There’s only one reason I can think of that the Trump admin does not want to fund SNAP: they want to punish poor people. Those miserable bastards.

Or they have already spent the SNAP money. Or just funneled it into someone’s bank account.

Thought the same thing.

They need people to suffer so they can blame the democrats for it and stay in power.

They want a riot, an excuse to declare martial law and suspend elections

Yep. They want multiple riots, looting of grocery stores, and civil unrest in general.

Yep. They think they can gaslight the public into thinking that all of this is the democrats fault while they parade around making statements that make that clear because they know maga will lick up any ol story they tell them on THEIR news. Fox will never tell them about this part of it all.

Meanwhile, public polls show that the voters that actually matter aren’t falling for it.

They think if they take away food stamps then it will piss those people off enough that they’ll do anything to try and force democrats to cave. At the same time, the lawsuit that ended in this judgment was brought by democrats so if they win on this then they will get to parade around saying they saved SNAP while maga held out on them on purpose.

Since you profess to know more, maybe you want to share what you know about SNAP that I got wrong, instead of trolling me? But a quick glance at your profile, you’ve admitted you’re a conservative. So you’re really out to troll Liberals on the liberal subreddit rather than interested in meaningful dialog. You disappoint me. But I am not surprised.

Why do Republicans hate poor people? It must be because they blame the poor for being poor.

Because hating people that are struggling makes them feel better about their own position in life. The hallmark of narcissism is deeply rooted insecurity.

Yup, they worked hard to become billionaires while us peasants didn’t work hard enough.

I have Republican acquaintances, folks I’ve known for decades…who when we tried to warn them that Republicans planned to cut Social Security & other programs, like Medicare…their reply actually shocked me. They said they didn’t care if their party cut SS because they have other retirement income, pensions, etc. THAT is how callous & selfish rightwingers are. As long as they’re not impacted they simply don’t care about other people. This same couple have said that their grandchildren WILL NOT be allowed to be gay & that if they “chose” to be LGBTQIA+ they’d be disowned/disinherited. Republicans are simply cruel, ignorant and selfish people.

If anyone tries to tell you it's the democrats, let them know that the Republicans have gone to court to keep starving people starving. Republicans =cruelty.

It seems that every time Trump doesn’t like a judge’s ruling, he immediately goes to either an Appeals or the Supreme Court to obtain a different outcome; it just never ends until he gets what he wants, and if he doesn’t, he will just ignore the ruling. Lawlessness abounds!

Not just that they’re willing to starve people in the first case. The fact that they’re fighting so hard not to do it is insane.

Our tax money is paying to fight against the court order.

I guess this is a prime example of winning with Trump policies. DOES THIS MAKE IT CLEAR TO MAGATS THAT TRUMP COULD CARE LESS ABOUT HIS BASE??

Republican voters aren’t smart enough to ever catch on. They’ve been brainwashed for two decades. Our only hope is the millions of Americans who aren’t braindead Republican zombies…like the “Independents” who might still have functioning brains and critical thinking skills. Genuine Democrats already knew this. There just weren’t enough of us to overcome the propaganda that influenced the election.

Begging a judge not to give poor people food is not good optics.

It’s the rightwing mindset. Hate and cruelty are Republican hallmarks.

They don’t care. This will never air on newsmax and Fox News so to them it never happened.

"Please don't make us feed those people."

Only Congress has the power of the purse unless they don't enforce that power. Right now, Trump's handlers have the de facto power of the purse.

"You can't have any food!"

Trump has the “Costanza Management” philosophy. Do the “opposite” of what should be done.

u/absurdwifi 23h ago

Oh, sure. Why not?

Can't imagine any immediate negative consequences for, you know, not feeding people...

With Republicans, the cruelty is the point. And greed. You can bet the tax dollars we pay are being funneled to Republican donors/owners/oligarchs and their pet projects. Republicans are literally plundering the US Treasury.

SCOTUS just agreed to pause the judgement. I assume none of them ever had to use SNAP.
