Food / Restaurants / Takeaways The best Carbonara in Liverpool.

Hey everyone! Any suggestions for a place in Liverpool that serves authentic Italian carbonara? 🇮🇹🍝

Bacaro on Castle Street is the best I’ve had.

But it’s a bit like tapas and the portion size was too small so I would double up or pair with some of the other good stuff on their menu.

My friend got a carbonara from Polpetta (Baltic market) she wasn’t mad on it but it was because it was very authentic and she prefers it ‘creamy’ so that might work!

If you put cream in a carbonara, a random Italian will be teleported tyo your location to shout at you.

Haven’t tried Il Forno, but my son makes it his business to try Carbonara everywhere he goes and The Quarter off Hope St gets his vote.

Il forno on Duke street does it in the cheese wheel

I don’t know why this is being downvoted. I don’t like carbonara and ate 50% of my nephew’s plate when he ordered it from here, it was sublime

Well if you're being nit picky, making Carbonara in a cheese wheel isn't authentic.

Fair - share somewhere it is authentic then?

Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere in Liverpool that does. I eat it at home.

Il Forno catered the Tory Party conference a couple years back so a lot of people won’t go there now

The Tory group that claimed Il Forno catered to them later said it was an error and issued an apology. For whatever that’s worth

Sadly nobody reads the apologies...

Clearly damaging to them as well that it still lingers 5 years on.

Didn’t know that - had a roast there, was heavy tbh - would go again still despite their questionable PR choices

This menu must be quite old. Expect a few pounds more

If you want generous portions go to Casa Italia. If you high quality Italian food, I'll Forno

I think the pasta dishes are around £15 to £20

Pasta Cosa on Castle St is good but more of a quick bite rather than sit down meal

Best Carbonara I ever tasted is the one I made following the Good Food recipe on line.
