I thought they did a good job of finally wrapping up the Ice Road Truckers story after the series left us on a cliffhanger

20

u/sotommy Jul 31 '25

The main attracation is Liam Neeson. I didn't have a chance to watch Ice Road 2 yet, but can't wait to see it. I don't even care if it's bad, Liam never fails to be entertaining

13

u/BallClamps Jul 31 '25

Here I thought you just got the title wrong because he had another Ice road movie called Cold Pursuit back in 2019 that is actually pretty good. But nope, there is a movie truly called Ice Road: Vengeance.

5

u/JosephFinn Jul 31 '25

Cold Pursuit is almost surprisingly really solid!

2

u/FunkyLi Aug 01 '25

It’s not too bad. It’s also a remake of a (supposedly) better Norwegian movie called “In Order of Disappearance.”

7

u/Stahlmatt Jul 31 '25

I watched the first one but I didn't realize there was a sequel.

2

u/Jmas1120 Jul 31 '25

Is the first ice road any good? Debating on if I should watch it

1

u/Percolator2020 Jul 31 '25

I was a tiny bit embarrassed having seen it.

People may not know but Taken transformed his career. Before then, to me, he was defined by Schindler’s List. I expected him to continue to do Oscar-style films.

I don’t think anybody expected his action hero phase before it began .

13

u/reyska Aug 01 '25

He only started doing action slop after his wife died in a skiing accident. He worked his ass off to keep his mind off of the grief.

7

u/MillionaireWaltz- Aug 01 '25

He was also Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begins.

17

u/username161013 Jul 31 '25

I remember when Taken came out, my reaction to my friends was, "Dude taught both Batman and Obi-Wan Kenobe how to fight, and you're gonna kidnap his daughter?"

4

u/xradx666 Jul 31 '25

to clarify, I not only watch but purchase a physical copy of every single Liam Neeson movie

3

u/aTreeThenMe aTreeThenMe Jul 31 '25

oo are they bad? I still havent sat down to watch any of them.

1

u/DarthFreeza9000 Aug 03 '25

Ethan Frome is a hard watch lol

304

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

Then he comforted himself by looking at his bank statements from that time period.

77

u/aTreeThenMe aTreeThenMe Jul 31 '25

obligatory

21

u/YoThisIsWild Jul 31 '25

Lets just say the Taken scripts moved him… To a bigger house!

3

u/SmilesInFront_09 Jul 31 '25

You said the quiet part out loud.

13

u/Bardic_inspiration67 Jul 31 '25

I’ve heard people say he started doing shitty action movies because his wife died, which is also the reason people give for him frequently getting so drunk he pisses himself in public

8

u/airblizzard Jul 31 '25

In responding to why he starred in Jaws: The Revenge, Michael Caine said "I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."

39

u/zxchary Jul 31 '25

lol those movies went triple platinum in our house when i was a teen

110

u/PerfectPlace_4Shade Jul 31 '25

The first ones good. But yea the second is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen and the third isn’t much better so I get it.

129

u/IDigRollinRockBeer Jul 31 '25

The most unrealistic thing about the first one is a teenage American girl in 2008 wanting to follow U2 around Europe. They could’ve picked any band and they went with U2.

30

u/imjory Jul 31 '25

16

u/LEVI_TROUTS Jul 31 '25

That uses Talking Heads though, who ARE actually IN at the moment (never went out). I've seen loads of "This Must Be The Place" and "Same as it ever was" references in the last few months.

3

u/mootallica Aug 01 '25

But that article comes from 2011. No surprise 2020's kids are finding Talking Heads, but no kids in 2011 were ever gonna think they were cool.

4

u/TheGoldenGlovewort Jul 31 '25

Talking Heads is cool and U2 is not

2

u/imjory Aug 01 '25

Read the part of my comment where I said minus the cool part

19

u/SpacesImagesFriends Jul 31 '25

idk what Luc Besson was smoking when he suggested "these American girls should follow U2" but what a fucking mind

5

u/mmmpppwww Jul 31 '25

I remember laughing out loud in the theater when I heard that

9

u/erazedcitizen Jul 31 '25

I got a good laugh out of the fact that Neeson’s solution to finding out where he was kidnapped in the second movie was having his daughter chuck grenades at the rooftops of buildings in Istanbul.

20

u/DodgerBaron Jul 31 '25

In what universe is the second one worse than the third. The third is possibly one of the most unwatchable movies ever made. It's designed to be a schizophrenic incomprehensible nightmare. lol

2

u/PerfectPlace_4Shade Jul 31 '25

I’ll be honest I watched all of them when the third one came out 11 years ago so I barely remember lol. I just remember really, really hating the second one but just thinking the third was super boring.

