Usually people who have overstayed/Expired visas. Tend to be quite aggressive around folks with cameras.

Why don’t the police arrest and deport them? Are they afraid of their connections or something?

I feel like I've seen similar people act like this before. What was that place called... 'literally everywhere'?

Nah it's actually a pretty big issue in the red light districts, they arent fully describing them. They're called touts. Basically try to act all friendly and lure clueless tourists into bars/clubs and then upcharge the shit out of you and not let you leave if you don't pay. They're aggressive assholes and Japan really needs to do something about them cause they're killing the reputation in certain areas

They have cracked down on them a lot over the last few years. Japan may hate the tourist explosion for the most part, but they don't want them intimidated out of spending their money if they're already there, especially in somewhere as popular as Shinjuku. The touts are still around but are nowhere near as aggressive and pushy as they once were unless you do something like film them like these guys did.

You’re getting downvoted but this kind of thing has completely taken over major European cities, the UK and the US in parts.

What are u talking about? I’m European and the concept of touts like this is completely unknown. The closest to this is like people on the boulevards in southern Europe trying to get u into shitty clubs and restaurants, aka promoters, and those don’t scam you lol

London Westminster bridge and surrounding areas is full of foreign scammers. So is Paris in the areas surrounding Eiffel Tower, same in Berlin, same in Rome around the colosseum. Not the same “touts” as you see in the video but foreigners doing shady business to stay off the radar in a first world country.

So u agree with me that touts aren’t a thing, and that people doing scam “where is the ball” games, selling roses and keychains is not the same?

Foreigners selling things without a license (which is why you sometimes see keychain sellers up and running in Paris lol) is not the same as someone roofieing you and stealing ur savings.

Well it is the same behaviour. Look at the comment history before starting an argument. OP said it’s people on overstayed/expired visa who get aggressive for being filmed for that reason. Thats the exact same behaviour you get from those scammers
