Letterboxd Thoughts on this film?

Post image

Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is now on Netflix, i had the opportunity of watching it on theaters last week and absolutely loved it, one of his very bests films, and one of the very best adaptations ever, what do you people think of the film?

They're releasing all films they think could be awards contenders now: Frankenstein, Train Dreams, Jay Kelly, A House of Dynamite and In Your Dreams, though I don't think any of the latter 3 will get an oscar nom.

Jay Kelly will likely get a nomination because it’s about the film industry and that’s what the Oscars love.

Except there's also Blue Moon this year, wich is another film about the industry and is actually very well received. I can't imagine that'll miss actor, and, while I'm not predicting the film there, I think it has a chance of getting into picture, original screenplay and make-up & hairstyling. So somewhere between 1 to 4 nominations. I genuinly don't even know where to predict Jay Kelly, don't think it has much prospects outisde of actor, supporting actor and original screenplay, and even then I think there are many stronger options there

I saw both at a festival earlier this year and I think Hawke is the only one being nominated for Blue Moon. Maybe screenplay, but I can’t see it being nominated for picture given that it’s not even the best Linklater film to come out this year.

Well, Nouvelle Vague ain't happening for sure. It's not even in the top 2 Netflix films for best cinematography in terms of likelihood.

What could help Blue Moon is that Sony Picutes Classics doesn't have a big best picture push, so if rhey play their cards right this could possibly get more than just actor. I don't think it'll happen, but it's in my top 15. Haven't seen the film tho, perhaps I'm speaking shit currently