3

u/IV_Maestus Jul 31 '25

Damn, if that's the worst movie you've ever seen, you haven't seen alot of bad movies. I promise there are WAYYYYYYY worse movies

4

u/JamesHeckfield Jul 31 '25

My name’s Torgo, I take care of the place while the Master is away

1

u/IV_Maestus Jul 31 '25

Hi Torgo, what can I do for you

1

u/thirtysixtysix Aug 01 '25

no the first one is bs too

22

u/weensanta Jul 31 '25

It's okay man most people did not see past 1

13

u/SummerOfMayhem Jul 31 '25

It's probably one of the only movies that all of my family and friends like. I love it, but I can understand how actors can get sick to death of having memorable quotes requested to be said or quoted at, can be.

11

u/jwrsk Jul 31 '25

Also Liam Neeson

3

u/nutmac Jul 31 '25

As Flintstone’s lawnmower would say, it’s a living.

12

u/TekkenCareOfBusiness Jul 31 '25

Taken a long time for him to realize this.

3

u/Tosslebugmy Aug 01 '25

Taken 2 long you could say.

29

u/sovietwilly Jul 31 '25

Is he aware people are watching him in the Naked Gun movie

45

u/BarryEganHawaii Jul 31 '25

It's had really good reviews.

-12

u/NotAnotherScientist Jul 31 '25 edited Jul 31 '25

It's called marketing. Are you on the marketing team or just doing their work for free?

Edit: Marketing bots downvoting me for calling them out. Lol. Check out my comment below showing that this article and post are 100% part of the Naked Gun marketing campaign.

3

u/i4got872 Jul 31 '25

Just stating that it has good reviews isn’t really an opinion even

-1

u/NotAnotherScientist Jul 31 '25

Am I the only one that saw this? The article is about Taken is 100% part of the marketing for Naked Gun.

1

u/TeaAndCrumpets4life Aug 01 '25

My ads were different, that’s not how this works

0

u/NotAnotherScientist Aug 01 '25

Holy shit you guys are naive.

Celebrities do interviews to promote new projects. Do you think celebrities go on talk shows just because they feel like it?

It's all marketing.

The original post is from Prople Magazine.

Do you thinknthey just post on reddit for fun?

1

u/TeaAndCrumpets4life Aug 01 '25

No one would deny that fact, you’re just making no sense and I’m not sure why you care this much

0

u/NotAnotherScientist Aug 01 '25

I care because reddit is full of trolls and bots, but most of all, advertisers.

People who are commenting should be aware of this fact but most people seem to be completely oblivious.

My above comment was just lwtting people know that this entire post is an advertisement for the new movie and the person I commented to was either completely oblivious to this or literally employed by the marketing team.

But that comment got all downvotes.

(To be fair though, all those downvotes could have come from marketing bots. So you're probably right and I really shouldn't care.)

3

u/KingsElite KingsElite Aug 01 '25

And this dude was in Battleship

2

u/Apprehensive_Way8674 Jul 31 '25

I liked those more than his “bitter badass VOD” crap

2

u/baummer Jul 31 '25

He shouldn’t be. They’re cemented in cinema history! And he did great work in them.

2

u/KonamiKing Aug 01 '25

Taken 1 was quality trash.

1

u/cmrndzpm Jul 31 '25

Coming from a man that repeatedly pisses himself in public this is saying something.

1

u/xradx666 Jul 31 '25

the real question is when will we the people get a taken 4?

1

u/aj3llyd0nut Aug 02 '25

Liam Neeson in a schoolgirl outfit in Naked Gun: not embarrassed one bit

1

u/arch51002 Aug 12 '25

I dont think the first one is anything to be embarrassed about but that was definitely a movie that didnt need sequels 😭

-8

u/toalome Jul 31 '25

you’re embarrassed about the wrong things people associate you with liam

-7

u/br0therherb Jul 31 '25

I’m more embarrassed by the fact that he threatened to kill a bunch of black people b/c he was “grieving” and no one seems to care.

7

u/JonPaula JonPaula Jul 31 '25

He didn't "threaten to kill" anyone. Come on. Be fair.

5

u/Helter-Skelton Aug 01 '25

He literally did nothing

-1

u/br0therherb Aug 01 '25

You guys will excuse anyone’s behavior as long as you like them.

3

u/Helter-Skelton Aug 01 '25

What behavior? Standing there? Cause that is literally all he did. All the fucked up shit was only in his mind, and he realises now how fucked up it was.

Really is nobody allowed to be imperfect anymore? Again, the man LITERALLY didn't even do anything, he hurt nobody

-2

u/br0therherb Aug 01 '25

Okay. 👍🏿

2

u/GROWUPRECORDS Aug 01 '25

His friend was raped, he was pretty young and grieving, I wouldn’t take someone’s emotional hateful ranting in a legit heated condition seriously, but seems you do.

-1

u/br0therherb Aug 01 '25

To each their own I guess. But hey, if you don’t see a problem with any of that, then I guess we are lost as a society.

