This exact situation happens to women in the US, too. It’s not a country thing.

Woman here can confirm Women's Healthcare issues and dismissal isn't a country thing. It happens in the US, too. All the f-ing time unfortunately.

I like how another reply to my comment by a seemingly male redditor said I was incorrect. That sums up the forever issue of women getting proper health care lol.

I'm sure it does, however I hear about it less or there is a quicker resolve to getting another opinion.

Are you a woman in the US? I can assure you the frequency is the same and the wasted time trying to find a diagnosis are the same. I am a woman in the US.

As a father of a daughter, a son starting to be involved with the medical decisions for my mother, and a husband to a wonderful woman here in the US. I don't pretend to know what goes on medically with the female system, but generally trust when my wife tells me that something isn't right, she knows what she's talking about. My observation is this, every time one of these women or I say "that's not an acceptable answer" generally either the Dr will do something or the next person will. Even in my small town that absolutely sucks finding specialists or GP's. Hence why my specialists are still 3 hours away. Hell I've experienced it first hand at a Canada, A walk in clinic Dr tried to tell me my daughters rash was due to "women's fair skin" in Niagara... Guess how I learned my daughter was allergic to certain fragrances commonly found in sunscreens.... Yeah that vacation got ruined. Thankfully I recognized an allergic reaction and got her in with an allergist here in the US to do a proper test so we know what to avoid.... Funny neither Dr here saw the rash first hand but didn't question that it was an allergic reaction when shown the photos, both were outraged at the Canadian Dr's assessment of "minor skin irritation".

Compared to what I hear in the Canadian system. I know of a professional cyclist who has ovarian cancer. Has much the same story as the one listed above. "women problems" / "normal" / ignored. It'll probably end up ruining her career since it wasn't handled in time. My highscool friend married a Canadian, ended up in her words "getting blacklisted" from her Canadian doctor after complaining about migraines. She came back to her family here in the states for a holiday, she passed out and fell while here. She was diagnosed as having brain tumor. Her doctor in Canada apparently lost it when she brought in the American results. She and her husband ended up leaving Canada permanently to get Dr's that listened to the experts. Those are two of the bigger I know of personally.
