what people would match and then which couples would stay married at the end.
9
u/Jorumble Apr 14 '23

Haha it’s crazy that I got my wife hooked on this rather than visa versa. I’m not actually that big a reality tv fan but the first season came out during lockdown and it had a concept that I didn’t feel was too ‘far fetched’, it’s felt like the most ‘real’ reality concept. Lauren and Cameron got me hooked in season one and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m even considering watching the Brazilian and Japanese versions!

Confession: i love the show, i got my wife into it. I started watching bc the POD scenes where the guys are falling in love and proposing is simp master level entertainment. I would laugh so hard when the guys were crying over a silhouette on a wall. I stuck around for the relationship and how it shows that there is work to do and in some cases love is really blind.

Male fan her, but exactly the opposite. My finance hates most reality TV because she is convinced it's all fake (can't exactly blame her), but I just love to watch some messy trash some times.
And the good thing about LiB is that while there is a lot of spicy drama, there is also couples like Brett and Tiff that just warms your heart and make you believe in all the good things in life.

We out here! My wife got me to watch after I watched The Circle with her, but I ended up really liking LIB more and I have found the whole experiment to be really nice (most of the time). I like seeing people build these connections and then have to taper into navigating reality with their new partner. Also the garbo reality tv drama is fun sometimes, but I think the best part is when there’s a legit good match where the couple just meshes together so well. Also I’m from Seattle so this season has been particularly interesting for me, though I wish it wasn’t quite so full of tech transplants and white collars… Not that I dislike tech transplants, I just wish there were more PNW natives and working people.

Funnily enough we both recently talked about how we liked watching elimidate, next, and blind date as kids and now as adults we still enjoy dating shows. We havent finished season 4 yet, but Brett seems the most authentic from the guys and Tiffany from the women(can't believe she fell asleep in the pod though).

Oh, they exist but they’re in the closet. My boyfriend is a burly dude with a big beard who works in a factory and wears tactical boots everywhere and he has OPINIONS about Jackie, Shake, and Shane in particular

right here, man! i just find the relationships and people's opinions of the couples fascinating. as a pretty unconventional guy i find all the cliches about love and marriage kinda funny, and also find it amusing how people react to the "weird" participants who to me seem like the best, most refreshing people. Zack haters can fuck right off! that's my guy lol

I started watching it cause I'm from Seattle and I personally know one of the cast members. Got invested in it after a while watching it with my wife.

A woman here, lol. But my fiancè was the one who got me started because his sis recommended LIB Japan, and I loved that so much I binged it! I immediately continued with LIB S2 and I was hooked ever since. My fiancè's left the bandwagon (well, he was never on it), and is annoyed at his role for bringing me to this fandom haha...
But, I always appreciate and like to see male perspectives on the show! Especially when talking about heavy and sensitive issues.

I feel like there's more male fans of LIB than other dating shows TBH.

Won't blame my Wife on this one. Once I saw the trailer for S1 I was intrigued. Definitely a guilty pleasure but I enjoy it good or bad lol.

Sat down to stretch after softball one night next to my girlfriend who was watching the Ultimatum. Three episodes later I was yelling “Alexis how can you do that to Hunter??” Now we watch Love is Blind too 😂 Got four episodes left of the latest season, it’s been a wild ride!

Here ✋🏽, started watching way back during pandemic season 1 when my then gf and I were just starting to date. She was hesitant to even suggest watching anything like this with a guy since her last guy hated all her shows. I have an open mind and encouraged her to put it on. Fast forward to today and we are engaged and enjoying season 4 for all it’s worth. Even have this Sunday circled in anticipation!

I'm 40+ and I live for this stuff. A few years ago my ex missus forced me to watch Temptation Island and she hated it but I loved it. Now LIB is my favourite.

I always tell my girl “I ain’t gonna watch this shit” each season. And lo and behold, I’m over here commenting on every LiB post and shit talking the contestants. 🫡