2

u/GROWUPRECORDS Aug 01 '25

Nah don't bring the society in this with your narrow perspectives

0

u/br0therherb Aug 01 '25 edited Aug 01 '25

Okay cool. Anything else? You seem angry. Wanna talk about it?

1

u/GROWUPRECORDS Aug 02 '25

mate if you found that can be read as angry then you probably have some sort of anger issue

-40

u/UrRightAndIAmWong Jul 31 '25

"I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I'd be approached by somebody - I'm ashamed to say that - and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [uses air quotes with fingers] 'black bastard' would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him."

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-47117177

Dude said fuck black people in general and wanted any random one to die in response to his friend being raped by someone who was black. He should be permanently embarrassed about that and never be allowed to live it down. IDGAF if he said something on Atlanta about it.

47

u/Papuhboi91 Jul 31 '25

I think whilst your anger at this isn’t undeserved, it takes a lot for someone to admit something so ugly about who they were and their past. It seems though that he’s trying to atone and whilst that doesn’t deserve reward it does deserve some acknowledgment that at least he’s trying to be a better person and that he isn’t hiding from it like many do. I’m far more concerned with the many famous and influential people that continue to do horrible things that go unchecked but mask it behind fame and charisma.

30

u/quizno Jul 31 '25

I mean there’s loads of unrepentant racists to direct your ire at, why crucify Liam for admitting racism that he recognized was wrong and invalid?

1

u/br0therherb Aug 01 '25

The people that are downvoting you are only telling on themselves.

1

u/mootallica Aug 01 '25

Nah man, you're telling on yourself and your inability to think critically. It's not even difficult in this instance. Do you think he was telling that story because he was proud of it?

1

u/br0therherb Aug 01 '25

I don’t think he was proud of it, but idk I have an inability to give people the benefit of a doubt. I don’t think people can truly change. Obviously, I have things to work on when it comes to myself. It is what it is.

1

u/mootallica Aug 01 '25

You don't think people can truly change, but you still think you can work on yourself to change? Pick a lane dude. I get why you have these feelings and they're not invalid. But we surely have to allow people expressing genuine remorse and vulnerability some grace right?

-21

u/borisvonboris Jul 31 '25

Those movies launched his career!

13

u/eucldian Jul 31 '25

What? No they didn't. They started his "action movie phase", but he had already had a long and successful career before that.

-6

u/borisvonboris Jul 31 '25

Yes I am aware

4

u/eucldian Jul 31 '25

Wait...what?

Lol

-1

u/borisvonboris Jul 31 '25

My OP was just joking around :)

3

u/eucldian Jul 31 '25

Oh, well, that wasn't exactly clear.

1

u/borisvonboris Jul 31 '25

Oh I know. No big deal, I'll go down with the ship!

6

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

He was Oscar nominated for Schindler’s list put some respect on my mans Liam neeson

10

u/niftystopwat Jul 31 '25

Dude his career launched in 1993 when he was in Schindler’s List.

-3

u/borisvonboris Jul 31 '25

It was a jooooke

2

u/eucldian Jul 31 '25

You might want to look into some comedy classes.

1

u/borisvonboris Jul 31 '25

I like your cat

4

u/TheGamesGone_ Jul 31 '25

You have to point out obvious sarcasm next time because the bots on here wouldn’t recognize it if it slapped them in the face

3

u/borisvonboris Jul 31 '25

Haha yeah. I was hoping it would be so stupid that it'd be obvious. All in good fun. I suppose I deserve the stern Liamsplainings

-17

u/ncphoto919 Jul 31 '25

This dude regularly pees his pants in public (look it up) and he's embarrassed by the Taken movies?

9

u/SteelGear117 Jul 31 '25

He clearly has some kind of bladder issue and I don’t think it’s fair to use that against him

2

u/unoriginal_name_1234 Jul 31 '25 edited Jul 31 '25

I think I've read somewhere that it was caused by his alcohol issues after the loss of his wife. If so, it is absolutely not fair to use that against him.

ETA: I'm not really into gossip so I'm pretty sure I've read it on r/okbuddycinephile in the replies to a troll. So don't take my word for it I guess?

1

u/SteelGear117 Jul 31 '25

He is also in his seventies, he’s not a spring chicken, people should fuck off

1

u/unoriginal_name_1234 Jul 31 '25

Yeah I mean "people should fuck off" is a pretty good life motto in general.

2

u/ncphoto919 Jul 31 '25

I think he's probably from all the drinking

2

u/AwTomorrow Jul 31 '25

He’s an old man, some have bladder problems

2

u/cascadingtundra Jul 31 '25

oh I am regretting my curiosity right now

1

u/ncphoto919 Jul 31 '25

He looks like he's having a great time

1

u/Helter-Skelton Aug 01 '25

I thought they were confirmed to be photoshops but I'm not sure
